Orientable connecting element for tubular constructions for scaffolding, supports and similar constructions. The present invention relates to an orientable junction element for tubular constructions for scaffolding, supports and similar constructions, intended to connect two construction elements forming any angle between them.
The orientable junction element according to the invention is characterized in that it com takes two pairs of jaws with cylindrical seat of known type, including. each is designed to tighten and retain a tubular element, these two couples being connected to each other by an articulation whose axis is perpendicular to the axes of the two tubular elements to be assembled.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the element which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view of the orientable junction element in the position of parallel orientation.
Fig. 2 is a cross section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is an elevational view of the orientable junction element in the orthogonal position.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of FIG. 3. In these figures, A and Ai indicate two jaws with a cylindrical seat which constitute an orientable central block.
With these jaws come to collaborate in the known manner. respectively the counter-jaws B and B1 which, in the example shown, are of the hook type 2; a bolt 4 is provided with a T-shaped head 5, intended to be engaged in the semi-cylindrical side seat 6 of the jaws A and Ai.
The bolt 4 is housed in a recess 8 formed in said jaws and in an elongated slot 10 formed in the counter-jaws B and B1. This arrangement makes it possible to clamp the respective tubular element C, Ci between the jaw and the counterjaw using a single bolt 4.
Conversely, by unscrewing bolt 4, it is possible to move the counter jaw laterally - without however completely removing the nut - until the hook 2 is released from the corresponding support cross member presented by the jaw A, Ai and subsequently turning the same counter jaw around the axis of the head of the bolt 4 to allow the tubular element C. to be released.
The central articulation of the two pairs of jaws A, B, Ai, Bi is carried out using a journal 12 whose axis is normal to the longitudinal axis of the jaw A, said journal being housed in a hole corresponding 16 formed in said jaw A and protruding on the side opposite to the semi-cylindrical seat thereof, the two parts preferably being joined by welding. The outer end of the journal 12 is provided with a collar or peripheral edge limited to two diametrically opposed sectors 18 and 20 (FIG. 2).
These sectors are intended to cooperate with the peripheral edge 22 of a cylindrical element 24 of the Al jaw and connected thereto, for example by welding.
The peripheral edge 22 is also formed of two sectors, so as to provide two diametrically opposed free spaces 26 and 28, making it possible to engage the sectors 18 and 20 of the journal 12, under the peripheral retaining edge 22.
In the embodiment shown, the free spaces 26 and 28 of the peripheral edge 22 and the sectors 18 and 20 of the journal 12 are arranged so that the junction and separation of the two pairs of jaws is possible when the tubular elements C are orthogonal to each other (which can be seen in Figs. 3. and 4).
In this position, the articulation is effective around the journal 12, but it is not. not in the direction of the axis of said journal, which has the consequence that the orientable junction element is practically not usable for the orthogonal position (position for which, moreover, one generally employs rigid joints of the known type).
On the other hand, if the two tubular elements are rotated in such a way that they form between them an angle other than 90, the sectors 18 and 20 engage under the peripheral edge 22 and therefore ensure the axial junction. of the articulation (the junction in the radial direction always being ensured by the journal 12 which cooperates with the front cylindrical surface of the edge 22 itself).
In fact, the articulation between the two parts is constituted by a bayonet joint, one part of which is integral with the jaw A, while the other is formed in the jaw A1.
In order to adapt the junction element to tubular elements of different sizes, the cylindrical seat of each pair of jaws is made in a series of different diameters.
