Fig. <B>1</B> ist ein Längssehnittdurch die Vor- richtung.

Method and device for treating a cellulosic pulp. The invention relates to a method and a device for treating a cellulose-containing pulp. After one, Ausfüh approximately example of the method can, for. B. wood pulp can be bleached, this example being characterized by a high degree of utilization of the bleaching agent, an excellent brightness of the bleached end product and a high production output, based on the cost of the facility.
In this exemplary embodiment, it was found that wood fiber pulp, in which the fiber content is so large that there is practically no water in the liquid state in the mass in the spaces between the fibers, is convenient, fast and economical a continuous press.
Embodiments of the method according to the invention are suitable for bleaching fiber pulp which contain approximately 30 to 90% and more of dry fiber substance.
An implementation example is particularly favorable, in which the pasty mass contains practically no water in its free form, but in some cases a satisfactory result can be achieved even with a small proportion of free water.
The proportion of solehem free water is always kept as low as possible, because it is advantageous, although not decisive, that the space occupied by the water within the mass is in relation to the ! the total space occupied is small.
The method according to the invention is carried out in such a way that fiber pulp is introduced into a treatment zone and whirled through there with air and while at the same time being divided until the individual fibers are separated from one another, it is moved from the input end of the zone to the output end The treatment substance is introduced into this zone and subjected to a penetration with the cellulose fibers there,
whereupon the mixture of increasing intensity is stirred and removed from the zone.
The above-mentioned method can be implemented with various devices. A preferred embodiment, & sforni. Such a device is characterized by a shaft that drifts in a frame, one end of which is attached to a toothed rotating disk, the teeth of which are on the side facing away from the shaft and opposite a fixed annular disk the teeth of which are directed against the rotating disk and grip between its teeth,
by a housing surrounding both panes with a central feed opening arranged above the center of the fixed pane and an outlet opening opening on the outside, and by a feed line that passes through the housing and the fixed pane at a point between the bisecting point and the end point of the second third of the distance from the inner edge to the outer edge of the two discs.
On, hand of the drawing example, embodiments of the invention he explained. The drawing illustrates a device with details shown partially enlarged for better clarification.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section through the device.
FIG. 2 is a plan view of a component part of the device on an enlarged scale, and FIG. 3 is a section along the line III-III of FIG.
The device shown in FIG. 1 has a stationary housing which, to facilitate assembly, consists of an upper part 11, an intermediate part 12 and a base 13 </B> consists, which are connected to each other by screw bolts 14 and 15 and flailsellen.
The middle housing part 12 has a transverse wall <B> 16 </B> which, in the area of its upper end rim-lun, forms a central passage opening of a trough.
The upper part <B> 11 </B> of the housing is designed with a central feed opening <B> 17 </B> through which the fiber paste can not be fed into the interior by means of any arbitrary illustrated supply device can take place.
The underside of the housing part <B> 11 </B> is shaped in such a way that it - around the opening> <B> 17 </B> has a corresponding to the trough of the transverse wall <B> 16 </B>, downward ge swept annular trough forms so. that a ring channel 1 is formed through which the pulp can be conveyed to the lateral A-Listrittsölln-Lm # g <B> 18 </B>.
The transverse wall <B> 16 </B> of the intermediate housing 1.2 is designed with a downwardly directed connector <B> 19 </B>, which forms an extension of the central space. In addition, an essentially solid pipe socket 22 is provided which is fastened to the underside of the transverse wall <B> 16 </B> by means of screw bolts <B> 23 </B> and the socket <B> 19 </B> surrounds. The lower end of the pipe socket, 22 is connected to a plate 24 drilled through in the middle by means of locking bolts 25 or in some other way. The bores of the part 19 and the plate 24 are designed with bearing surfaces 26 and 27.
Within the central bores of the housing parts. <B> 16, 19 </B> and 24, a cylinder <B> 29 </B> is mounted in an adjustable manner in the axial direction, which is designed with outer bearing surfaces in the area of its upper and lower end, to interact with the storage areas <B> 26 </B> and <B> 27 </B>. A wedge 34, which engages in corresponding grooves in the bearing surface <B> 27 </B> and the outer bearing surfaces of the cylinder <B> 29 </B>, rotates the cylinder <B> 29 </ B> prevented.
