Outre l'avantage de supprimer tous les ris ques de fuites, notamment dans le circuit des gaz, l'appareil établi présente encore les avan tages suivants - celui de permettre d'adopter des échan geurs à fortes pertes de charge, donc à taux d'échange élevé ;
Gravity Feed Heating Apparatus The invention relates to a solid fuel gravity feed heater and pressurized combustion air blowing.
This device is characterized by the fact that it has an ash discharge opening which is normally closed, and which opens only in an arranged chamber, in a pressurized air circuit, upstream of the chamber. combustion, so that any lack of sealing in the sealing of said opening gives rise to an air leak and not combustion gas.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the apparatus which is the subject of the invention.
Figs. 1 and 2 show, in cross section, these two embodiments.
The first embodiment (fig. 1) comprises an enclosure bounded on the outside by a double wall 1 inside which the water circulates. The water to be heated is brought through a pipe located at the bottom of the boiler and not shown on the diagram, and the hot water is discharged through pipe 2.
The chamber located upstream of the zone in which the fuel is burnt is limited by a part of the double wall 1 by a bottom 3 with a water sheet inclined from front to rear, by a grid 4 and a floor 5. This fireplace is supplied with pressurized air by a fan 6 which forces the air into a box 7 which communicates at 8 with the fireplace. The latter comprises in an opening 60 opening only in a chamber 61 a clinker drawer 9 disposed under the grid 4 and on the floor 5 and a viewing window 10. The drawer 9 and viewing window 10 are advantageously provided with sealing gaskets. because they are only subjected to the pressure of the ventilation air.
The heat exchanger is made up of vertical flue tubes 1.1 bathed in the water contained in the casing 12.
The part of the hearth located downstream of the zone in which the fuel is burnt and upstream of the heat exchanger is limited by part of the double wall 1, by the inclined bottom 3, the grate 4 and the envelope 12 as well as by an upper plate 13. It is this part that is arranged in a sealed manner.
This part has, in general, only one opening necessary for its operation, which is the fuel loading door 14 disposed at the upper part of the loading hopper, in the upper plate 13. This hopper is limited. by a part of the double wall 1, by the bottom 3 and the casing 12, and may be provided with a plate 15 of adjustable height intended to adjust the fuel flow.
As regards the means of sealing the loading door 14, those skilled in the art can imagine a large number of solutions. For this purpose, it is possible to interpose between the door and its seat a rubber, asbestos or similar material seal and to provide means for clamping this seal between the door and the seat (screw device or the like).
Part 16, which communicates with the evacuation duct 17, only needs to be carried out in a sealed manner on the side of the hearth since it is put under vacuum by the fact of the draft. It can be closed by a sheet 18 simply placed on supports.
Above the upper plate 13 of the hopper and the sheet 18 of the exchanger there are two chambers 19 and 20 respectively, placed in communication by openings 21, the second chamber 20, located above the exchanger, which can be partly filled with thermal insulation (glass wool or the like). In this way, the chamber 19 is at negative pressure with respect to the atmosphere and if there is any leakage through the door 14, the minimal quantity of gas which escapes from it is sucked towards the chimney and cannot therefore have harmful effect.
The apparatus is provided with the following accessories - scrubbing device 22 with control lever 23, this device being advantageously constituted by a V-shaped flap inside which hooks such as 24 are provided from place to place. The control mechanism shown schematically at 25, housed in the air box 7, allows the screener to slide on the grid 4.
This control mechanism is established so as to leave a wise step to the ventilation air, the circuit of which is shown schematically by arrows in the drawing; - adjustable secondary air inlet device 26 above the ignited fuel; - device 27 for adjusting the primary air flow with manual or thermostatic control.
As a result, a device with forced ventilation, with a sealed hearth and loading hopper, is thus produced, in which no circulation of smoke can be established in the hopper. The power of this device can be adjusted by acting on the ventilation air pressure, the chimney draft being intended, in practice, only to evacuate the fumes which have been discharged through the temperature exchanger tubes. This makes it possible, in particular, to reduce the weight of the boilers for a given power.
The second embodiment (fig. 2), comprises essentially a grate 31 for the fuel, a hopper 32 for the fuel supply by gravity and a heat exchanger 33 in which circulate, on the one hand , the combustion gases and, on the other hand, the water to be heated. The water circuit of the exchanger communicates with other parts of the apparatus such as 34 and 35 arranged around the hearth.
