Geschosshiilse.
Bullet sleeve. In known firearms, the Pa tronenhülse is removed when opening the breech by any means. In the case of automatic weapons, charging malfunctions occur because this ejection is not carried out correctly, be it that the ejector or the outlier is not working properly, or that there are other causes.
By using the projectile case according to the invention, these disadvantages can be avoided. The bullet case is marked by at least one opening in the case base.
In the accompanying drawing, an exemplary embodiment from the subject of the invention is shown.
The single figure shows schematically a cross section through a cartridge in a Pi stolenlauf.
The barrel of the firearm is designated with 1, the projectile with 2 and the projectile case with 3. The case contains the usual powder 4 and an ignition device 5. The case is advantageously not made of metal, but of cheap and lightweight plastic. It has the same outer diameter as the projectile and has a reinforced base 6 with a nozzle-shaped opening 7. The nozzle length can, for. B. wear a third of the sleeve diameter be.
However, it is important that the edge of the base is thick, that the base cannot tip over in the barrel of the weapon without the sleeve wall, and that the base is so strong that it can be ejected as a whole from the barrel. The opening in the bottom should be shaped so that some of the propellant gases can exert a thrust on the case. As in the exemplary embodiment, this can be achieved in that the opening 7 widens towards the outside of the case and that the case base has an edge protruding to the rear, which forms a space 11 with the barrel end 10. The ground of the projectile 2 on the one hand and the metal ring 8 and the wire 9 on the other hand serve as the feed line to the electrical ignition device.
The mode of operation of a cartridge with the sleeve described can be written very simply be: the ignition can be initiated by known means, eg. B. with a coil, which is particularly cheap for automatic weapons. The exploding powder 4 will give the projectile the necessary impulse. However, some of the resulting gases will escape through the opening 7, ge long behind the sleeve and in any case push the sleeve forward to the barrel at the moment when the bullet has left the barrel and the pressure between the case and bullet suddenly disappears .
The sleeve described is particularly suitable for automatic weapons such as machine guns, assault rifles and machine pistols. Loading malfunctions, which often occur with these weapons because the ejection mechanism does not work, are no longer possible. Furthermore, the ammunition supply has a significantly lower weight. because the sleeves are smaller in diameter than the sleeves commonly used up to now and because they can be made of plastic, cardboard or something similar instead of metal.
