Suspended file Files are known of the type in which the files containing the documents are suspended vertically from a pair of parallel rails, or similar members, which generally appear in a metal frame placed in a drawer of a filing cabinet. We know that it is desirable to be able to link all the files at will, in devices of this kind, in the manner of existing so-called accordion continuous classification devices.
The present invention relates to a suspended sier back, comprising a suspension rod at each of its upper horizontal edges, the rear rod, which forms an oblique bearing surface for a strip of tape, being higher than the anterior rod. The suspended file according to the invention is characterized by the fact that, in order to allow several files to be joined together, in order to carry out a continuous classification called in accor déon, at least one window is provided in the rear part of the backrest, for the passage of an inverted U-shaped clip intended to be engaged on the front edge of the neighboring backrest.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one form and one variant of execution of the suspended file which is the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a backrest placed on its suspension rails. Fig. 2 is a partial view, also in perspective, but on a larger scale, of a rear suspension rod for this file. Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken along the line 111-111 of FIG. 2. FIG. 4 is a sectional view along the line IV-IV of FIG. 2.
Fig. 5 shows an assembly clip engaged in a corresponding opening of a posterior rod.
Fig. 6 is a view in vertical section, and on an even larger scale, of a series of files arranged so as to remain independent. Fig. 7 is a similar view of linked files in continuous classification known as accordeon. The backrest is formed as usual by a sheet of cardboard, for example, folded to constitute a front wall 1 and a rear wall 2. The front suspension rod 3 is formed by a simple strip of sheet metal or folded plastic material. in U, and fixed to the edge of the backrest by pinching, edge tage, gluing or otherwise.
The rear suspension rod 4 is folded backwards, to form a wing 5 at its upper edge, and tongues 6 are cut in this edge and are brought into the plane of the wing 5. The elements 5 and 6 for ment together an oblique support base for a title strip 7, covered by a celluloid cover 8, for example, engaged by sliding its curved edges on this support base.
Other tabs 9 cut in the wall are curved upwards, that is to say towards the tabs 6, and are used for fixing the backrest. To this end, the rear wall thereof has a series of slots 10 (fig. 6) in which the tongues 9 are engaged, after which the edge of the sheet is wedged in the angle 11 formed between the body of the sheet. trin gle 4 and the tongues 6. An extremely simple method of attachment is thus obtained, but very effective due to the wedging of the end of the sheet in this acute angle.
It will be noted that the tabs 9, being intended to retain a single thickness of the card, protrude very little on the plane of the trin gle 4. Because the rod 3 itself covers only the cardboard of the front wall 1 of the file, the total thickness of the elements 4, 9, 1 and 3 remains less than the ho rizontal size 12 of the title strip. As a result, the capacity of the drawers or file compartments is used to the maximum.
A window 13 is fitted in the body of the rod 4, the lower edge of this window being located at a height such that when the two rods are adjacent, it substantially coincides with the upper edge of the anterior rod 3 (see fig. . 7). The latter is therefore of a lower height than that of the rear rod 4 (see fig. 1).
In the window 13 is engaged a fastening part 14 forming a clip, made of metal or of a plastic material, for example, and which, as shown in FIG. 7, can overlap both the rod 4 and the front rod 3 of the neighboring backrest.
Preferably the branches of the clip 14 are of unequal length to facilitate handling.
Of course, several windows and several clips can be used, instead of just one.
In an alternative embodiment, the rod 3 may have a greater height, and include windows similar to windows 13.
It is also possible to arrange windows such as 13 in the two walls of the backrest, below the rods.
The arrangement described is also applicable to suspended plugs. In this case, these will be directly hooked to the ears 9, and may include one or more windows such as 13, to allow them to be connected together by means of clips 14.
The suspended file described has the advantage of presenting simple, efficient and easy-to-handle means making it possible to make a series of files together and to release them easily, if necessary.
