Device for spreading pest control products in the form of a mist.
The present invention relates to a device for spreading pest control products in the form of a mist for arboriculture. The devices of this type currently in use do not allow the projection of a fine mist of liquid pest control product which is pulverized at a height sufficient to treat relatively tall fruit trees from the ground.
According to the invention, the device comprises a source of suppressant product, a motor and, mounted in alignment on the same shaft, a suction and discharge device creating a current of air capable of forming and then of rapidly entrain a mist consisting of a mixture of air and antiparasitic product, which is projected by at least one lance mounted at the end of a flexible duct, the whole being arranged so that the mist can be projected at a height of at least 10 meters.
Naturally, such a device can be used in agriculture also in the case where it is not necessary to project the fog to the height of 10 m which, moreover, is not limiting.
Embodiments of the spreading device according to the invention will be described, by way of examples, with the aid of the appended drawing.

Fig. 9 shows in section the tank-hopper of the device according to FIG. 8.
Fig. 10 is a section taken substantially along the line X-X of FIG. 8.
The spreading device according to fig. 1 essentially comprises a reservoir 1 containing a liquid antiparasitic product and serving as a source of said product. This reservoir is placed high enough so that the liquid it contains can flow by gravity to the point where it is entrained by the air current created by a fan 6. The reservoir is connected by a duct 2, in which are interposed a filter 3 and a valve 4, the delivery duct 5 of a high pressure centrifugal fan 6. The duct 5 leads to one or more spray nozzles 7 provided with flexible supply ducts.
The centrifugal fan 6 is controlled by a motor 8 mounted in alignment with it on the same shaft.
Part of the air delivered by the centrifugal fan 6 is diverted at 9 from the fan casing and directed by a diffuser-10 on the motor 8 to ensure its cooling.
The exhaust of the engine 8 is connected by the ducts 11 and 11a to a perforated pipe 12 placed in the base of the tank 1, so that the suppressant liquid contained in this tank can be stirred by the exiting exhaust gases. holes in the pipe 12. These exhaust gases rise through this liquid to escape at the upper part of the tank, for example at 13, under its cover 14.
The stirring of the liquid product contained in the tank 1 can also be ensured by compressed air taken at 15 from the duct 5 and directed by a duct 16 connected to the pipe 11 towards the perforated pipe 12 placed in the base of the tank. . A tap 17 cuts off the conduit 16.
In addition, a four-way valve 18 allows, depending on the position of its key, either to communicate the conduits 11 and 11a to put the exhaust of the engine 8 in communication with the perforated pipe 12, or to interrupt this communication, to make the duct 11 communicate with the exhaust to the atmosphere 19 and to make the duct 16 communicate with the duct 11a in order to direct the compressed air taken at 15 into the perforated pipe 12.
It is obvious that instead of a four-way valve 18, several shutters could be provided which separately assume the various functions described.
The liquid antiparasitic product, preferably stirred in the tank 1, either by the engine exhaust gases or by compressed air coming out of the holes in the pipe 12, is carried through the pipe 2 and the filter 3, which stops large unwanted particles, to the discharge pipe 5 of the fan 6, into which it opens by gravity, preferably in the center of this pipe and near the outlet of the fan, so that it is attracted by the effect of The suction produced by the discharge air current from the fan and transformed into mist which is entrained under high pressure by this air current towards the lance or lances 7, projecting it onto the plants to be treated.
The height reached by this fog is, for example, about 20 m for an air current speed in the fan of 60 m / s.
In the variant of FIG. 2, a suction and pressure pump 20 sucks the liquid from the reservoir 1 (FIG. 1) and delivers it to the projection duct 5 (FIG. 1). In this case, it is not necessary for the tank to be higher than the level of the anti-interference liquid entering the projection duct 5.
The motor 22, mounted on the base 23 and provided with the fuel tank 24, is mounted in alignment on the same shaft between the pump 20 and the fan 21, of which it thus ensures the drive. The motor-pump-fan assembly is compact and takes up little space; it is preferably mounted on a set of wheels allowing its easy movement in the field. It can also be formed by a block that can be loaded onto a tractor or other agricultural vehicle. The use of the high pressure centrifugal fan constituted by a paddle wheel mounted in a casing of small width makes it possible to place this fan and its drive motor right against the tank 1, thus producing a compact unit.
This cen trifuge fan produces a current of air under very high pressure which makes it possible to project the mist of liquid or powdery pest control product to a height of at least 10 m.
It is thus possible to treat practically all fruit trees from the ground.
The projection of exhaust gas or compressed air into the tank to produce agitation can be continuous or intermittent.
The shutter 4, controlling the distribution of solution to the projection duct 5, is advantageously controlled by a pedal, which facilitates the maneuvers of the operator whose hands are occupied by the projection lance.
Fig. 3 shows in perspective a pump 53, a motor 52, a cen trifuge fan 54 mounted in alignment on the same shaft.
In fig. 4.80 denotes a lance which is mounted on a flexible pipe 81, preferably a rubber pipe, fixed to a support collar 82. Articulated links 83, 84, the joints of which can be locked using screws and of nuts, constitute a support toggle for the lance 80 on the collar 82.
This collar 82 is itself mounted on the end of a bent and rigid tube 85 serving as a pivot and through which arrives the air discharged by a fan 86 fixed to the frame 87 of a vehicle. The motor driving this fan is arranged in alignment on the same shaft, which is not shown.
