wel che durch das Zentrum der Einlassöffnung des ersten Rohrteils und senkrecht zur Ebene der Einlassöffnung verläuft, während die Auslassöffnung des ersten Rohrteils in einer Ebene liegt;

Wie er sichtlich, ist die Zylinderaxe des Strom abwärtsliegenden Rohrabschnittes 4 unter einem Winkel von 45 zur Axe des strom- aufwärtsliegenden Rohrabschnittes 3 gedreht (wie dies in der gezeigten Seitenansicht er sichtlich ist),,da die Ebene der Stossstelle der beiden Rohrabschnitte 3 und 4 zu einer Quer ebene durch das Strahlrohr geneigt ist;

Jet tube device on a jet engine The present invention relates to a jet tube device on a jet engine.
The invention relates to a jet pipe device in which a downstream jet pipe part is opposite to a. Part of the jet engine is adjustable for the purpose of changing the direction in which the exhaust gases from the engine are expelled through the jet pipe into the atmosphere to generate thrust.
The jet pipe device of the type mentioned can be used on an engine to drive a vehicle, an aircraft or a guided Ge projectile and serve to control the same.
The invention aims: to create a compact Strahlroh @ device of low weight, in which a. Downstream jet pipe part is angularly adjustable compared to an upstream jet pipe part, whereby the direction in which the engine exhaust gases are emitted into the atmosphere can be changed.
The invention is used with advantage where the downstream jet pipe part with respect to the upstream jet pipe part by a relatively large angle z. B. should be pivotable by 90.
The jet pipe device according to the invention has a stationary jet pipe part, which has a circular outlet opening at its downstream end, a first, upstream,
movable .jet tube part with a circular inlet opening for cooperation with the said outlet opening of the stationary tube part and with a circular outlet opening, this upstream, first tube part being rotatable about a first axis relative to the stationary tube part,
wel che runs through the center of the inlet opening of the first tube part and perpendicular to the plane of the inlet opening, while the outlet opening of the first tube part lies in one plane;
which is inclined to the plane of the inlet opening of this tube part, a second, downstream movable jet tube part with a circular inlet opening for cooperation with the outlet opening of the first tube part, this second tube part being rotatable relative to the first tube part about a second axis which is perpendicular @,
ur level of the outlet opening of the upstream pipe part lies and runs through the center of this opening,

In, Figs. 1, 1A and 1B a jet pipe device is provided with a jet pipe 1, which is built into a jet engine 2. The jet pipe 1 has a pipe section which, at its downstream end, has a circular outlet; The exhaust gases from the engine 2 flow through the jet pipe 1 and are expelled into the atmosphere. At the downstream end of the jet pipe, a narrowed thrust nozzle is usually arranged.
The jet pipe is composed of two movable, cylindrical pipe sections, namely a first, upstream pipe section 3 and a second, downstream pipe section 4. The two pipe sections 3 and 4 meet in a plane which is at an angle of 45 to Ax of the jet pipe (Fig. 1B) is inclined.
The plane containing the outlet of the pipe section 3 is thus inclined at an angle of 45 to the plane containing the inlet of this section.
The upstream pipe section 3 is rotatable about a first axis, which is identical to that of the engine 2, while the downstream pipe section 4 is mounted on the pipe section 3 and can be rotated about a second axis which is perpendicular to the plane in which the two pipe sections collide, and which leads through the center points with the adjacent ends of the two pipe sections.
The plane of the upstream end of the downstream Rohrab section 4 is at an angle of 45 to the cylinder axis of the pipe section 4 ge tends.
The jet pipe sections 3 and 4 are rotatable in opposite directions: As shown in FIG. 2, the upstream pipe section 3 can be rotated clockwise from the downstream end, while the downstream pipe section can be rotated counterclockwise from its downstream end. The two pipe sections 3 and 4 are from their starting position by equal angular amounts ge mutually rotatable about their axes.
In the position shown in Fig. 2, the pipe sections are in the position reached after turning in the type mentioned GE shows, the pipe section 3 is rotated by 45 relative to the engine 2.
As he can see, the cylinder axis of the downstream pipe section 4 is rotated at an angle of 45 to the axis of the upstream pipe section 3 (as can be seen in the side view shown), because the plane of the joint between the two pipe sections 3 and 4 is inclined to a transverse plane through the jet pipe;
It can also be seen that the axes of the upstream and downstream pipe sections are still in the same vertical plane even after the rotation mentioned (FIG. 2A).
