Abstract

The suspended file is made of a sheet of cardboard folded to form two flaps forming a pocket. The adjacent end edges have supports. The sheet is rectangular and has parallel bending lines (1-6), to form a number of flap pairs. Support is provided by openings (12a-12g) perpendicular to the outer edges (7,9) and the bending lines. Index tongues (13,13a,13b) are formed by part cutting of an opening near every other bending line. It has a hook formed by a fold (8) of small width, going over an adjacent file.

Description

 The present invention relates to the manufacture of files known as 11suspendus11 used in many filing cabinets in offices or administrations.

 It is known that the so-called "hanging" files used in filing cabinets or office drawers are formed from a folded cardboard sheet to form two flaps including a pocket1 suspended by support means extending laterally and in which the files themselves are introduced vertically.

 These support means are most often formed by the hook-shaped ends of reinforcing elements which are fixed along the adjacent edges of the flaps delimiting the pocket, for example by means of staples or eyelets, and which are intended to cooperate with bars or hanging rods provided on each side of the tray or drawer intended to receive the files, transverse thereto.

 These reinforcing elements are usually formed by a folded metal strip, metal wire of large section, or a molded plastic part, having projecting ends in the form of hooks. At least one of these elements has a label holder.

 The production of hanging files of this type requires multiple operations and is therefore costly due to the installation and fixing of the reinforcing elements along the edges of the sheets forming the pockets.

 The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks by producing hanging files which can be produced in an extremely simple and rapid manner.

The object of the invention is to this end a hanging folder formed from a sheet of cardboard folded back to form two flaps constituting a pocket and the adjacent end edges of which are provided with support means, characterized in that it consists by a rectangular sheet comprising parallel fold lines delimiting at least two equal flaps and a
flap of small width, said support means being formed directly in the material of said flaps in the vicinity of the edges and / or fold lines delimiting the edges of the pockets.

 According to another characteristic of the invention, said support means are constituted by elongated openings extending perpendicular to said edges and to said fold lines.

 Referring to the drawing, FIG. 1 is a plan view of a blank cut to form a pocket or "hanging folder" according to the invention.

 This blank F, which as a whole has a rectangular shape, comprises two parallel transverse fold lines 1 and 2.

 The fold line 1, parallel to an end edge 7 (or width) of the blank F., defines with this edge a flap 8 th small width.

 The fold line 2 delimits on the one hand with the fold line 1 and on the other hand with the edge 9, opposite the edge 7, two flaps 10, 11 of equal surfaces.

 The blank F further comprises two pairs of equal openings of elongated shape 12a, 12b respectively disposed in the vicinity of the angles of the flaps 10, 11 furthest from the fold line 2, that is to say two openings 1- 2a in the vicinity of the fold line 1 and two openings 12b in the vicinity of the edge 9, these openings extending perpendicular to the edges 7.9 and the fold lines 1.2, in the vicinity of the lengths of the blank F.

 A tongue 13 is formed by partially cutting an opening 14 in the shutter 10 on only three sides so that the tongue 13 is attached to the flap 8 by its base, roughly on the fold line 1.

To form a pocket, or hanging folder, the blank F is folded along the fold line 2, in one direction or the other so as to bring the end edges 7 and 9 one on the other with the - openings 12a, 12b in coincidence, and the flap 8 is folded around the fold line 1 in the opposite direction as shown in FIG. 2, which gives a quite sufficient rigidity to the pocket thus formed, the notches 12C coming to coincide with the other openings 12a, 12b
This pocket is thus adapted to be carried by simple rods 15 which, as seen in the
Fig. 4, are threaded through the openings 12a, 12b and the notches 12C, whose elongated shape makes it possible to separate the edges of the pocket from one another.

 The rods 15 can be fixed in a conventional manner in a drawer or other piece of furniture.

 There is shown in FIG. 3 a preferred and advantageous embodiment of the invention, which consists of a blank G which comprises six fold lines 1 to 6 delimiting a single flap 8 and six flaps 20 to 25.

 In an analogous manner, pairs of elongated openings 12d-12g are provided on either side of a fold line in two, namely: the pairs of symmetrical openings 12b, 12d of the fold line 2, and the pairs of openings 12e, 12f on either side of the fold line 5, like the pairs of openings 12a and the notches 12C on either side of the fold line 1, that is to say say an opening in each corner of a set of two flaps 10 and 11 (20 and 21), 22 and 23 and 24 and 25.

 The blank G is folded around the fold lines 1 to 6 alternately in one direction and in the other, thus forming a set of three pockets suspended on rods such as 15.

 The flap 8 of a pocket or of a set of three pockets as described above can advantageously be folded over the rear edge 9 of another pocket or of another set of pockets to connect them together.

 It will be noted that in the embodiment of FIG. 3, the tongues 13, 13a, 13b are offset from each other.

 Thus, when the blank is folded, the tabs 13a, 13b 13, 13a, 13b remain unfolded and constitute marking surfaces allowing indexing of the contents of the pockets.

 Many filing cabinets are already fitted with rods such as 15 (Fig. 4) on which the hooks of conventional files are hung. It is understood, of course, that these rods can be used to carry the hanging files according to the invention whose width is, of course, at least equal, and preferably a little greater than that of the reinforcing elements of conventional files, including their hooks.

 It is understood of course that lton can produce blanks comprising any even number of flaps.

- CLAIMS  1.- Folders suspended'formed of a sheet of cardboard folded back to form two flaps constituting a pocket and the adjacent end edges of which are provided with support means, characterized in that it consists of a rectangular sheet comprising lines of parallel folding (1-6) delimiting any even number of equal flaps (10,11,20-25) and a flap (3) of  narrow width, said support means (12au129) being formed directly in the material of said flaps in the vicinity of the edges and / or fold lines delimiting the edges of the pockets.  2.- suspension file according to claim 1, characterized in that said support means are  a constituted by openings (12au129) extending perpendicularly to said edges (7, 9) and to said fold lines (1-6).  3.- suspension file according to one of claims l ét 2, characterized in that it comprises a tongue (13, 13a, 13b) of indexing formed by partial cutting of an opening (14) in the vicinity of a fold line on two (1, 3, 5).  4.- File suspended according to claim  a 3, characterized in that said tongues (13, 13 13b) are offset from each other.  5.- File suspended according to claim  a 2, characterized in that said openings (12a-12g) have an elongated shape and extend perpendicular to the edges and to the fold lines delimiting the edges of the pockets.  6.- hanging file according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that it comprises hooking means with a hanging file or a set of several hanging files integral with each other, said hooking means being constituted by said flap (8) of small width.
