In the drawing, 2 designates the general housing of an apparatus for the magnetic recording of sound. A table or support plate 3, arranged in the housing and mounted on uprights 4, divides the entire housing into an upper compartment and a lower compartment. The housing has a cover divided into an anterior section 5 and a posterior section 6. The posterior section 6 is hinged to the rear of the housing at 7, for easy access to. a removable assembly or cartridge, designated by the general reference 8.
The front of the case is provided with a grid 9 behind which is mounted a loudspeaker 10 connected to the electrical recording equipment, which is generally designated by the reference 11, contained in the lower compartment. The detail of the electrical equipment of the recorder has not been shown for greater clarity, since it does not form part of the present invention.
A recessed board or panel 12 is disposed in the front of box 2 above speaker 10. The board carries a tone changeover and control knob 13, a volume control knob 1.4 and jacks. input 15 and output 16 intended respectively for the connection of a microphone and a headset. The posterior surface, inclined towards the rear, of the table 12 is pierced with a vertical slot 17 communicating with a horizontal slot 18 on the one hand and on the other hand with three horizontal slots, an upper 19, an intermediate 20 and one lower 21.
A control lever 22 passes through the vertical slot 17 of the inclined wall of the switchboard and can be introduced at will into any of the four horizontal slots. The role of this lever will be described in detail below. A roll-up protective curtain 23 movable in guides 24 closes the control panel outside periods of use.
A conventional motor 30 is suspended from a plate 31 and placed in the lower compartment (fig. 3, 4, 5, 6). The motor shaft 30 passes through an opening in the plate 31 suspended from the table 3 by suspension elements 31a. A drive wheel 32 of small diameter is wedged on the motor shaft above the plate 31. A friction wheel 33 is mounted idle at 34 on a tensioning arm 35 in a well-known manner, the arm 35. capable of rotating on a rod 36 carried by the plate 31.
A spring 37 fixed at 38 to the plate 31 is fixed on the other hand to the tensioning arm 35 to bring the friction wheel against the drive wheel 32 and against a second drive wheel 39 to rotate, the latter in the clockwise around an axis 40 carried by the platter 31. The drag wheel 39 has dimensions and a sufficiently large mass to damp vibrations which would otherwise tend to distort the recordings.
A driving pulley 45 is integral in rotation with the driving wheel 39 by a collar 46, and also rotates around the axis 40. The driving wheel 39 is placed under an opening 47 made in the table 3 and the pulley 45 is placed above this table, the opening 471 being large enough to allow the passage of the pulley. Pulley 45 has a collar 50 which protrudes at its upper part, as seen at 51, to receive a friction pad 52 (see Figs. 6 and 14).
Reference will now be made more particularly to FIGS. 4, 6 and 14. A capstan or winch: 53 carrying at its lower part a clutch plate 54 is mounted idle on the shaft 40, the lower face of the plate being in contact with the friction pad 52. A member of The clutch 55, roughly in the shape of a crescent, is articulated at 56 to rotate eccentrically about a point near one of its ends, on the underside of the clutch plate 54, so that, the the winch being in place, the clutch member is disposed around the collar 50.
The clutch member 55 is provided with an internal projection 57 which normally engages in a notch 58 formed in the lateral edge of the collar 50 in order to secure in rotation the winch of the pulley 45 and of the drive wheel. 39 united with it. A spring 59, anchored by one of its ends 60 to the underside of the clutch plate 54 and by its other end to the free end of the clutch member 55 which is furthest from the pin 56, as indicated at 61, tends to rotate the clutch member about the pin 56 to engage the projection 57 in the notch 58. The free end of the clutch member 55 carries a finger 62 which normally protrudes beyond the outer periphery of the clutch plate. 54.
The clutch plate is notched at 63 at a point on mounting finger 62 when the clutch member occupies its normal clutch engagement position, so that finger 62 normally obstructs the entry of the clutch. 'notch 63.
An L-shaped part 65 is articulated at 66 on one of the sides of a magnet 67 fixed to the table 3 by screws 68. An arm 69 of the part 65 is arranged opposite the magnetic head. , and its other arm 70, carrying a pawl 71 directed inwardly, is mounted so that this pawl engages in the notch 63 of the clutch plate 54 of the winch. A spring 72, anchored on the one hand to the table 3, and also fixed to the part 65, returns the latter to its rest position by causing it to rotate about its axis 66, so as to move the part away. arm 69 of the magnetic head and releasing the pawl 71, carried by the other arm 70, from the notch 63 of the clutch plate.
A stop 73 mounted on the table 3 limits the rotation of the part 65 under the action of the spring 72.
To make it possible to stop the rotation of the winch without interrupting that of the pulley 45 transmitting the driving force of the motor, the electromagnet is energized, which causes the rotation of the part 65 around its axis against the action of the spring. return 72. "In this way, the pawl 71 is brought to bear against the edge of the clutch plate 54, until it meets the finger 62, after which it rotates the clutch member. 55 around its eccentric axis 56 against the resistance of the spring 59, to disengage the projection 57 from the notch 58 made in the collar 50, bringing it to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 14.