When the pipe sections 3 and 4 are rotated further, they reach the position shown in FIG. The upstream pipe section was compared to the engine 2 by -, an angle of 90 clockwise from its original position (see ge from the downstream end), while the downstream pipe section 4 from its original position by 90 to the second Ax, which is perpendicular to their common end planes or their joint plane!, Would be rotated in the opposite direction.
As can be seen, the cylinder axis of the downstream pipe section 4 of the jet pipe is now at an angle of 90 to the cylinder axis of the upstream pipe section 3, while these two axes still lie in the same vertical plane.
The device shown in FIG. 1 is suitable for an engine which is intended for installation in an aircraft, with the forward flight direction being approximately parallel to the axis of the jet pipe, while. the setting according to FIG. 3 is selected to provide a z. B. to generate required vertical thrust when landing or starting.
It goes without saying that the angle between the axes of the two pipe sections in the setting according to FIG. 3 is equal to twice the angle which the end planes of the sections with or in the axial direction (FIG. 1B) include; this latter angle can theoretically be any angle between> 0 and G 90.
Since Fig. 1 and 3 purely the principle he should explain, the adjacent ends of the upstream and downstream pipe sections 3 and 4 of the jet pipe are drawn elliptically, so .that the circumferences: the pipe sections 3 and 4 between the in the : Fig. 1 and 3 positions shown do not match.
In reality, the circumferential lines of the pipe sections 3 and 4 are circular in their joint plane, so that leakage losses in exhaust gases between the adjacent pipe sections can be reduced to a negligibly small amount.
1-3, a projection 5 is provided on the upstream pipe section 3 'and a projection 6 is provided on the downstream pipe section 4; these projections are shown for reasons of convenience in order to show the extent of the rotation of the two pipe sections gene.
4 to 7 show a practical embodiment of a jet pipe device of the type in question. The jet pipe here has a fixed main section 7, to which exhaust gases are fed from the engine (not shown); this main section is fixedly arranged with respect to the engine.
Furthermore, the device has a first upstream pipe section 8 and a second downstream pipe section 9. The two pipe sections 8 and 9 are movable. The downstream end of the pipe section 9 is formed as a nozzle'-9a, through which the exhaust gases are expelled into the atmosphere during operation of the engine.
The upstream movable pipe section 8 has a circular inlet and is rotatable relative to the fixed main section 7 about a first axis f0. The means for rotating this pipe section are shown in more detail in Fig. 6. The axis 10 goes through the center of the circular inlet opening of the pipe section 8 and is at right angles to the plane of the inlet opening of the upstream section.
A ring provided with radial Flanseli 11 (Fig. 4, 5, 6) is attached to the downstream end of the main section 7 'of the jet pipe, while a ring 12 provided with a radial flange is attached to the end of the pipe section 8 located downstream. The ring '12 has a radial flange 12a which protrudes from the end of the section 8 to the outside.
At the outer end of the flange 12a, two axial flanges 12b and 12e extending in opposite directions are seen, which extend approximately parallel to the wall of the pipe section 8. A ring 13 with a Z-shaped cross-section is attached with its one flange to the outer part of the ring 11 by means of screws 13a, while the other end flange of the ring 13 is directed inward and against the end of the flange 12e of the ring 12 is on.
Thus, the end face of the flange 12b is held in permanent contact ring with the radial face of the ring 11. The flange 12b is also provided with a circumferential groove 12d on its outside. In the groove 12d, a resilient sealing ring 14 is arranged, which with the web of the cross-sectioned Z-shaped ring 13 together a; Seal forms.
The outlet of the upstream pipe section 8 lies in a plane which is inclined to the plane containing the influence of this section and interacts with the inlet of the downstream pipe section 9.
The downstream movable pipe section 9 is rotatable about a second axis 15 relative to the upstream movable pipe section 9. The axis 15 is at right angles to the plane of the bena.eh- barten, circular ends of the pipe sections 8 and 9 and leads through the Zen tren of these pipe ends. A ring 16 (FIG. 7), which has a radially outwardly directed flange, is arranged on the downstream end of the pipe section 8.
