Description

"Ball joint with pin without solid ball, especially for the steering linkage of motor vehicles. Up to now, the pin end ball joints were mostly manufactured on cutting machines, but this required a great deal of machining work because of the widely differing diameter of the pin Here, however, the ball head is not designed as a full sphere, but mostly only as a hemisphere.

However, this hemisphere has the disadvantage that a large amount of load-bearing contact surface is lost in the case of large angular movements of the joint. In order to avoid this disadvantage, according to the invention, the central angle of the spherical zone lying beyond the center plane of the spherical head is designed to be equal to the largest deflection angle of the joint. In this way, even with the greatest deflection, a sufficient contact surface of the ball head should be sufficient, but without the ball being designed as a solid ball. You can therefore still make the ball stud by pressing her.

In the drawing, an embodiment example of a ball joint according to the invention is shown, namely: Fig. 1 shows the joint in the central position of the Zap fens in section and Fig. 2 the same with the pin at the largest rash. The ball stud consists of the ball head 1, the neck 2, the shaft 3 and the threaded part 4. The ball head is inserted into the ball socket 5 and held in its position in a manner not shown.

The ball head 1 is now not designed as a full ball. On the other side of the central plane, however, it has such a large spherical zone that its central angle a1 corresponds to the largest deflection angle a2. As can be seen from FIG. 2, such a joint still retains a sufficient contact surface even with the greatest deflection, since the entire spherical zone corresponding to the central angle ai still remains in contact with the spherical socket 5.

Such a joint can also be used for greater forces without impairing the service life.
