Combination pedal on motor vehicles for controlling the fuel supply and the brake without changing the pedal. The invention relates to a combination pedal on motor vehicles for controlling the supply of fuel (gas or injection fuel) and the brake without changing the pedal.
Usually two pedals are provided on the motor vehicle, one for adjusting the throttle valve of the carburetor or the diesel injection pump and one for actuating the brake. It is therefore at the moment of greatest danger, for example in the event of sudden obstacles to driving, a change of the foot from one pedal to the other necessary. Disadvantageously, this takes a lot of time, and it is not uncommon for the foot to slip off the pedal due to the rush, or even the pedals are mixed up in the excitement. This is why the aim was to combine the pedals to form a combination pedal.
The known combination pedals could not put through in practice, however, because they are either built in a complicated manner, in that several levers are arranged in one another, or because they require inorgani cal switching movements from the foot, such as a rotation of the foot about an axis perpendicular to the sole of the foot or a lateral movement to the foot.
In order to avoid these disadvantages, according to the invention, two pedal parts are provided which are rotatably arranged about an axis provided between the pedal parts so that they are pivoted in opposite directions from an empty position in which they form a common treading surface for the foot You can use the to control the fuel supply by pressing the tip of the foot down and the brake by pressing the heel down.
Accordingly, the invention forms a particularly simple and reliable implementation of a combination pedal that is only actuated in the direction of the natural foot movement, the actuation movement of the one control corresponding to the movement to disable the other control. The pedal according to the invention it advantageously allows starting on mountain roads without the aid of hand brake or switching on hand throttle; it also makes it easier for people with injured legs to operate the vehicle.
The drawing shows a Ausführungsbei game of the invention in Fig. 1 in elevation, in Fig. 2 in plan and in Fig. 3 in the side tore, in which example the controlling movement of the pedal is carried by means of linkage on the fuel control member and the brake . On the axle 4 mounted in two bearing blocks 5, the pedal part 1 for adjusting the throttle valve or the injection pump and the pedal part 2 for actuating the brake are rotatably provided. These pedal parts are arranged at an angle of about 180 to one another and together form the tread surface for the foot.
The rod parts for transmitting the pedal movement are connected to the underside of the pedal parts. For this purpose, a hanging bar 3 is provided on the pedal part 2, which is equipped with several bores, -to be able to adjust the brake linkage in a simple manner or after. The pedal parts 1 and 2 are arranged approximately parallel to the car floor 7 in the empty position. They are held in this empty position by the connected rods.
However, as shown, a helical spring 8 can also be provided on the axis 4, the two ends of which each hold one of the two pivotable pedal parts 1, 2 in the empty position. The pedal part 1 actuates the throttle valve by pivoting in direction 1a and the pedal part 2 actuates the brake by pivoting in direction 2a. To limit the return movement or
Upward movement of the pedal parts after actuation can be provided according to FIG. 2 of one pedal part on its support 9 facing the axis 4 with a projection 10 'which, when the pedal parts are pivoted, moves in a groove 10 of the support of the other pedal part this is limited in movement.
The axle bearing can also be provided with a slot 6 in the bearing blocks 5 in order to be able to clamp the axle 4 in a position in which the spring 8 brings the pedal parts into the desired empty position.
The axis 4 and the spring 8 can be covered with a protective hood 12 which serves as a support to the web of the shoe. A raised edge 11 is advantageously attached to the rear end of the pedal part 2 for receiving the shoe paragraph to prevent the foot from sliding off this ver. Both pedal parts 1 and 2 are expediently mounted on the same axis 4, as shown in the drawing.
For the transmission of motion, instead of rods, cables, servomotors for negative pressure, positive pressure or oil pressure or electrical transmissionsmit tel can be provided. Furthermore, instead of a common axis for both pedal parts, a separate axis can also be provided for each pedal part, so that the pedal has two axes lying next to one another.
The pedal actuation, in which the tip of the foot of the accelerator or injection pedal part 1 is put into action, corresponds to the usual manner of actuation, and those in which the heel of the brake pedal part 2 is actuated, also the natural, organic-related Movement of the foot, so that a comfortable, safe and natural requirements corresponding actuation of these controls is guaranteed.
