Method of constructing a double-glazed carpentry enclosure. The present invention relates to a method of constructing a double-glazed joinery closure, such as a door or a window.
We already know the double closures which are constituted by two separate uprights, fixed to the same frame and assembled by means of hinges. These double closures require the separate work of each upright and, therefore, their cost price is quite high.
To reduce the work required for this type of closure, it has already been proposed to work simultaneously on the two uprights of the closures, starting from a single piece of wood with a square section.
This piece of wood is molded using appropriate tools so as to present, in a suitable arrangement, the shape of each upright of the double closure, the uprights remaining joined together until the finishing operation. Then, by a longitudinal milling operation, the two uprights are separated and, on each upright,
it notches the housing of the hinges intended to assemble the two uprights of the two leaves which form the. double closure.
This operation of preparing the hinge housings, however, involves an excessive loss of time which reduces, sometimes significantly, the advantage that the method described has over the old way of silencing.
The object of the present invention is to obviate this drawback and to provide a method which makes it possible to obtain the housings of the hinges at the same time as the machining of the uprights of the closure.
In the method according to the invention, the uprights of the two leaves of the iron are obtained from a single piece of wood, with a square section, which is worked so as to obtain the moldings of the two leaves,
and in which the two uprights are separated when the upright moldings are completed; this method is characterized in that the housings of the hinges intended to assemble the two uprights are drilled when the two uprights still form a single part.
The drilling of the hinge housings can be carried out either as the first operation of the work of the piece of wood, that is to say before the operation of molding the two uprights, or after the formation of these moldings, but before the separation of the two uprights.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an implementation of the method according to the invention applied to the manufacture of a double-glazed window. In the drawing, FIG. 1 shows from the end the piece of wood with a square section which is used for the construction of the two uprights.
-Fig. 2 shows the key part in fig. 1 after the key uprights molding operation, with half drilling for the housing of a hinge. Fig. 3 shows, in plan, the fine part of the two uprights assembled by a hinge,
and fig. 4 is a section along line IV-IV of fg. 3.
On the face of the part 1 (fig.1), we first practice, by a tying operation, a groove 2 which serves to form the part of the uprights directed towards the embrasure of the window. Then (fig. 2),
the face lb- of part 1 is worked to obtain the mooring of the two uprights 3 and 4 of the double-glazed window. On the fg. 2, it can be seen that these amounts include the felts 5 and 6 respectively for the windows.
When the molding operation is completed, but before separating the two uprights, holes 8 are made at determined points along the length of the uprights for the hinge housings.
In the case shown, it has been assumed that the hinges provided for the assembly of the uprights are of the cylindrical type and, consequently, the bores 8 are also cylindrical. The diameter D of these holes is chosen according to the outside diameter of the hinges used.
By way of example, the diameter D can be chosen equal to 25 mm. It is obvious that one can perform a sufficient number of holes for the assembly of the amounts of the double-glazed window.
After drilling the housings 8, the two uprights 3 and 4 are separated by performing longitudinal milling 7. After this milling operation, the hinge housings are formed by cylindrical segments 8 'and 8 "respectively. ,
as indicated in fig. 3.- _ In these housings 8 'and 8 "are mounted the parts 9ra and 9b of the hinge, which are, moreover, fixed to the uprights 3 and 4 by screws 10a and 10b respectively.
Fig. 4 shows the cross section of the two uprights assembled by the hinge.
From the previous description, it emerges that the execution of the holes for the hinges before the separation of the uprights 3 and 4 substantially facilitates the mounting of the hinges and the assembly of the uprights.
After the separation of these, we did. than to house the parts of the hinges in their respective housings, without having to worry about matching the parts of each hinge. In addition, the housings are useful landmarks for the exact assembly of the rising gods.
The double-glazed window described above has cylindrical hinges and therefore the holes are cylindrical. It is obvious that the same process can be applied when the hinges used for the assembly of the uprights have a different shape.
In this case, the holes 8 would have the appropriate Parma to accommodate the parts of the chosen hinge, and could be executed by any suitable tool, such as a chisel or a mortiser.