In "the displaceable cylinder <B> 29 </B> a central shaft <B> 28 </B> is rotatably mounted in bearings <B> 32 </B> and <B> 33 </B>, which counter Play in the longitudinal direction through a collar <B> 61 </B> which is formed in one piece with the upper end of the shaft, and through a ring <B> attached below the lower bearing <B> 33 </B> At the lower end, the shaft 28 is provided with a V-belt pulley <B> 31 </B>, via which it can be driven by a power shaft (not shown).
For the precise adjustment of the vertical position of the displaceable cylinder <B> 29 </B> in relation to: the bearing surfaces <B> 26 </B> and <B> 27 </B> and for its fixation in the set position Appropriate means are provided. The means shown particularly suitable for this # because of its great accuracy and the possibility of easy adjustment consists of a tubular, non-rotatable screw <B> 35 </B> which the cylinder <B> 29 </B> between the bearing surfaces <B> 26 </B> and <B> 27 </B>.
The adjusting tube 35 is provided at its lower end with an inwardly directed flange 37 and with an external thread with a rectangular thread profile and engages in the adjusting nut 46 which is provided with internal thread . This is rotatably mounted in the housing of the device, j-edo (2fi by the upper flange 47 and the worm wheel 49 (to which it is connected by the Se, hra "LL, bpin <B> 52 </B>) secured against misalignment in the axial direction.
The flange 47 and the reconciliation wheel 49 are in close contact with the fixed ring 48, which is formed on the inside of the housing part 22.
Lugs <B> 36, </B>: which run downward on the connecting piece <B> 19 </B>, engage in corresponding recesses uno-en of the upper flange of the adjusting screw <B> 35 </B> a -and alleviate this at a twist, while they allow an axial b, ewe, nL-ng.
A strong coil spring <B> 39 </B> surrounds the adjusting screw, <B> 35 </B> and rests on the flange <B> 37 </B> whereby it rests on the shoulder <B> 38 </B> of the cylinder <B> 29 </B>, which is displaceable in the bearing part <B> 19 </B> in the C, axial direction, exerts a pressure. The normal working position of the cylinder 29 and the parts carried by it is determined in the antenna direction by the pressure of the spring 39 and in the up direction by the adjustable collar 42, the by the sieve tube 43 is secured in its position.
The cylinder <B> 29, </B> together with the shaft, the shaft bearings -and the disk <B> 57, </B> constantly rest on the spring <B> 39. </B> In the event that If metallic or hard <B> 3 </B> foreign bodies get into the device with the Paserbrel, the spring gives way. and enables the disks to be separated from one another so far that the object can pass between them without damaging the teeth, the bearings, or other parts m-L.
After the foreign body has passed through, the panes return to their original position.
On the outside of the adjusting screw 46, between the flange 47 and the Sehneekenrad 49, and on the inside of the ring 48 Laoerflächen <B> 53 </B> and 54 are seen before which the adjusting screw <B> 35 </B> and hold her mother 46 in a concentric position.
The rotation of the mat 46 takes place by means of a chord 55, which engages in the quick-release gear 49 and on a horizontal shaft mounted in the housing 130 of the alignment cable 56 </B> that carries a handwheel, not shown, at its outer end. By operating the handwheel 3, an exact setting of the shaft <B> <U> 9, 8 </U> </B> in the upward or downward direction can be carried out comfortably and with great ease can be achieved.
Due to the strong and long lateral surfaces <B> 26, 27 </B> in which the displaceable cylinder <B> 29 </B> slides, vibrations of the shaft 28 or a misalignment result from the exact axis position ve-T- prevents, so that the fine adjustment of the shaft 28 aheh, is not changed at high speed and heavy load.
On the upper end of the shaft <B> 28 </B> is a strong horizontal rotor, Gheibe <B> 57 </B> wedge <B> 60 </B> with its lower surface against the collar <B> 61 </B> of the shaft. At the upper end of the cylinder <B> 29 </B> there is provided a cover plate <B> 58 </B> which is formed with a central bore for accommodating the collar <B> 61 </B> and which is attached to the cylinder <B> 29 </B> is fastened to the upper end with visual screws <B> 59 </B> and prevents water, dirt or other foreign bodies from entering the cylinder <B> 29 </B> and to the bearings <B > 32 </B> and <B> 33 </B> prevented.
At the upper end of the shaft <B> 28 </B> a cone <B> 62 </B> is fastened by the screw <B> 63 </B>, which the rotor disc <B> 57 </B> firmly against presses the collar <B> 61 </B> and forms a smooth, outwardly downwardly running surface on which the fiber pulp, guided through the open # Lug <B> 17 </B> into the arrangement, glides along without hindrance can.