Thanks to the eccentric arrangement of the clutch member 55, the finger 62 gradually moves back under the clutch plate 54 as the part 55 rotates under the action of the pawl 71, until the projection 62 comes to bear against a thrust pin 74 at the undersurface of the clutch plate 54. The thrust pin 74 is disposed so as to allow the clutch member 55 to rotate to the point where the finger 62 n 'no longer obstructs the entry of notch 63 of the clutch plate. The pawl thus has the possibility of engaging in the notch 63, maintaining the clutch plate in its position shown in dotted lines; to prevent any further rotation of the winch relative to the pulley 45.
When we want to start the winch, we de-energize the electromagnet to free the arm 69 of the part 65 which rotates to occupy its rest position under the action of its return spring 72. This movement removes the pawl 71 of the notch 63 and moves it away from the finger 62 of the clutch member 55. The res out 59 then causes the clutch member 55 to rotate about its axis 56, causing the projection 57 to its locking position in the notch 58 of the rotary collar 50.
The drive mechanism half by the motor actuates two turntables 80 and 81 (fig. 4 and 7) by means of a friction drive wheel 82 integral in rotation, around a common axis, with a pulley 83 connected by a suitable transmission belt 84 to the driving pulley 45. The turntable 80 is mounted on a drum 85 which it is fixed in rotation. A centering axis 86 carried by the table 3 serves as a common axis for the drum 85 and the turntable 80.
The free end of pin 86 protrudes beyond the top surface of turntable 80 to provide centering of a spool of magnetic tape. A leaf spring 88 is attached to the inner surface of the upper side of the turntable 80 and carries a locking pin 89 passing through a hole in the turntable to lock the coil mounted on the turntable 80. The turntable turntable 81 is freely mounted on a centering pin 90 carried by the table 3, the free end of the pin 90 going beyond the upper surface of the turntable to ensure the centering of a second reel for the tape. A drum 91 is mounted idle on the axis 90 under the turntable 81.
The drum 91 carries a friction lining 92 on which rests, rubbing under a light pressure, the turntable 81. The latter is integral, in rotation, with the drum 91 as long as other frictional forces do not occur. not oppose slight friction drive existing between the lining 92 and the turntable. A leaf spring 93 is fixed to the inside face of the upper side of the plate 81 and is provided with a locking pin 94 which passes through a hole made in the plate to block a spool mounted on the plate 81.
A plate 95 disposed around the hub 91a of the disc 91 (see FIGS. 3 and 7) is normally supported by a shoulder 91b of the hub. An arm 96 of a lever 97 articulated at 98 on the table 3 is disposed under the plate 95, such that the actuation of the other arm, 99, causes the rise 'and the descent of the plate 95 under it. action of arm 96. As shown in Figs. 7 and 8, the drum 91 is pierced with three holes 100 placed on three different radii which cross complementary pins 101 provided on the upper face of the plate 95 when the latter is raised, thus securing the plate in rotation. and the drum.
The lower face of the turntable 81 carries a pin 102, directed downwards, and which is placed in the path of the rotation of the pins 101 when the plate 95 occupies its high position. The closest stud 101 comes to bear against the stud 102 to fasten the turntable desmodromically with the drum.
Figs. 4 and 7 illustrate the mounting of the drive wheel 82 with friction and the pulley 83 on a common axis 105 carried by the in, 106, of the arms of an elbow lever 107 articulated on an axis 108 carried by the table. 3. As shown more clearly in Figs. 9, 10 and 11, the other arm 109 of the lever, perpendicular to the arm 106, carries a pin 110 directed upwards, which passes through an elongated slot 111 made transversely in a rod 112 serving to control the lever, placed on the lever arm 109 and articulated by one of its ends on the axis 108. The arm 112 carries at its other end a finger 113 serving to drive it in rotation.
Two leaf springs 115 are mounted on a support 1.16 carried by the control rod 112. The leaves 115 extend laterally from the support 116 and their free ends passing on either side of the stud 110. During the rotation, the friction drive wheel 82 is willingly brought against either of the drums 85s or 97s by rotating the control rod 112. When rotating the same. -Here in one direction or the other, around its axis 108, one of the blades 115 comes to bear .contre the stud 110 to drive the lever 107 in the same direction around the same axis 108.
The slot 111 and the leaf springs 115 provide the movements of the lever 107 with elasticity which provides a damping effect when contact is established between the driving wheel 82 and one of the drums 85 or 91. The rotation of the clockwise arm 112 brings the friction drive wheel 82 into contact with the drum 91, and rotates this drum counterclockwise. Likewise; the rotation of the arm 112 in the counterclockwise direction brings the friction wheel into contact with the drum 85 and imparts thereto a counterclockwise rotation.
