Description

Filter pad for tobacco smoke. Many filters are already known for tobacco smoke, which coat. the form of buffer placed at. one end of a ci garette or cigar, or on the passage of smoke in the duct of a pipe, a cigarette holder or a cigarette holder.

These filters are generally made of a fibrous material of organic origin (cotton wadding, paper, crepe paper). Sometimes they are in an inorganic material, <it does not take the fibrous form, but that of a spongy solid (porous terracotta cartridge) or of a granular mass (grains of coal).

It has been found that inorganic glass fibers, which can be extremely thin, retain them very effectively. harmful constituents of tobacco smoke (neither eotin, tar).

The present invention relates to a filter pad for tobacco smoke, consisting at least in part of a cunning fine material. This pad is characterized in that at least part of the fibers of this material are made of inorganic glass.

The fibrous material of the tampon may, for example, only consist of inorganic glass fibers. It can also be an intimate mixture of cellulose fibers and inorganic glass fibers. In the latter case, it will, for example, be obtained from a containing paste. as an intimate mixture of paper pulp and inorganic glass fibers. The proportion between cellulose fibers and glass fibers can. vary within wide limits.

It has been found that a tampon containing the two kinds of fibers: glass and cellulose, is more effective than a tampon comprising only cellulose fibers, as regards its capacity to retain the harmful constituents of tobacco smoke. .