A plurality of vanes 64, usually two to five, are attached to the cone 62, which when the shaft 282 rotates, the disk and the cone 62 attached to it </B> convey the fiber paste in a radial direction t-Li4g to the outside and him. between the upper surface of the disk <B> 57 </B> and the lower surface of the housing part <B> 11 </B>. Several scoops <B> 65 </B> are attached to the outer edge of the disk <B> 57 </B>, which convey the pulp to the outlet opening <B> 18 </B> and out of the device.
A friction plate <B> 66 </B> is fastened with screws <B> 67 </B> to the top of the rotor disk <B> 57 </B>. Likewise, a similarly designed friction plate <B> 68 </B> with screws <B> 69 </B> is attached to the inside of (1 -xehäusete, ils 11) in such a way that it connects to the lower friction plate <B> 66 </ B> is opposite, the upper friction plate is fixed, -W4hr # eii, 1 the lower friction plate, rotates.
As shown even more clearly in FIG. 2, the working surfaces of the friction plates 66 and 68, which converge outwards in the radial direction, are provided with teeth or striking elements 72 / B> trained. The thickness of the treatment zone between these plates thus tapers outwards. The teeth of the lower friction plate have a perpendicular face. in the form of an equilateral triangle with a horizontal base.
The flanks of the teeth run up to a small distance, perpendicular to this from the frontal surface, so that a solid plate is created, which is thereby rigidly supported. is that the tooth edges converge backwards to a point which is located in a plane containing the base of the equisecular forehead triangle: a-Ld of the center perpendicular of the base.
The teeth are arranged in rows, which are located on an arc of rotation of the rotor disk <B> 57 </B>, with the teeth in one row having approximately the same dimensions. The teeth become smaller and smaller in the successive rows and are all the closer together, <B> the </B> farther away they are from the center of the rotor disk <B> 57 </B>. In the outer edges, the face of the following tooth sometimes cuts off the back part of the preceding tooth in the same row.
To the same extent as the dimensions of the teeth in the rows become smaller, the rows of teeth are arranged closer to one another, so that a number of circular grooves with a triangular cross-section arise, which grooves lie between the rows of teeth and their depth and opening width in decreases in the radial direction towards the outside.
The number of teeth in the innermost row is dimensioned so that sufficient space remains free for the fiber pulp to enter. The number of teeth of each next row of teeth in relation to that of the previous row of teeth behaves roughly as
EMI0004.0034
The teeth of the upper fixed friction plate 68 are formed in substantially the same way as those of the lower friction plate and are arranged so that each row of teeth engages in a groove between two rows of the lower friction plate .
They are arranged so that their end faces are opposite the end faces of the teeth of the lower friction plate. The clear distance between the teeth of the two friction plates on the inner edge of the friction plates, where the largest teeth are located, is: greatest and decreases evenly along the radius of rotation to the outside to a value that is often only a few hundredths of a millimeter.
In this way, a zone is formed in which the pulp fed through the feed opening 17 and thrown outward by centrifugal force and the blades 64 is subjected to a mechanical fiber separation effect, the intensity of which depends on the larger number of the teeth in the outer rows and the decrease in measurements and distances as well as due to the fact
that the outer elements, because of their greater distance from the center of rotation, pass one another with greater speed than the larger elements, increases progressively. At the entrance to: the zone, there is a constant turbulence with air.
The fiber pulp to be treated is continuously moved through a fiber separation zone, in which it is subjected to a mechanical separation of the fibers with increasing intensity, while the fibers are in a correspondingly selected section within the fiber separation zone with a treatment agent in finely divided form Touch, i, m, g are brought.
Gaseous treatment agitators can be used directly, while liquid treatment agents can be atomized and used in the form of extremely small droplets.
The treatment agent can be introduced into the Yaser separation zone directly at a point in between, so that the subsequent division of the fibers and the stirring of the same cause the finest concentration of the treatment agent in the zone itself. The fiber separation zone has such an intensity and effectiveness, that in the fiber product emerging from this zone, all fibers are separated from one another.
In order to achieve the best results, the fine division of the liquid treatment agent should be such that the individual droplets are extremely small.
Such a separation of the fibers and atorization of the treatment agent in connection with the vigorous agitation of the entire mass in the fiber separation zone, particularly in that section of the same which follows the section in which the treatment agent is mixed with the fibers, brings about It is known that the small droplets of the atomized treating-ink instantly touch almost the entire surface of each individual fiber.
