Apparatus for counting sheets stacked in a stack The present invention relates to an apparatus for counting sheets stacked in a stack. Its purpose is to create a simple and cheap herzu making device of this type, which works quickly and safely.
The inventive device is characterized by a support for the sheet stack and by a rotating member with a thin, transverse to the axis of rotation and essentially parallel to the sheets of the stack extending peripheral part, which has a radially extending slot, one side of which has a with respect to the plane of the peripheral part of the rotating organ includes part offset, further characterized by such an arrangement of this rotating organ,
that its peripheral part is rotatable between two adjacent sheets of the Sta pels and said slot can enter the stack with each revolution of the rotating member and leave it again, and said offset part of the peripheral part is intended before the entry of the Slit in the stack, the sheets of the same-on one side to be moved in one direction and is provided with means to deflect a single sheet of the stack on its other side in the same direction,
and wherein further the part of the peripheral part on the other side of the slot over the deflected individual sheet of the same on the other side can be guided, wherein means for actuating a counter are switched on by the deformation of the said single sheet.
Pneumatic means can be easily seen to deflect said individual sheet. For example, that surface of the offset part of the peripheral part which first passes over said single sheet may be provided with one or more openings which are in communication with a suction device so that a sheet can be drawn from one side of the peripheral part of the rotating organ is deflected to the other side of the same.
The peripheral part. of the rotating member can be provided with a number of radially extending slots with parts offset on one side of each slot such that several leaves can be counted during one rotation of the member.
The switched on by said deflection of the individual sheet and the counter actuating means may have a pair of contacts which are connected to a power source and an electrical mechanism for actuating the counter, these contacts normally open and arranged so that they be closed when deflecting said single leaf from one side of the rotating organ to the other.
The means switched on by the deflection of the individual sheet can comprise a pneumatic transmission device which contains an opening in the rotating member which is located on the side of the slot opposite the offset peripheral part and on which the said openings for deflecting the sheet contain tendencies Surface opposite surface of the rotating organ is located and is in communication with a passage that opens into a pressure source, and also a pneumatically operating motor for operating the counter in such a way,
that the covering of the opening called ge with a deflected leaf starts this motor. Several rotating organs of the type mentioned can work simultaneously and each provided with a counter are arranged around a stack of sheets, so that by comparing the various results, false counts can be determined immediately.
In the accompanying drawings, exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown. FIG. 1 is seen from above, a perspective view of a rotating member designed as a disc.
FIG. 2 is a view of the disk looking in the direction of the arrow in FIG.
Fig. 3 is a view corresponding to that of Fig. 1, with a modified arrangement of the valve control, and the means for actuating the counter.
Fig. 4 is a schematic side view of the entire apparatus showing the manner in which the disc rises along a stack of sheets.
Fig. 5 is a view corresponding to that of Fig. 4 and shows another imple mentation of the means for controlling the upward movement of the disc.
6 shows a perspective view of another embodiment of a device in which the stack of sheets is guided past a disk which is arranged with its axis of rotation transverse to the vertical.
In FIGS. 1 and 2, 10 denotes a rotating member designed as a disk. This disc 10 is arranged so that it can move from top to top along a stack of horizontally layered sheets (Fug. 4 and; 5). It is seen ver with an upward, hollow hub 12, the bore 13 is closed at 14 downwards. As can be seen from Fig. 2, the upper surface of the disk 10 is, as indicated at 15, slightly inclined conically, while the lower surface 16 of the disk is flat.
As can also be seen from FIG. 1, the disk has a sector-shaped recess 17 through which a radial guide edge 18 and a radial rear edge 19 are formed. The rear edge 19 merges into the peripheral line 21 of the disc in a curved piece 20. A curved element 22 extends in the vicinity of the periphery of the disk 10 from the radial guide edge 18 and ends shortly before the rear edge 19, so that a gap 23 is formed in the circumference of the disk.
From Fig. 2 it can be seen that the ge s curved element 22 is inclined upwards, so that its free end, which forms the front edge 24 of the gap 2.3, above the rear edge 25 of the gap is axially shifted to this.
In the conical surface of the disc with a 26 designated ter indicated by dashed lines, stepped channel is formed, which has a ver running along the element 22 part and a below the HOH len hub 12 extending part.
The underside of the curved element 22 has openings 27, 28 and a plate is subsequently attached to the larger width of the channel, so that only a relatively narrow passage remains that connects the openings "27, 28 with an opening 29, which with corresponds to the end of a passage 30 formed in the hub 12, which ends in an opening 31 at the foot of the bore 13. One end of a sleeve protrudes into the bore 13, the other end of which is connected to a suction line connected to a suction device The sleeve is provided with an opening which coincides with the opening 31 once with each rotation of the disk.
On the Seheibe, as indicated at 32, a con tact pair is arranged, which is connected to slip rings in the bore 13, which in turn are connected to the counter and a power source.
The disc 10 is arranged with respect to the sheet stack so that a part of its length, including the gap 23, can engage from the corner between adjacent sheets of the stack. When the disk rotates, the curved element 22 is drawn between two sheets of the stack and thus lifts a number of sheets onto itself. When the opening 27 comes to lie opposite the sheet underlying the bar, this sheet is pulled through the gap caused by the lifting of the upper sheets through upward and after further rotation, the opening 28 comes into its active position.
