Description
Process for the manufacture of a powdery stain remover. The invention relates to a process for the production of a powdery stain remover, which is applied by simply placing on the stain to be removed.
The invention is characterized in that finely sieved synthetic aluminum and / or magnesium silicates, which were obtained at a precipitation temperature of up to 100 C, are soaked with fat-dissolving substances so that the impregnating agent is stored in the small cavities of the particles, after which the powder impregnated in this way is allowed to dry until it appears dry on the outside.
To remove stains, the powder is sprinkled onto the fleece, it is advantageous to rub it in a little and then brush it out. Here, the solvents stored in the cavities exercise their stain-removing effects quickly and vigorously.
Possible solvents are: gasoline, terpene, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, monochlorobenzene, trichlorethylene and tetrachlorethylene, methyl alcohol, ammonia solution or any other liquids that can be used as stain removers or degreasing substances and that are suitable to soak the silicates and hold them firmly through the cavities of the same until use.
The production of the silicate can advantageously be carried out as follows. Sodium silicate solution (water glass containing 26 / o SiO2 and 17 / o NaOH) is added to a solution of aluminum sulfate and / or magnesium sulfate. The mixture is heated to a temperature of 100 ° C. with advantage. The alkaline solution is then blunted with acid and left to stand until the sedimentation of the precipitate is complete.
It is then decanted, the precipitate washed out with water, the washing water removed by filtration or centrifugation, pressed out using a hydraulic press and dried.
A silicate produced in this way has a more active surface and therefore an absorbency that is 5 to 10 times greater than that of natural diatomaceous earth or kieselguhr.
The invention is explained using the following exemplary embodiment.
500 g of an aluminum silicate obtained according to the above information are sieved until a maximum degree of fineness is reached. Then the sieved aluminum silicate is poured into a container which is filled with such an amount of carbon tetrachloride that it completely covers the aluminum silicate. Then shake a few moments to bring the silicate into intimate contact with the liquid. After sedimentation, the excess liquid is carefully poured off and the silicate, completely soaked in the liquid, is allowed to dry.
Before the silicate is soaked with the stain remover, the silicate can be heated, after which it acquires a brownish tint and has increased surface activity. After drying, the product can be placed in suitable containers and is then ready for use. It is generally used in powder form. However, you can support its effect by moistening it with a little water.