The liquid, treatment agent is introduced into the fiber separation zone at a pan, which is mass from the exit point of the fiber from the same. is so far away that after the addition of the treatment agent still so.
there is a lot of time and a sufficient execution agg takes place that the atomized treatment agent touches the entire surface of the individual fibers, where a good degree of efficiency with regard to the use of the treatment agent can be achieved. The device shown can be used especially when bleaching wood aserboard, such as.
B. wood pulp, sulfite, soda, Kraft - and half indigenous. Fiber pulp, can be applied.
The conditions under which the fibers are brought into contact with the treatment agent can differ significantly from the conditions prevailing in older methods.
As a result of the low water content and the high fiber content and the vigorous mixing of air, which is exposed to the pulp in the fiber separation zone, the muse can achieve a state in which the separated individual fibers with a.
large part of their surface come into contact with air instead of the treatment agent, which soaks the mass completely. As a result of the high PasAr content of the mass, there is not only no noticeable amount of water between the fibers and no liquid film on their surface, but the individual:
Fibers can even cause the absorption and adsorption of additional Feuellti "(, yl-, eitsin, narrow.
Under these conditions, the fibers have an affinity for small droplets of an atomized liquid treatment agent or a gaseous treatment belt, which cannot be exploited in conventional processes in which the fibers are completely surrounded by liquids.
As a result of this affinity, not only can the intimate contact of the treatment agent 9 with the fiber surface be facilitated, but an active and rapid penetration of the bending agent into the fiber itself can also be made possible.
Since vigorous stirring during and after the addition of the coating agent, Jessen supports even distribution within the mass, especially when liquids are used, because they are mechanically atomized in droplets or in particles that approach the colloidal state because the finely divided particles are distributed almost instantaneously and evenly over the essentially coherent air within the mass.
In certain parts of the mass the fibers have little or no tendency to soak themselves up with liquid treatment agent at the expense of de-, fibers in other parts, even if the liquid is added directly to the stirred fiber substance, provided that the distribution and atomization of the liquid is effected so quickly that the freshly added liquid does not have time to saturate the fibers with which it first came into contact.
As soon as a drop wants to get stuck on the outside of a fiber, it is immediately carried away or wiped off by an adjacent fiber.
The air penetrating into the treatment zone is whirled through and the cellulosic pulp is introduced into this zone undivided into forin and subjected to a progressively increasing number of blows which act in the width of this zone and at the same time cause the material to move in the cause the zone to lie perpendicular to this, whereby the material, in a partially divided state, is brought into contact with the air contained in this zone and is further beaten,
whereupon liquid treatment substances are introduced into this section and are dispersed into individual particles by mechanical action, which are mixed with the fibers of the cellulose-containing material and moved through the section perpendicular to the impact, whereupon the material , in a further section of the treatment zone with the air contained therein through a
progressively increasing number of strokes is further divided and mixed and finally removed from the treatment zone.
According to another embodiment, the cellulose-containing material is introduced into the inner part of an annular, outwardly tapering, radially outwardly tapering air zone, whereupon the fibers are partially separated from one another and in a further <B> Section of this zone can be brought into closer contact with the air it contains,
In which section a liquid treatment substance is also introduced and mechanical shocks are atomized into particles which are simultaneously distributed in the air contained in the section, whereupon the material with the liquid of a progressively increasing number exposed to tangentially directed blows and at the same time moved in a radial direction through the end section of the treatment zone, removed from the zone and collected.
It can also be advantageous to carry out the combined separation and wetting process of the fibers in such a way that the bleach to be divided and a distributed bleach to come into contact with. Fiber body forms a thin layer so that the individual fibers can easily be separated from one another. It is important to ensure that the fibers are tightly broken or separated, since the formation of a large proportion of short fibers has a beneficial effect on the end product.
According to another embodiment, it is also possible to proceed in such a way that a cellulose fiber pulp is continuously whirled through with air and passed through a fiber separation zone in which the fibers are separated from one another with progressively increasing intensity, whereby at one between the sections with the lowest and the greatest fiber separation effect,
Liquid bleach is continuously supplied to the lying point of this zone and brought into contact with the surface of the separated fibers, whereupon the fibers containing the bleaching agent evenly distributed are removed from the fiber separation zone.
It has been shown that the greatest bleaching effect <B> per </B> unit of the oxygen contained in the bleach can be obtained if a pulp is used that is between <B> 30 </B> and <B> 90% by weight of dry fiber substance.
