So lassen sieh z.

Process for the preparation of organic hydroxylamine compounds
As is known, the organic nitro compounds can be reduced by nascent hydrogen or trolytisphzudene appropriate hydroxylamines. Furthermore, Grundmann (Angew. Chem.
62, 559 [1950]) described that nitrocyclohexane can be hydrogenated catalytically in the presence of silver chromite or silver-manganese-zinc with a catalysts to give cyclohexylhydroxylamine in moderate yield. The llvdroxylaminverbindungen, especially the. alieyelicschen hydroxylamines have recently been of great importance as intermediates for the production of plastics, e.g. B. of polyamides based on the M-lactams.
So let z. For example, in the simplest way according to patent no. 324434, the corresponding oximes can be produced from the cycloalkyl hydroxylamines by the action of oxygen in the presence of metal salts as catalysis, from which the # -lactams are obtained by Beckmann rearrangement.
It has been found that organic Ilydroxylamine can be prepared in excellent yield by using nitro compounds. saturated-tem. organic residue in the presence of finely divided Pa. lladium catalyst converted with hydrogen. z. t.
The nitro compounds which can be used are those whose nitro group is connected to saturated, aliphatic and cycloaliphatic radicals which can also contain functional groups. The catalyst used is the palladium, preferably in the form of finely divided palladium oxide or the same on carrier substances such as coal, asbestos, etc. for hydrogenation. The amount of the catalyst used is about 0.1 to 1% as metal. or on the nitro compound used.
The hydrogenation is preferably carried out in such a way that the nitro compound is dissolved or suspended in a solvent and hydrogenated in the presence of the palladium catalyst either without pressure or under pressure and under conditions such that at most 2 mol of hydrogen are consumed for 1 mol of nitro compound .
In addition to the other known catalysts, in the presence of palladium and under the specified conditions in the hydrogenation with 2 moles of hydrogen to 1 mole of nitro compounds, there is a decrease in the hydrogen uptake capacity, so that only a few g of starting material are present for the hydroxylamine , andes and there is almost no further hydrogenation to the amine. To avoid further hydrogenation with the formation of amines as byproducts, it is advantageous to allow the hydrogenation to proceed incompletely or to terminate it after 85 to 95% of the required amount of hydrogen has been taken up.
As a solution or. Diluents are saturated hydrocarbons, alcohols, ethers and also suitable for water, particularly preferably hydrocarbons and methanol as the alcohol. The nitro compounds are expediently used in these solvents in a concentration of 5 to 30 / e. The hydrogenation should be carried out at temperatures below 50 ° C; it is advantageous to hydrogenate at room temperature between 15 and 30 ° C.
The reaction with hydrogen can be carried out both dt-ueklos and under pressure and depends to a large extent on the activity of the catalyst and on the hydrogenation rate. The hydrogenation is expediently carried out therefrom at higher pressures.
The time required for the hydrogenation depends on the type and amount of catalyst and the reaction temperature and is about 6 to 8 hours,
After the hydrogenation of the nitro compound to the hydroxylamine has ended, the work-up takes place, for B. in such a way that one filtered off the palladium catalyst and optionally the Ilydroxylaminverbindungen from the reaction solution and the latter by extraction with a low-boiling solvent, such as. B. methanol, separated from the catalyst. After the majority of the solvent has been distilled off, z. B. a concentrated solution of hydroxylamine, from which this can be obtained in pure form by crystallization or by fractional distillation.
The hydrogenation can also be carried out continuously in the simplest way if one is involved in one with reactions. The hydrogenation apparatus filled with the product supplies the solution of the nitro compound with the catalyst and a circulating hydrogen gas is allowed to flow through the reaction mixture. The reaction solution is continuously withdrawn and, after being separated off and distilled off, the solvent and catalyst are returned to the hydrogenation. The nitro compound which has not been converted can be isolated from the mother liquor of the extract, e.g. B. by distillation, and they are used again for hydrogenation.
For further processing, e.g. For the production of oximes, for example, it is not necessary to solidly isolate the hydroxylamine by evaporating the solvent, but it can be oxidized in the oxygen solution and, after this operation, the hydrogenation solvent can be stirred up again.
The yield of the hydoxylamine compound is up to 95 "/ e, based on the hydrogen conversion.
