Device for conveying a finely divided solid with the aid of a gas
The invention relates to a device for conveying a finely divided solid with the aid of a crash.
It is already known to demand a distributed solid with the aid of a gas.
For this purpose, a device is used in which the solid is fed into a gas stream by means of a screw conveyor. To prevent gas from flowing away over the screw conveyor. This visual hood has a decreasing pitch, so that the solid material is compressed when it moves along the screw, which forms a sufficiently gas-tight plug.
The disadvantage of such devices, however, is that the solid (because of this compression) is usually not mixed with the gas in a finely divided state, so that no homogeneous suspension is achieved.
The invention relates to a device for conveying a finely divided solid with the aid of a gas, characterized by a vertically positioned mixing chamber and a line arranged at the side of the chamber and provided with a screw conveyor for supplying the solid into the mixing chamber through its side wall, which mixing chamber on the lower side is connected to a line which is provided for supplying a gas, so that the solid in the Alisehkammer is set in a vortex by means of the supplied gas, and which mixing chamber continues on the upper side gradually into a line for conveying the suspended in the gas Solid over sert.
According to a special embodiment of the device according to the invention, the feed line for the solids provided with a screw conveyor merges on the outlet side into a very upwardly directed line which opens into the side wall of the mixing chamber.
On the basis of the description, exemplary embodiments of the invention shown in the accompanying drawing are explained in more detail.
Fig. 1 shows a vertical cross section of a device, and
Fig. 2 shows a vertical cross section of a modified embodiment.
In FIG. 1, the finely divided solid is brought from a bunker or feed hopper 1 into a feed line 3 provided with a screw conveyor by means of a rotary valve 2. The conveyor belt 4 transports the solids laterally in the line 3 into a vertically positioned mixing chamber 5, in which the solids are set into a vortex with the aid of the gas supplied through the line 6 and the grate 7 from below. The mixing chamber 5 gradually merges via the converging part R on the upper side into the discharge line 9, through which line the solid matter suspended in the gas can be conveyed to the destination, for example a reaction space.
When the device described is operated, no gas escapes through the feed line 3 for the solids provided with the screw conveyor 4. The screw conveyor 4 has a high speed of rotation, usually around 500 revolutions per minute.
The device also has the advantage that the finely divided solid in the mixing chamber 5 is evenly distributed into the gas. By gradually allowing the vertically positioned mixing chamber to merge into the discharge line 9, the speed of the suspension emerging from the chamber 5 increases As a result, the solid particles are also distributed very evenly in the gas in this discharge line 9.
Although there is no need to do so, it is often desirable to feed the gas through a grate 7, preferably a perforated base plate, to the solids that have entered the mixing chamber, thereby promoting an even distribution of the gas over the entire cross-section of the mixing chamber. Instead of a grate, another distribution device for the gas can also be used, while a second distribution device can also be attached under the grate in order to feed the gas as evenly as possible into the solid matter in the chamber.
The vertically positioned mixing chamber is preferably cylindrical, while the transition from the mixing chamber to the discharge line is conical. However, other shapes can also be used for the vertically positioned mixing chamber.
With the aid of the device, finely divided solids, such as catalysts attached to powdery carriers, finely divided ores, fine-grained carbonaceous material, etc., can be conveyed to a much higher, for example more than 25 m higher, reaction space. The particle size of the solid is to be provided in such a way that the solid can be mixed into a vortex. The solid preferably has a particle size of 20 to 250? ; however, larger parts can also be funded.
The dimensions of the mixing chamber can be relatively small. If a mixing chamber with a volume of 25 to 30 liters is used, a suspension of 50 kg solid per cubic meter of gas can be obtained, which can be conveyed at a speed of around 10 m per second over large distances of ten or more meters. The supply of the solid can amount to 2000 to 2500 kg per hour.
The fact that the swirling solid particles in the gas are tightly sealed in the mixing chamber and that such a quantity of solid matter is continuously fed in that a swirling mass of high tightness is maintained in the mixing chamber results in a suspension in the discharge line great tightness, where durci the device has a large capacity with fairly limited dimensions.
To promote a good effect of the device, a gas velocity of 5 to 100 cm per second and preferably of 20 to 40 cm per second is used in the mixing chamber. Due to the cross-section of the mixing chamber, one can choose such a diameter of the discharge line that the speed of the suspension in this line is a few meters per second. A discharge line with a diameter of 3 to 10 cm is usually used.
If the delivery has to be interrupted, the supply of the solid is first stopped so that the gas can empty the discharge line. The supply line now remains largely filled with solids.
The device described is particularly suitable for conveying finely divided solids close to the discharge line is enclosed spaces in which the solids are treated with vapors or gases in a vortex layer.
In case of inconvenience, a more effective effect can be achieved with the device according to FIG. 2, which arrangement corresponds completely to that of FIG. 1, with the exception that the supply line 3 for the solids provided with the conveyor tendon corner is in an upwardly sloping side wall and in the side wall of the mixing chamber 5 opening line 3? transforms.
When operating this device, it has now been shown that the permanent presence of an almost constant amount of finely divided solid in the inclined upwardly directed line 3a brings about a more expedient effect of the device, because it achieves a complete or almost complete gas seal, especially in those cases where the line 3 provided with the front tendon is only partially filled with the finely divided solid or even completely emptied.
As a result of the fact that even in these cases there is always solid in the line 3a, it is prevented that larger amounts of gas flow away through the line 3 and the bunker 1. Whether a more or less complete gas seal can be achieved is mainly determined by the length of the very long line 3α. conditionally.
The angle of inclination of the line 3a can fluctuate within wide limits, but this line is preferably to be arranged in such a way that the outlet opening of this line is in its entirety rather than the highest point of the supply opening.
In this way, when conveying solids, gas is prevented from flowing out of the mixing chamber 5 through a free passage on the inner upper side of the pipe 3? can flow along after the supply line 3.