If the pulp contains less than <B> 30 </B> percent by weight of fibrous material, the bleaching agent shows a considerably poorer utilization, measured by the increase in the bleaching effect <B> depending </B> on oxygen input. This is possibly due to the fact that the absorption capacity of the fibers decreases when the fiber content of the pulp is reduced below <B> 30 </B> 1 / a.
When bleaching wooden sandals, the fibers can be brought into contact with a more concentrated lead surface than is possible with those processes that require the fibers to be dissolved beforehand in water. The supplied liquid lead can be brought into contact with the fibers without dilution.
It can also happen that during the atomization of the aqueous bleach, a significant evaporation of the water occurs, which also contributes to a concentration of the bleaching solution within the fiber mass. Irrespective of this theory, it was found that the. Bleach certain fiber pulps with a specific bleaching agent the amount of bleaching required per pulp unit compared to # above the amount required when using a liquid fiber suspension, up to.
9-511 / o and more can be reduced without a reduction in the lead effect occurring.
The treatment can <B> - </B> be carried out within a wide temperature range. <B> The </B> temperature used in the individual case depends to a certain extent on the specific pulp, on the treatment agent used and on others Factors. However, temperatures should be that high. that they can cause the treatment agent to decompose must be avoided.
In certain cases it has been found that favorable results can be achieved if <B> per </B> weight unit of fiber pulp a <B> k * </B> smaller amount d (% treatment agent at a lower temperature in combination with a longer reaction period after the bleaching and pulp has been mixed than if a slightly higher proportion of treatment agent is used at higher temperatures and the pulp to be treated is exposed to the action for a shorter period of time.
Sometimes the treatment can also be carried out at normal temperature without heating or cooling the pulp or the treatment agent. Favorable results were achieved at temperatures of <B> 30 </B> to 6011 and with a reaction time of <B> 30 </B> minutes or a little more. Since the reaction time depends to a certain extent on the temperature at which the treatment is carried out, the treatment can, if longer reaction times, e.g. B.
Because of the necessary storage or processing of the treated fiber part, do not disturb before further processing, even at low temperatures. In the. In most cases, however, the pulp can be fed directly from the plant in which the fibers are bleached to the paper manufacture or another processing process by pumps or the like storage should be avoided.
The pulp is fed to the device illustrated in the drawing through the feed opening <B> 17 </B>, the rotor disk <B> 57 </B> rotating at high speed with the lower friction plate <B> 66 </B>.
Due to the rotating blades 64, the pulp is moved along the surface of the cone <B> 62 </B> and the rotor disk <B> 57 </B> under the influence of the centrifugal force and the teeth,
<B> 72 </B> of the upper and lower friction plates <B> 68 </B> and <B> 66 </B> moved through the fiber separation zone between these plates and whirled through with air. In this zone, the fiber pulp is subjected to a fiber separating effect, which is caused by the rapid passing of the teeth of the surrounding lower friction plate on the teeth of the fixed upper friction plate.
The separating effect increases in the course of the outward movement of the pulp due to the progressively decreasing distance between the facing surfaces of the plates, the decreasing distance between the pairs of teeth and the greater number and speed of the pulp, # with those of the pulp comes into contact with it as it passes through these zones.
After exiting the friction plates, the fiber pulp is conveyed out of the device through the seliau # eln <B> 65 </B>, the ring-shaped channel and finally at the A-Lulass opening <B> 18 </B> .
During the passage of the pulp through the, fiber separation zone, the treatment is:
u.iigmittel, preferably in <B> f </B> liquidx form, supplied at a point which is so far away from the end of the zone that a sufficient atomization and distribution of the ultrafine suspended solution within the pulp is ensured before this leaves the fiber separation zone. The liquid treatment agent is supplied through a supply line <B> 73,
</B> which is guided through an opening in the upper housing part Ilindurehge- and by means of a thread in a threaded opening of the upper friction plate <B> 66 </B> is deaf <B> 1 </B> and outer e <B> '</B> the solution from a storage container, not shown, via RegLüier-Lings organs' in a predetermined amount is umpteen.
In practice, it has been shown to be advantageous to bring the treatment agent into contact with the fiber pulp shown at three equidistant points between the bisection point and the end point of the second third of the distance from the inner edge to the outer edge of the two panes > are located in the fiber separation zone, i.e. measured from the point of entry of the fiber egg into this zone; in the radial direction.
