Machine for bending cold tubes The present invention relates to a machine for bending cold tubes, comprising an axial pressure pad provided a peripheral groove and arranged during use on one side of a tube to be bent, and la teral bearings, also provided with a peripheral groove, mounted on the other side of the tube to be bent ; and on either side of said axial pressure bearing, on pins engaging in bearings of the frame of the machine, the tube to be bent engaging in the grooves of said bearings.
This machine is characterized in that the side bearings have a groove with a section corresponding to the half-section of the tube to be bent and are provided with axes eccentric with respect to their groove so that, when the axial pressure pad is moved in the direction of the side bearings, the latter are rotated by the tube to be bent and clamp the latter around the central bearing at symmetrical points closer and closer to the plane of symmetry of the side bearings and that the tightening of the tube continues , elastically, after the passage of the support points of the tube in the groove of the pressure pad corresponding to an elbow of 180 and sufficiently exceeds the value of 180.1 so that,
after cessation of the elastic stress, the tube retains a bend, by permanent deformation of exactly 1800. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, as well as 'an embodiment of a machine known for comparison. Fig. 5 is an end view of the machine as shown in FIG. 4.
Fig. 7 is a view in axial section of an element along VII-VII of FIG. 6.
In the cold tube bending machine without filling, shown in fig. 1 and 2, use is made of a presser pad 1 having a groove 2 with a development equal to, at most 1800, which presses on a tube 10 to be bent, between two lateral pads 5 having a hollow groove open enough to re cevoir various diameters of tubes, groove which is of revolution around axis 4 of trunnions 6 coaxial lons which, above and below each side bearing, allow this bearing to be held in place, rotating around these journals housed in holes 7 of two plates 8 and 9 connected to the device for moving the presser pad 1.
This displacement device may be a mechanical screw jack or a hydraulic jack, the rod of these jacks pushing the pressure pad between the two side pads, which causes the tube to bend.
When using a pressure pad 1 having a groove 2 of 180, # of development, by making its axis 3 (fig. 1 and 2) protrude from the plane of the axes 4 of the side pads 5, whose coaxial journals are journaled in holes 7 of the plates 8 and 9, we can bring, in the bending, the tube 10, a hairpin with branches at 180 but, as soon as it is released, due to its elasticity, this hairpin opens and takes a V-shaped, the non-bent parts forming between them an acute angle a> which is of the order of 2 to 5, instead of the bending at 180, one does not ultimately exceed 175 ,, to 1780.
Fig. 3 shows, with a desired exaggeration, the relaxed tube after 180 bending. Bending to the exact 1800s has not been widely used until now. The problems of heating, by circulation, of floors and ceilings or other walls make it entirely desirable to obtain the possibility of obtaining 180 bends allowing the parallel arrangement of the rec tilinear parts of the tube between the various bends.
In the machine shown in fig. 4, 5, 6 and 7, the side pressers 11 differ from the known side pressers 5, shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 which are of revolution about their axis 4 and provided with journals 6 also coaxial with 4 and whose groove has any concavity over their entire height.
The side pads 11 (fig. 4, 5, 6 and 7) are cylindrical on the outside at 12 and hollowed out with a groove 13, the bottom of which has a semicircular section corresponding to the external section of the tube 10 to be bent.
The surfaces 12 and 13 have, for example, the same axis of revolution 14 which is not the same as the axis 15 of the journals 16 which are fixed to journal therein in the holes 7 of the flanges 8 and 9 of the bender.
The pins 14 and 15 are at an offset distance e from each other in an axial plane 17. The pressure pad 1 may be of the standard type, with a groove suitable for. various tube diameters, provided that it can pass between the bearings 11.
Preferably, this presser pad 1, instead of extending the groove 2 beyond 180, by parallel extensions, towards the rear, as shown in FIG. 1, will be extended towards the rear along a small arc 18 from approximately 2 to 5, followed by straight parts 19 extending it, corresponding to the elastic bending at the angle (3 given to the tube 10 which, released from the constraints of the bender will keep a hanger of 180.
It will also be advantageous to give the groove 2 the outer profile of the tube with, if necessary, edges surrounding the latter over approximately the depth of a radius and decreasing towards the rear to allow the pad to move smoothly. presser 1 between the side sine necks.
Fig. 4 shows the start of the operation, the side pads and the central pad in contact with the right tube. At this time, the bearings are in contact by their least eccentric point along the diameter 17. They are driven in rotation along the arrows 21, when the presser 1 moves along the arrow 22, causing the tube to bend.
At the end of the operation, the contact with the tube is, if the dimensions of the bearings are appropriate, at the other end of the diameter 17, at the maximum eccentricity, the tube then being elastically deformed, its branches forming together the angle (3 (fig. 6). This angle is very exaggerated in the diagram, in reality it is only a few degrees.
The lateral bearings could have a groove which is not of revolution, but whose directrix is a curve whose distance to the center of rotation varies differently from that of the eccentric circle.
The machine shown and described therefore obviates the aforementioned drawbacks by essentially using a special set of side pads and, incidentally, a pressure pad having a groove of more than 180, of circular development.
The eccentricity e of the side pressers is chosen, experimentally, according to the diameter and thickness of the tubes to be bent so that the angle imposed in addition to 180 on the tube, disappears by elasticity when the tube is released from the bender and that the tube then remains exactly bent at 180.
Such bearings can be adapted to all bending machines by support, on two lateral bearings and pressure between these supports of a pressure pad of the tube, whatever the modes of attachment and relative displacement of these bearings between them.