A facing in the opposite direction, also provided with an outwardly directed flange, the same ring 17 is on the upstream end of the pipe section 9 is arranged. The rings 16 and 17 are surrounded by a ring 18 with a U-shaped cross section. The inwardly directed legs 18a, 18b of the ring 18 engage over the rings 16, 17 and thus prevent an axial separation of the two rings 16, 17. The inward-looking, radially extending surfaces of the flanges 18a, 18b act with ra dial surfaces the rings 16, 17 together.
Furthermore, a sleeve 19 is seen before which extends between the rings 16, 17. The sleeve 19 is coaxial with the ring 18 and net angeord within -this ring; it has thickened edge parts 19a, 19b, which are provided with inwardly looking grooves 19c and 19d, respectively. In the grooves 19c and. 19d each has a sealing ring 20a and 20b, which cooperate slidingly with cylindrical surfaces of the rings 16, 17.
A swivel ring 21 is arranged radially outside the ring 18. The ring 21 is rotatably mounted on a stationary part of the device by means of two journal bearings 22; The journal bearings 22 are arranged on supports 23 which, at their ends remote from the bearings 22, are attached to the ring 11 arranged at the downstream end of the main pipe section 7. Each journal bearing 22 has a journal which is carried by the support 23 and an associated
in the swivel ring 21 arranged bearing bush.
The axis 24 of the journal bearings 22 of the swivel ring 21 on the support 23 intersects the axis 15, about which the pipe section 9 can be rotated relative to the pipe section 8, at a right angle. The axis of rotation 15 and the bearing pin axis 24 thus intersect at a point which is the center of the circular junction between the. represents in the pipe sections 8, 9.
In the setting position shown in FIG. 4, the axis of the outlet 25 of the jet nozzle 9a, which outlet is inclined to the plane of the inlet of the pipe section 9, is perpendicular, so that the gas jet is ejected vertically downwards from the nozzle. As opposed to the first axis 10, which is also the center line of the fixed pipe section 7 of the jet pipe, is inclined to the horizontal at an angle ce.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, this angle is 45. So that the axis of the outlet 25 -the thrust nozzle 9a can be moved into the horizontal position so that the gas flow exits horizontally, the sum of the angle ss between the first axis 10, by which the upstream pipe section 8 ge compared to the fixed pipe section 7 is rotatable, and the plane of the outlet end of the plane of the outlet end of the pipe section 8, which is against the pipe section 9,
the angle y between the plane of the upstream end of the pipe section 9, which rests against the pipe section 8, and the axis of the outlet 25 of the jet pipe nozzle 9ra and the angle cu 180 (Fig. 5),
while the sum of the angles ss and y reduced by the angle cc must be 90. So ss plus y is 135. The angles ss and y are expediently equal to one another and are therefore 671/2 each.
The streamlined: movable pipe section 8 is through teeth 12e on the outer circumference of the flange 12c and by a gear 26 engaging in the teeth 12e, which is expediently driven by an electric motor 27 as in the example shown, opposite the stationary pipe section 7 around the axis 10 rotatable.
The downstream pipe section 9 is in the opposite direction of rotation to the direction of rotation of the section 8 by the same angular amount as the pipe section 8 to. the axis 15 rotatable. This rotation is carried out by means of a ring 1.6 on the downstream end of section 8 arranged external gear rim 16a and a corresponding gear rim 17a on the
upward end of the pipe section 9 arranged ring 17 and by means of two diametrically opposite gears 28, which gears are in engagement with the ring gear 16a and with the ring gear 17a.
The gears 28 are rotatably mounted on the swivel ring 21, specifically about an axis which is at right angles to the swivel axis 24 of the ring 21.
The gear 28 rotates on a sleeve 29 with a circular cross-section, which protrudes through the ring 18 and has a flange 29a which rests against the outer surface of the ring 18. The ring 18, the swivel ring 21 and the bush 19 are mutually fixed in their position on the axis of rotation of the gear wheels 28 by means of a pin 30 which protrudes through the ring 21 and engages in the cavity of the bush 29.
In contrast, the ring 18 can pivot about the common axis of rotation of the gearwheels 28 relative to the pivot ring 21.
