Description
Ball studs, in particular for the steering linkage of motor vehicles od. The like. The invention relates to ball studs, in particular in steering linkages of motor vehicles. or the like. Use. The ball head of such ball joints has some play in the axial direction, which is elastically compensated for by a spring will. Here, the spring can either be directly on the ball head or on one this head pan-like supporting plate act. The known versions to have. the disadvantage that the joints have relatively large dimensions.
In order to avoid this disadvantage, it is proposed according to the invention, to arrange the suspension of such a ball joint in a split ball head, whose parts complement each other to form a full sphere. This achieves that for the Arrangement of the spring no special space is necessary, so that the overall height the joints can decrease considerably.
The spring can be accommodated in the ball head in a wide variety of ways will. So z. B. a conical or cylindrically wound compression spring between the ball stud and a hollow ball top are arranged. This takes effect z. B. the upper spherical part with a pin-like. Extension into a corresponding Recess of the ball stud. Of course, the reverse could also be a peg-like one Extension. the ball stud: be arranged by yourself.
An embodiment in which the hollow drawn one is particularly advantageous The upper part of the ball engages with a hollow pin in a hole in the ball pin, whereby the spring is inserted in the cavity of the spherical upper part around the hollow pin. Instead of a steel spring, you can also place between the ball stud and the ball upper part Attach a rubber buffer, this buffer between the dome-like spherical upper part and a spherical cap to be inserted into the ball stud is vulcanized.
In a further embodiment are between the ball stud and the hollow spherical upper part one or more disc springs attached. Also give this sufficient suspension.
Such an arrangement in the case of a ball stud has, in addition to the minor one Overall height still has the further great advantage that the ball studs are produced in a pressing process will. since a full ball is not required on the ball stud. the Production of such pins is therefore considerably simplified and cheaper.
In the drawing are in the. Fig. I to 6 different embodiments of ball studs according to the invention shown in view and partially in section.
The ball stud consists in the usual way of a conical middle part i, the lower threaded part 2 and a neck 3. In all six embodiments the lower ball part 4 is attached to the upper end of the pin. In the embodiment According to Fig. i, this lower spherical part receives a conical inner bore 5, in which a conically wound compression spring 6 is inserted. The spherical upper part 7 is with a pin-like extension 8, which engages in the interior of the spring 6. By the spring 6, the upper ball part 7 and. the lower part of the ball 4 pressed apart, whereby the necessary suspension in the joint to absorb shocks is achieved. Of course, a cylindrically wound one could also be used in this embodiment Spring 6 can be used. Which then in a cylindrical bore of the lower ball part , 4 is inserted. The peg-like extension 8 of the upper spherical part 7 would also be then made cylindrical.
Instead of attaching the peg-like extension to the upper spherical part 7, this extension 8 can also be attached to the lower ball part 4 according to FIG. 3, while the correspondingly designed upper spherical part 7 receives the bore 5.
According to Fig. 2, a hollow drawn spherical upper part 9 is used, which a hollow pin io for a corresponding bore i i of the lower ball part 4 is obtained. An arbitrarily wound spring 12 is then fitted into the cavity of the upper part of the ball.
Instead of such springs may be used for the suspension according to Figure 4 is also a rubber bumper 13, which is vulcanized between the dome-spherical upper part 14 and a ball to be inserted into the lower part 4 calotte 15 °. This increases the functioning of the rubber buffer as a spring body and increases its service life. Of course, the rubber buffer could also be vulcanized directly into the lower spherical part 4.
Fig. 5 shows the use of several disc springs 16, 17 and 18, which between. the hollow upper ball part i9 and the lower ball part 4 are inserted. The lower ball part 4 is given a short cylindrical extension 2o, which is used to guide the lower plate 1 6 . The upper, plate 1 8 is equipped with a neck 2i which engages in the opening of the spherical upper part. Since the middle plate 17 has a guide edge 22, the plate springs are held in their position. The disc springs could also be designed in another suitable manner; so, it is indicated in Fig. 6 that the lower and upper plates 16 and 18 are the same, simple plate springs 17 are arranged between these plates. It is essential for the invention that the suspension is attached within the ball head itself, so that the two ball parts are resiliently supported against one another.