Shortly thereafter, the rear edge 25 of the gap 23 occurs under the deflected sheet, the contact 22 comes into contact with the underside of this deflected sheet, closes the contacts and actuates the counter.
The disc and valve mechanism shown in FIG. 3 corresponds to the one described above with the difference that the curved element 22 is provided at its end with a wire loop 33 which overlaps the rear edge 19 and above a suction opening 34 in the surface the disc 10 is arranged. The suction opening 34 is in communication with a passage 35 in the disk, which leads to an opening 3'6 on the underside of the hub 12.
In contrast to the embodiment described above, the hub 12 is connected to a shaft 37, and the aforesaid passage 30 extends through the hub and shaft to end in the opening 31 of the latter. A second upwardly directed passage 38 provided in the hub and shaft ends in the upper part of the latter below the opening 31 in an opening 39.
The shaft is rotatable in two sockets 40 and 41, which are fastened in stationary housings 42, 43 on both sides of a separating piece 9, the latter also being provided with a socket 6. The whole arrangement is supported by an extension 59 of the housing of a drive motor (Fug. 4 and 5 ) . The socket 41 and its housing part 43 are provided with radial passages 44 and the separator 9 and its socket 6 have a further radial passage 45.
These passages open at one end into the openings 31 and 39 in the shaft, while their other ends are connected to vacuum pumps via lines 46 and 47, respectively. As soon as the curved element 22 enters the stack of sheets, the opening 31 comes into agreement with the passage 44 and the passages 30 and 26 are under suction.
The passage 38 also has a small opening 48 which opens into a passage 49 which extends through the bush 40 and the housing part 42 and communicates with a cylinder bore 50 in a block 51 arranged on the housing part 42.
The cylinder contains a piston 52, which actuates a counter 54 via a piston rod 53. A compression spring 55 is arranged around the piston rod, which is supported at one end against the piston and at the other end acts on a closing piece 56 of the cylinder bore. A stop 7 prevents the piston from being ejected from the cylinder. With each rotation of the disk, the curved element 22 enters the stack, while the openings 27, 28 at its lower edge 19 pass under it.
The opening 34 is closed and the suction in the passage 37 pushes ver against the effect. the spring 55 the piston 52 and thus actuates the counter. As soon as the trailing edge 19 leaves the leaves, the opening 34 is covered again and the piston returns to its starting position under the action of the spring 55.
If the lower sheet can no longer be sucked on, or if the trailing edge should not go through below the sucked sheet, the wire loop prevents the opening 34 from closing due to a sheet that has already been sucked in and counted.
As can be seen from FIGS. 4 and 5, the stack 56 rests on a support 57 which is arranged so that the edge of the disc 10 can engage between the corners 58 of the sheets. As mentioned earlier, the housing parts 42, 43 are attached to an extension 59 of the motor housing 60 and the spindle is driven ben via a suitable transmission.
The motor rests on a platform 61, which is provided with a series of arms 62, on which rollers 63 are arranged, which cooperate with an upright guide rod 64, so that the platform with the motor, as shown in Fig. 4, can be moved up and down.
As is readily apparent, the engine, platform and disc exercise due to their own weight together on the disc from a downward pressure on the leaves, which makes the arrangement of relief means necessary. These relief means comprise a counterweight 65 and a cable 66, which is guided over rollers 67 at the upper end of the guide 64 and is fastened with its free end to the platform 61.
By a suitable choice of the counterweight 65, it is possible that the motor, disc and platform move downwards under the effect of gravity, without excessive pressure being exerted on the sheets of the stack, so that the disc automatically moves from top to bottom the stack is working.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 5, the motor 60 and the disk 10 as well as the associated parts are supported on the platform by a compression spring 68. This compression spring 68 is mounted in a housing 69 fixed to the base of the motor and acts on the upper end of this housing. The lower end of the spring is supported on a stop 70 which is adjustable with respect to the platform 61. The housing 69 is guided between rollers 71 which are arranged on posts 72 supported on the platform. The platform is usually stationary.
It is provided with a threaded bushing 73 which cooperates with a control screw 74 which can be driven by a motor 76 via a suitable gear 75. The control screw runs in suitable bearings, one of which is shown at 79. In this embodiment, the automatic downward movement of the disc 10 compresses the spring 68 and the motor 60 and housing 69 move downward. The housing 69 is provided with a cam 77 which, after a predetermined deformation of the spring, actuates a switch 78 which is switched into the circuit of a controller for the motor 76.
This is put into operation and turns the control screw in such a way that the platform is moved downwards until the switch is opened and the motor switches off again. By suitable selection of the spring strength, it is possible to bring the advance speed of the platform 51 with the speed at which the disc works through the stack of sheets in agreement. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 6, the sheet stack 56 is arranged in a V-shaped trough 80 in such a way that one corner of the stack is directed downward. This trough 80 is provided with an opening 81 through which the peripheral part of the disc 10 can enter.
The trough 80, the motor 60 and the disc 10 are mounted in a frame 82 such that the trough is inclined relative to the horizontal and the stack of sheets is stored in a holder 83 which cooperates with friction-reducing guides 84 in the trough, so that the advance of the disc on the stack of sheets is supported by gravity. The self-advancement of the disk can, for example, still be supported by spring means 85.
