Contact converter with inductive switching elements to relieve the contacts from switching lights. When commissioning contact converters, it is often necessary to start resistances in order to avoid compensating processes in the transformer and in any suction transformers or switching reactors that may be present to relieve the contacts from switching fire to such an extent that no switching fire occurs at the contacts. Depending on the circumstances, one can choose a different number of levels of occasion; in some cases it is sufficient to have a single stage. In general, ohmic resistors have heretofore been used as starting resistors because they are the most convenient.
Particularly when starting with counter voltage, the difficulty can arise that the starting current is not only not smoothed, but even at certain times when the counter voltage is greater than the voltage generated by the contact converter, the starting current becomes zero or even negative. The consequence of this is that any suction transformers or switching chokes that may be present are not properly magnetized on the starter stage, so that dangerous compensation processes can occur during the transition to full operation, which lead to short circuits.
According to the invention, this difficulty is eliminated in that the resistors in the starting circuit are selected to be ohmic-inductive, so that a type of starting current occurs and the necessary magnetization of the chokes is thereby ensured.
It is particularly effective to couple the starting inductances of the individual phases with one another so that the sum of the phase currents, which is equal to the direct current, must remain constant.
In this way, depending on the size of the inductance, a starting current is obtained that is smoothed as desired. If you want to avoid separate ohmic resistances in the starting circuit entirely, you can design the windings of the inductances with such a high resistance that this resistance alone limits the current sufficiently.
In the drawing, the invention is shown using an example. 1 is a primary switch that applies the AC voltage UP to a transformer 2. From the taps on this transformer, the voltage leads through two switching reactors. 3 and 4 to a secondary switch 5 and from there to the contact device 6. The contacts of the contact device are bridged by capacitors 7 and 8 resistors.
The switching chokes are pre-excited by windings 9 and 10, which are connected to one another via inductance 15. Starting resistors 11 and 12 are parallel to switch 5 and inductances 13 and 14 in series with them. These inductances are arranged on a common iron core in such a way that currents magnetize the iron core in the same way.
For example, a collector to be charged is connected to 16. The inductance 13, 14 is very low in its construction performance, since it only carries current during the starting process and may also have high winding resistance. It is more practical to provide the iron with a suitable air gap.