The forced ventilation air, supplied by a fan 36, passes under the grate (arrows f1), then is brought to the surface of the fuel resting on the grate (arrows f2) and secondary air can also be introduced downstream of the igniting fuel zone (arrows f3). The combustion gases escape through a duct 37 in communication with a chimney.
The apparatus is completed by a loading door 38, a sight glass or sight glass 39, a bottom slag drawer 40 placed in an opening 62 opening only into a chamber 63 and cleaning and adjustment devices which have not been shown. on the drawing. It rests on a concrete base 41.
This being the case, the apparatus is constituted by three juxtaposed blocks such as those delimited by dashed lines in the figure - a rear block A comprising the hearth and the heat exchanger; - An upper front unit B comprising the loading hopper; - and a lower front block C which can be called an ash box.
These blocks are assembled according to two practically tight joints, a joint 42 between the blocks A and B and a joint 43 between the blocks A and C.
To avoid leaks, the device is surrounded by a double wall in which the air is maintained at a pressure greater than that prevailing inside. In this way, the only possible leaks would be air leaks which would occur from the double wall towards the interior, that is to say harmless leaks.
All the forced ventilation air is passed first through the double wall and then into the fireplace. As a result of the pressure losses arising in such a circuit of air and then of combustion gas, it is always ensured that the air pressure in the double wall is greater than the pressures prevailing inside, in particular either the pressure. air which has entered the boiler, or at the gas pressure downstream of the fireplace.
The upper and side walls of the boiler are surrounded by a casing 44, communicating with an enclosure 45 surrounding the joint 42 between blocks A and B and the upper part of the joint 43 between blocks A and C. The fan 36 is delivered to the upper and rear part of the double wall thus constituted by means of a duct 46 and an opening 47 in the cowling 44 and provision is made to inside this double wall a baffle 48 running halfway up the rear part of the device. Finally, the lower and rear part of the double wall is communicated via an opening 49 with the interior of the device.
The cowling 44 is advantageously constituted by sheet metal panels, assembled together and stiffened below and above by profile frames (horns or others). The operation of this device is as follows.
In normal operation, the pressurized air introduced through the opening 47 circulates from back to front and from top to bottom in the upper half of the double wall limited by the channel 48, passing through the enclosure 45, then passes through the lower half of the double pa king, circulates from front to rear and enters the interior of the apparatus, through the opening 49, where it then circulates as indicated above.
When the blower fan 36 is cut off, the fireplace is in depression, thanks to the draft of the chimney, and there is no risk of gas leaking towards the double wall. The device is then in operating conditions similar to those of ordinary or automatic devices.
In any case, no harmful leaks can occur to the outside.
In addition to the advantage of eliminating all risk of leaks, especially in the gas circuit, the established device also has the following advantages - that of allowing the adoption of heat exchangers with high pressure drops, therefore at a rate of high exchange;
- that of heating the combustion air, which makes it possible, on the one hand, to recover the heat that would otherwise be lost by radiation and convection, thus to increase the output and, on the other hand, to use , by raising the combustion temperature a wide range of fuels among those with a high ash melt temperature.
The device is surrounded, at least along its walls which circumscribe the areas where the combustion gases circulate and in the vicinity of the joints between the various blocks, by an air mattress, this mattress being created by the air forced ventilation and enclosed in a double pa king, which is maintained at a pressure greater than the pressure of said gases and which is then sent into the hearth of the device. Such a boiler must, of course, be provided with sealed shut-off members for the openings necessary for its operation.
In the case where the fuel used is solid, it is necessary, in particular, to arrange the fuel loading door in a sealed manner. These shutter members are only removed for short and distant periods during which the forced ventilation is removed and the fireplace is thus depressed with respect to the chimney.
It is not necessary to make the space where the smoke tubes arrive in a strictly sealed manner.
This space is, in fact, depressed with respect to the outside by the action of the chimney draft and slight leaks would simply have the effect of re-entering the latter.
The sealed shut-off device (s) of the hearth is advantageously placed in a chamber which is made to communicate with the chimney, for example by means of the space situated downstream of the exchanger, so that if , despite the precautions taken, some leakage occurs through this or these shuttering members, the gases which escape are sucked towards the chimney and do not spread into the atmosphere.
Variants for low and medium powers could be produced in a single block.
For higher powers, they must be made in several juxtaposed blocks; as a result of construction requirements, and leaks may occur along the mutual assembly joints of these blocks.
Such leaks are harmless if they occur in the pressurized air circuit upstream of the combustion zone, but they would be absolutely harmful if they were to occur in the pressurized gas circuit in or downstream. of the combustion zone. It is also possible to pass all of the forced ventilation air through the double wall.
