Chamber intended for chemical reactions.
The present invention has a chemical reaction chamber made of non-metallic material. Material existing walls delimiting the chamber space, which is characterized in that the walls delimiting the chamber space laterally consist of foils of thermoplastic material, which are welded together tightly and in this way fastened with their upper ends inside a supporting structure to an upper circumferential frame bar of the same are that they form a closed, drooping coat.
The accompanying drawings show a filter tower (Gay-Lussac tower) for the production of sulfuric acid, which is an embodiment of the subject of the invention, and shows:
Fig. 1 the overall view of:
the chamber forming the tower,

3 shows a partial vertical section of the tower chamber according to III-III of FIGS. 1, 2 and 4,
4 shows the top view of the tower section shown in FIGS. 2 and 3,
5 shows a detail of the suspension of the chamber cover on the supporting structure, in a sectional view and on a larger scale,
FIG. 6 shows a section near VI-VI of FIG. 4, on a larger scale, lmd
7 shows a section through the gas discharge tube, according to VII-VII of FIG. 4 and on a larger scale.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the support structure of the reaction chamber has an iron, tower-like framework, the posts M of which each have a cross section composed of two U-irons and an upper extension M 'for placing a protective roof and which are covered with lead sheet F Sit on the concrete base plate P (Fig. 1 and 3).
The uprights M carry a circumferential frame bar C composed of two U-bars and the wooden beam T in the height of the reaction chamber ceiling. On the inner U-bar of this frame bar C 'with its hollow side facing inwards is the circumferential one , partially protruding and a rounded upper edge having wooden beams T attached.
The walls of the reaction tower which laterally delimit the chamber space K consist of individual sheets of thermoplastic material, such as polyvinyl plastic or the like, called polyvinyl for short. The individual foils are tightly connected to one another by welding, so that they form a curtain-like jacket 1 that is closed at the side. The upper ends of the foils are freely suspended in the interior of the tower structure on the upper frame beam T and the U-iron of the bolt C (Fig. 3 and 5).
For this purpose, the jacket is guided over the upper rounded inner edge of the beams T and the U iron and attached to the outer U-slats of the frame bar C, for example by means of straps (not shown). Furthermore, the chamber jacket 1 is connected to the support frame in places by external, welded or soldered connection brackets 2 made of polyvinyl. The brackets 2 are guided around vertical flat iron 3, which are attached to the support frame by angle iron 4 (Fig. 2, 3 and 5).
For the purpose of creating a continuous lateral support for the freely hanging chamber jacket 1, the latter is surrounded by an adjacent cage-like framework which can extend over the entire height of the tower or over individual parts thereof.
In the illustrated embodiment, this lateral support cage consists of a number of lighter wooden columns 5, which are supported by surrounding bars 6, which have a T-shaped or L-shaped profile and form the transverse structure of the uprights M (FIGS. 1, 2 and 3). The vertical flat iron 3, to which the chamber jacket 1 is fastened laterally, are arranged at intervals between two columns 5 each, so that the permanent way of the fastening bracket 2 is made possible.
The ceiling 7 of the reaction chamber is also made of polyvinyl plastic and is suspended from the roof trusses S and S ', which are supported on the frame bar C and form a load-bearing roof structure, by external connecting brackets 8 made of polyvinyl, which are welded to it (FIG. 3 to 7). The edge of the chamber ceiling. 7 is bent down and tightly connected to the curtain-like chamber jacket 1 by welding or soldering (FIG. 5). Above this connection point, the chamber jacket 1 is connected to the ceiling 7 by a welded or soldered stiffening bar 9 made of polyvinyl with an L-shaped cross section.
The arranged at the bottom of the reaction chamber basin V for receiving the reac tion product is preferably made of lead or chemically resistant plastic and has an outer coating C made of polyvinyl. The chamber jacket 1 hanging freely into the Beeken V is tightly connected to the Beeken cover G by means of an expandable, for example bellows-like, connection part 1 ′ made of polyvinyl (FIG. 3).
The inlet tubes U, which introduce the sulfuric acid into the reaction chamber, are introduced into the chamber through corresponding holes in the ceiling 7 and are supported by pairs of crossbars 10 mounted on the binders S (FIGS. 3, 5 and 6). The inlet pipes U, their connection lines 11 and the supply lines A are made of polyvinyl. The feed lines A are supported on the ties S by pipe supports 12 made of polyvinyl or the like and are connected to the main feed line B by means of slides 13.
The closure between the inlet pipe II and the chamber ceiling 7 is made by a conical pipe 14 made of polyvinyl, which pipe 14 includes the inlet pipe 77, passes through the ceiling 7 and is tightly connected to it in accordance with the corresponding passage opening by welding or soldering is (Fig. 6). The upper end of the tube 14 has a flange 14 'on which the polyvinyl disk 15, which is penetrated by the inlet tube U and which is soldered or welded, is seated.
The disk 15 and the puddle 14 'are fastened by bolts 16 to a centrally perforated lower iron disk 17, the latter being seated on the pair of crossbars 10 such that the inlet pipe can pass freely through the crossbar 10.
The gas discharge tube D consists of a lead pipe 18, which sits on the transverse beam S 'and on the supporting beam 19 by means of a lower flange and is connected to the corresponding opening in the chamber ceiling 7 by the lower coaxial polyvinyl pipe 20 which is flanged on both sides (Fig. 4 and 7). The connection pipe 20 is tightly connected to the gas discharge tube 18 on the one hand by bolts 22 and with the interposition of the polyvinyl seal 23, while on the other hand it is soldered or welded to the chamber ceiling 7. The weld connection between the chamber ceiling 7 and the pipe 20 is reinforced by an outer welded profile element 21 made of polyvinyl.
For the purpose of better and finer distribution of the liquid flowing through the tower or injected into it, the reaction tower inside the chamber can be provided with suitable dividing means, such as Raschin rings, plates arranged one above the other or perforated plates made of polyvinyl or the like.