It is of course possible to use more feed rollers for introducing the treatment agent into the fiber separation zone, which are arranged at different distances, e.g. B. the bleach can be introduced somewhere in the two thirds of the treatment zone.
For a more detailed explanation, data are given in the following examples with regard to the composition of the treatment agent, the working stone temperature and the ratio of the treatment agent to the fiber material.
<I> Example<B>1:</B> </I> A device of the type described above was used in which the row of teeth with the largest teeth consisted of <B> 18 </B> teeth, each of which had 22 teeth <U> -mm </U> was high and its tip was 204 mm from the center of rotation. The outermost row consisted of <B> 372 </B> teeth "each <B> 9 </B> mm high and their tips <B> 350 </B> <U> mm </U> from the rota The lower friction plate was set in rotation at a speed of <B> 1750 </B> revolutions, with an approximate distance between the largest teeth on the inner edge of the friction plates of <B> 6.3 </B> mm, which decreased evenly up to a minimum distance of approximately <B> 1.5 </B> mm between the smallest teeth on the outer edge of the friction plates.
Wood pulp, consisting of approximately <B> 10 </B> 11 / o fir and <B> 90 </B>% poplar with 40% dry fiber substance, was produced in an amount of <B> 1.25 </B> tons <B> every </B> hour <B> (0.5 </B> tons of dry fiber) is continuously fed into the machine.
A lead solution was obtained by mixing <B> 3900 kg </B> water, <B> 135 kg </B> 50% diluted - \ ÄTasserst, o, lis-Ltperox.y.dlösun.- and <B> 500 kg </B> Sodium limsilicate solution (12 <B>% </B> Na20).
The bleach solution, which actually contained 1.62% hydrogen peroxide (3.2,4'9 / o 50 open solution) became the fiber separation zone of the device at one point , which was located approximately in the second third of the way through the zone in the sense of the flow direction of the pulp, supplied in an amount of 20 # 5 liters <B> (208 kg) per </B> hour. The temperature of the pulp and the bleaching solution was about 301).
The fiber pulp emerging from the fiber separation zone had a fiber content of 34.4 liters of dry matter and, a pi, between <B> 9.5 </B> and <B> 10. </B> The fiber pulp was immediately used for storage , packed up. From time to time samples were taken of the pulp emerging from the machine and its brightness with the help of the) #eGleneralElectrie. Reflectance meter measured.
These samples resulted in a brightness that was <B> 8 </B> to 12 points greater than that of the unbleached pulp.
Individual packs of the bleached pulp were opened from time to time and the brightness of the same was determined. It was found that the brightness during storage, albeit to a lesser extent, reached a maximum increase of about 16 panits after about three days.
At the end of the third day, the pi, of the pulp was approximately <B> 6.8. </B> Samples carried out after approximately three months showed that the bleached pulp was bad. no decrease in brightness occurred after longer storage.
<I> Example </I> 2: In the device used in example <B> 1 </B>, ground wood pulp, consisting of a mixture of approximately 60%, was used. Poplar,
30 1% fir and 10% balsa fir with one. Content of <B> 38% </B> dry fiber substance is continuously added (supplied. By mixing <B> m </B> <B> 23 </B> 114 <B> kg </B> water, <B > 0.5 kg </B> magnesium sälfate,
A bleaching solution was prepared with 100 kg sodium silicate 18s-Lmg (12% Xa20), 96 kg 50% dilute hydrogen superoxide and 88 kg sodium superoxide.
<B> 2290 </B> liters <B> (2380 kg) per </B> ton of fiber droplet substance were fed from this solution into the fiber separation zone. The temperature of the pulp and the bleaching solution was <B> 600. </B> The pulp exiting the fiber separation zone had a pl between <B> 9.5 </B> and <B> 10 . </B> An increase in brightness of the fiber pulp as in example <B> 1 </B> was obtained.
It was found that with the aid of the device described, the fibers are not only separated from one another, but that the fiber pulp is also kneaded to a much greater extent than was previously possible. As has been established by microscopic examinations, the individual fibers are also not unnecessarily broken.
If the machine is set so that there is a very small gap at the outer end of the fiber separation zone, e.g. B. <B> 0.79 </B> mm or less, the fiber pulp is well defibrated, and the fibers are gelled so that they can be felted immediately.
The degree of fiberization and crimping of the fibers, which can be obtained in this way, is considerably greater than was previously possible, and the fibers treated in this way have a usefulness which could not previously be achieved with wood fibers.