A flange 30a is provided on the pin 30, which flange rests against the outer surface of the base of the swivel ring 21, which is U-shaped in cross section. The pin 30 is by means of screws 31, which are screwed into a holding plate 32, a,
m ring 21 attached. When the jet pipe device is in operation, rotating the jet pipe section 8 together with the ring 16 with respect to the stationary pipe section causes the gear wheels 28 to rotate about their common axis of rotation; as a result, the ring 17 is driven and the jet pipe section 9 is rotated in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the pipe section: 8 by the same angular amount as this section 8 from.
The gears 28 have straight spur teeth in the example shown Neten; In practice, however, it is expedient to provide the toothed wheels 28 and the ring gears 16a, 17a with bevel teeth, the conical tips of these teeth being on the pivot axis 24.
It can be seen that when the upstream movable pipe section 8 is rotated by 180 relative to the stationary pipe section 7 around the axis 7.0, and by the associated turning of the downstream pipe section 9 by 180 in the opposite direction of rotation around the axis 15,:
the axis of the jet nozzle outlet 10 can be brought from the vertical position shown in FIG. 4 into the horizontal position shown in FIG. 5 and vice versa. It goes without saying that the jet tube sections 8, 9 are rotated by 3600 relative to one another.
In another embodiment, instead of the motor-driven drive members 26 and 12, the rotation is effected by a gear 28; which is driven by means of a motor, e.g. an electric motor, and which is mounted on the swivel ring 21.
It should be noted that this has the advantage that the drive for the pipe section rotation is transmitted directly to the individual pipe sections 8 and 9 by the associated rings provided with toothed rings 16, 17.
In the pipe sections 8 and 9, as shown at 33 and 34 blades for deflecting the gas flow .im be seen in the jet pipe. It goes without saying that the choice: the size of the angles a, f @ and y : can be adapted to the respective requirements.
In your further embodiment, the arrangement is such that... That the exhaust jet by z. B. 180 can be deflected from its original direction. Three movable pipe sections are provided for this purpose. The first, upstream pipe section is opposite .einem fixed the pipe section around a first axis in one direction of rotation, e.g. B. clockwise, rotatable, while the second, middle pipe section relative to the first pipe section by -a second axis in the other direction of rotation, e.g.
B. counterclockwise, is rotatable; the third downstream pipe section .ist: rotatable about a third axis in the first-mentioned direction of rotation with respect to the second pipe section.
In FIGS. 8, 9, 9A, 10 and 10A, the engine, the beam of which has a fixed pipe section, is denoted by 52. The jet pipe has a first, upstream pipe section 53, a second central pipe section 54 and a third, downstream pipe section 55.
The plane of the outlet of the first pipe section 53 is inclined to the plane of the inlet of this section (in the example shown by 450); while the plane of the outlet of the second pipe section is perpendicular to the plane .des inlet from this section; the latter levels could also be arranged inclined to one another. The axis of the outlet of the third pipe section is inclined in the example shown at an angle of 450 to the plane of the inlet of this section.
Thus, the mutually facing end planes of the upstream and the middle section or of the middle section and the downstream section are inclined to the longitudinal axis of the relevant section; the angle of inclination be as in the example according to FIGS. 1-3 45.
The first upstream pipe section 53 is about a first axis, which coincides with its own longitudinal axis, ge compared to the pipe section 52 in the clockwise direction (seen from the downstream end) rotatable.
The second, middle pipe section 54 is rotatable in the opposite direction of rotation about a second perpendicular to the plane containing the mutually facing ends of the pipe sections 53, 54 are the axis; wherein the ends of the pipe sections 53; 54 rotate in mutually opposite directions but by the same angular amounts with respect to the stationary part of the drive mechanism 52.
The pipe section 55 rotates with respect to the pipe section 54 in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the latter and in a third axis which. to which the mutually facing ends of the - two pipe sections containing plane is perpendicular; while the planes containing the ends of the two sections 54, 54 rotate in mutually opposite directions by equal angular amounts.
As a result of the relative rotation of the jet pipe sections as described, the jet pipe changes its shape shown in FIG. 8 and finally assumes the shape shown in FIG. 10 via the shape shown in FIG.
The arrangement can be made in such a way that the longitudinal arenas of the jet pipe section, and especially that of the downstream section from which the hot gases exit into the atmosphere, are kept in the same plane throughout.
