Ball joint The present invention relates to a ball joint; this joint is characterized by the fact that the ball joint is constituted by a sphere having slots so as to be able to be deformed and is housed in a housing formed of two parts each having a seat, one of which is in the form of a spherical cap , corresponds to the shape of the ball, and the other of which is truncated conical, these two parts being capable of being moved relative to each other so as to exert pressure on the ball, the pressure of the seat frustoconical on the patella acting on it following a circle to produce its deformation and its blocking.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevation of the gasket applied to the attachment of a projector.
Fig. 2 is a plan view from below of a detail, and FIG. 3 is an axial section of the seal.
The seal shown comprises a spherical ball 1 pierced with a threaded hole 2. Two slots 3 and 4 are made over part of the height of the ball; these slots, perpendicular to each other, both pass through the axis of the hole 2 and are each made from one end of this axis. Their goal is to make the sphere 1 deformable. This sphere is housed in a casing formed from two parts, namely a solid part 5 having a threaded rod 5a and a hollow part 6 screwing onto the first. Part 5 has a seat in the form of a spherical cap 7 corresponding to the shape of the ball joint 1, while part 6 has a tronconi seat 8.
Since the two parts 5 and 6 can be moved relative to each other, the two seats can be moved away from or brought closer to each other. In the latter case, the seat 8 acts on the sphere 1 in a circle and deforms it, which results in its blocking inside the housing. At the same time, a rod 9, screwed inside the hole 2, is also blocked. This rod passes through a hole 10 in part 6 of the housing.
The sphere 1 can be locked in all the desired angular positions allowed by the passage of the rod 9 through the hole 10. In the example shown, the ball joint is used for fixing a projector before being able to be oriented. in different directions. The projector, designated by 11 (fig. 1) is fixed to the end of the rod 9 while the rod 5a is fixed to a support 12, by means of a nut 13.
The rod 5a has a square part 5b penetrating into a square hole in the support 12; this part 5b also makes it possible to grip the part 5 by means of a tool to hold it in place when the part 6 or the nut 13 is screwed or unscrewed.