88 designates levers integral with the locking nuts of the screws allowing the articulation of the knee lever 83,84.
A collar 89, fixed to the tube 85, carries the seat 90 on which the operator sits.
The liquid antiparasitic product arrives through the pipe 91, which passes around the diffuser 92, to end in the nozzle 93 passing through this diffuser and at the front part of which a deflector 93a is placed.
94 designates a lever for adjusting the section of the pipe 91. Two profiled plates, not shown, surround this pipe 91 and the end of the lever 94 forms two jaws which act on the plates when this lever is turned by bringing them to. more or less throttle the flexible pipe 91 to adjust its section. 95 is a lever which controls forks 96 acting on the rod of the defleeteur 93a to bring the latter closer to or away from the outlet of the nozzle 93.
This mounting of the lance 80 allows the operator seated on the seat 90 to orient this lance at will, then to adjust, using the lever 94, the passage section of the solution and, using the lever 95, the action of the deflector, ensuring particularly rational operation. This flexible assembly of the swaddle therefore makes it possible to direct the projection in the direction of the top of all fruit trees, the high pressure caused by the fan making it possible to reach the height of at least 10 m.
In fig. 5, 6 and 7,101 designates the conical outer body of a lance 101 similar to the lance 80.102 designates the inside cone into which the pipe 103 emerges bringing the liquid parasitic product and which is provided with the deflector mushroom 104. The inside cone 102 presents in 102a has a circular section and 102b a square section. The pipe 103 is fixed along the interior wall.
105 is the lever used to twist the flexible duct 103 to adjust its passage section. 106 designates the support of the lance.
Four flaps 107,108,109,110 are each articulated on two journals, such as 111 112, mounted in supports 113,114,115, 116 fixed in the cylindrical outer body 101a of the lance 101. These flaps have a rounded shape at their rear, as indicated in 117, and at their front part a trapezoidal shape 118. The flaps are slaved to each other by a toggle device. The flaps 108 and 110 are interconnected, as shown in FIG. 5, by two connecting rods 119,120 articulated by the axes 121,123 to legs 126,127 fixed in the longitudinal axis of these flaps.
At their other end, the rods 119,120 are articulated by the pins 122,124 to lugs 128,129 forming part of a cross comprising two other lugs 130,131 to which are hinged two other rods, only one of which, 132, is visible in FIG. 5.
These two other links are articulated to lugs fixed perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the flaps 107 and 109 in the same way as the lugs 126,127 provided on the flaps 108, 11Q,
One of the shutters 110 can be operated by hand by means of a lever 125 (FIG. 6). When it is pivoted around its journals, it drives, through the link 119, the cross 128,129,130,131 which makes a movement corresponding to the other links, such as 120, 132, so that the other three flaps 107,108,109 execute a movement corresponding to that of shutter 110.
Thus, by orienting the flap 110 manually using the lever 125, the other three flaps 107, 108, 109 are oriented at the same time, which makes it possible to adjust the section of the compressed air stream directed into the cone 102 by these flaps to produce the entrainment of the liquid solution leaving the pipe 103. The more the posterior ends 117 of these flaps are separated and the more compressed air passes through the cone 102, the compressed air which is not captured by the parts. posterior of these flaps passing around them and exiting between the body 101 and the cone 102.
In fig. 8 and 9,141 designates a cuvetremia in which the powdery antiparasitic product 142. A cover 143 covers this tank is placed and is fixed by means of side clips 144 to the walls of the tank. 145 is an air inlet nozzle. 146 is the centrifugal fan mounted in alignment on the same shaft as the motor, not shown.
A duct 147,148, connected to a pipe 149, placed at the top of the hopper, connects the latter to the casing of the centrifugal fan. Below the cover 143 is placed a double-walled shutter 150,151 leaving between the latter a channel 152.
Covers 153 are made in the lower wall 151 of this flap and covered by inclined parts 154. The flap 150, 151 is articulated on an axis 155 and is supported by gravity on the powder 142, so that as and when measurement of the consumption of the latter, this flap is lowered along the arrow /, for example, as indicated at 150a. At its rear, the wall 151 has a curved part 156 and the pipe 149 itself has a curved part 157. The curvatures of the parts 156 and 157 are concentric with the axis 155, so that when the shutter is lowered , part 156 follows the outer surface of part 157.
158 designates a duct connected to the casing of the motor by which the air heated by the latter is drawn in by the fan 146. This air, mixed with the air charged with powder arriving through the duct 147, 148 to the fan , is discharged through line 159 to the pipe leading to the lance.
A shutter 160, articulated on an axis 161 (FIG. 10), controls the outlet of the duct 148 on the fan and, consequently, regulates the quantity of powder sucked in and delivered by the latter. This shutter opens by gravity and is closed using a Bowden cable control 162 attacking a tail 163 fixed to the shutter 160.
The hopper is connected by a flange 164 (fig. 8 and 9) to the body of the spreading device, so that it can be assembled and disassembled easily. It does not eomporte any shaker or other device, so that its constitution is very simple. Despite this, the device for collecting powder by suctioning the air, entering through the nozzle 145 through the openings 153 of the shutter 151 which follows the powder by pivoting about its axis 155, allows regular distribution of the powder. which can, moreover, be adjusted using the shutter 160. The hopper-tank 141 has at the front a curved wall having as its center the pivot axis of the shutter 150,
151, that the latter covers the powder over its entire extent or over the same extent in all its positions.