11-14 shows a practical embodiment of a jet pipe device according to the Pig. 8-10, the same reference numerals being used for parts that correspond to one another, as in FIGS. 4-7.
The jet pipe has a stationary pipe section 7 and, downstream of this section, three rotatable pipe sections 60, 61, .62. The last section 62 is provided with a nozzle 63 at its outlet end,
'The jet pipe sections have approximately the same cross-section. In the normal adjustment position of the jet pipe, the inlet end of the pipe section 60 'and the glass outlet end of the section -62 are in planes which are perpendicular to the flow directions 64a, 64b, 64c of the exhaust gases in the jet pipe sections 60, 61, 62,
while the other ends of the jet pipe sections lie in planes inclined to the directions mentioned: the pipe section. 60 is rotatable about a first axis 64a which is perpendicular to the plane of the inlet of this section through the center of this inlet.
This section is bent between its ends in such a way that its cross-section is almost constant and circular over the entire length of the pipe, perpendicular to the center line of the pipe, while the planes containing the ends of the pipe are approximately perpendicular to the center lines of adjacent parts of the exhaust pipe .
The pipe section 60 is through a. Motor 27 rotatable by means of a mechanism according to FIG.
The jet pipe sections 60, 61 are rotatable relative to each other about a second axis which is at right angles to the circular upstream end of the pipe section 61 and to the downstream end of the pipe section 60 and leads through the centers of these pipe ends.
The pipe sections 60, 61 are drivingly connected to one another, as was described with reference to FIG. 7 for the pipe sections 8 and 9. The pipe section 61 is curved between its ends so that its cross section perpendicular to the center line of this section along the entire length of the pipe section: approximately constant.
Has a circular shape, and so that the center line of the exhaust pipe in the jet pipe section at each end .dessbel is perpendicular to the planes of the inlet and outlet.
The jet pipe sections 61,62 can be rotated relative to one another around a third axis which leads at right angles to the plane of the outlet of the pipe section 61 through the center of this section.
To drive the pipe sections 61, 62 a mechanism analogous to the mechanism shown in FIG. 7 and provided for the pipe sections 8 and 9 is provided, the pivot pins 22 of the pivot ring 21 of this section being carried by a pivot yoke 65 which extends around 'the Pivots of the pivot ring 21 of the second section is rotatably mounted on the supports 23, the yoke 65 has two sufficiently rigid arms, -a rotation of the pivot ring 21 -um.
Ax to prevent the flow direction 64b of the gas flow in the pipe section 61.
11, 12 and 13 show the jet pipe elements of my position, in which the device for generating a drive jet can be used in the same direction ver in which the hot gas flows through the line 7.
During operation of the motor 27 for the purpose of rotating the pipe section 60 with respect to the fixed pipe section 7 - around the first axis 64a, the pivot ring 21 and the gears 28; which are carried by the latter and each have a toothed ring.
the pipe sections 60, 61 engage so that the inlet end of the pipe section 61 rotates around the second A.Ze in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the inclined outlet end of the pipe section 60 and by the same angular amount relative to the stationary pipe section 7 is turning; Furthermore, the pivot ring 21 is pivoted about its pivot pin 22.
In an analogous manner, the inlet end of the pipe section 62 becomes in the direction of rotation. of the outlet end of the pipe section 61 in the opposite direction and rotated by the same angular amount. The associated swivel ring 21 is thereby -pivoted around its pivot pin 22-, while the yoke 65 rotates about its storage arenas in the supports 23 ge.
According to FIG. 15, the pipe section 60 has been rotated by an angle of approximately 45, so that the axis 64c of the outlet of the pipe section 62 comes to lie at right angles to the axis 64a of the first section 60.
If the gas jet emerges horizontally according to FIG. 11, it will now emerge vertically downwards. exit the nozzle of the jet pipe. If the jet pipe device described forms part of an aircraft engine, the setting described last can be used to generate a lift force.
14, the pipe section 60 is around one. 90 degrees so that the axis 64c of the outlet comes to lie parallel to the axis 64a.
The gas jet ejected through the nozzle is thus directed against the gas jet exiting in the setting shown in FIG. 11. If the device is built into an aircraft, it can be used in the setting described last to generate a braking thrust, while in the setting shown in Fig. '-