Figs. 4 and 9 show a braking mechanism for the turntables 80 and 81. A transverse bar 120 pierced with mortises 121 is mounted on tenons 122 which pass through these mortises to allow a lateral translational movement of the bar. Rollers 123 and 124. are mounted idle on the bar 120, near one of its lateral edges, and cooperate respectively with cam levers 125 and 126. The levers 125 and 126 are articulated on the table 3 respectively in 127 and 128. A flexible brake arm 129 is fixed by one of its ends to the articulated end of the cam lever 125 and extends in juxtaposition with the latter, its free end curving away from that of the lever.
A brake shoe 130 mounted at the free end of the braking arm 129 can bear against the turntable 80. A spring 131 fixed, on the one hand, to the table 3 and, on the other hand, to the lever. with cam 125, recalls the latter against the roller 123. The lever 125 carries a projecting cam 125a having a flattened intermediate part terminated by two oblique ramps. Likewise, a second flexible brake arm 132 is attached at one end to the hinged end of cam lever 126 and extends contiguously therewith, its free end curving away from it. of the lever. A brake shoe 133 mounted on the free end of the arm 132 can bear against the turntable 81.
A spring 134 anchored to the table 3 and to the cam lever 126 recalls the latter against the roller 124. The lever 126 carries a protruding cam 126a having a flattened intermediate part flanked by two oblique ramps. The bar 120 is pierced with a groove 135 forming a cam, in which the finger 113 of the arm 112 is guided to ensure the rotation of the lever 107 of the friction drive wheel when the bar 120 is moved.
When the friction drive wheel is in its neutral position, the rollers 123 and 124 bear against the flattened intermediate portions of the cams 125a and 126a respectively, causing the brake shoes 130 and 133 to fully clamp against the drums 85 and 91. respective turntables. To turn the turntable. 81, the bar 120 is pushed to the left, as shown in FIG. 9.
The part of the cam groove 135 which is shifted to the right forces the finger 113 to rotate the arm 112, which in turn rotates the lever 107 clockwise, causing the friction roller. 82 in elastic contact with the drum 91 of the turntable and driving the latter in the counterclockwise direction. During the start of the translational movement, the roller 124 ash along the inner ramp of the cam 126a, gradually releasing the braking pressure exerted on the turntable 81.
At the same time, the roller 123 traverses the flattened region of the cam 125a, maintaining the braking on the turntable 80. As the brake is released on the turntable 81, the friction wheel 82 increases its pressure against the drum 91. As the pressure of the contact between the friction wheel 82 and the drum 91 increases, the roller 123 descends along the outer ramp of the cam 125a, thus releasing the braking on the plate 80. The bar 120 is moved. in the opposite direction to its central position, forcing the finger 113 to travel, in the opposite direction, the offset part to the right of the cam groove 135.
Finger 113 rotates lever 107 counterclockwise, returning the friction wheel to its neutral position. At the start of the movement in the opposite direction, a slight braking is first exerted on the plate 80 by the roller 123 rising along the outer ramp of the cam 125a, before the contact is broken between the friction wheel 82 and the turntable 81.
As the contact pressure of wheel 82 on drum 91 decreases, roller 124 rises along the inner ramp of cam 126a to apply increasing brake pressure against plate 81.
It is the reverse process which takes place for the rotation of the turntable 80. The bar 120 is moved to the right, obliging the finger 113 to rotate the arm 112 by means of the part offset to the left of the cam 135. The arm 112 rotates the lever 107 counterclockwise, bringing the friction wheel 82 into elastic contact with the drum 85 of the turntable, causing the latter to turn counterclockwise. of clockwise.
The brake pressure is released first from the turntable 80, then from the platen 81, as the contact pressure between the wheel 82 and the drum 95 becomes stronger and stronger. The return of the friction wheel 82 to its neutral position is ensured by a displacement of the bar 120 in the opposite direction to its central position, by means of the arm 112 actuated by the finger'113 traversing the cam groove. 135. During this operation, the braking pressure is applied first to the turntable 81, then to the plate 80.
The bar 120 is moved laterally with the aid of the lever arm 22, through the intermediary of a connecting element 141. This latter is articulated at 142 on the bar 120 and it is placed flat on the bottom. of the neighboring end of the lever arm 22 having in this part a section in the form of an iin 'U. The free end of the connecting element 141 is articulated with the lever arm 22 by means of a horizontal axis 143 and this element pivots about a vertical axis 140 disposed between the axis 143 and the joint 142.
As a result of this connection, the lateral movements of the lever arm 22 when it is displaced in the slots 18, 19, 20 and 21 take place around the axis 140 and are transmitted by the connecting element 141 to the bar. 120. As for the vertical movements of the lever arm 22 during its movements in the slot 17, they are not transmitted to the connecting element 141 and, consequently, to the bar 22, due to the horizontal articulation between said lever arm 22 and this connecting element 141. The end 22a of the arm 22 surmounts the free end of the arm 99 of the lever 97.
When the arm 22 is raised in the vertical slot 17, it lowers the arm 99, lifting the plate 95 through the arm 96, so that the pins 101 engage the holes 102 of the drum 91. A cover 144 covers the brake and friction wheel mechanisms and is pierced with openings 144a and 144b through which the turntables 80 and 81 pass.
The cartridge 8 is removably mounted above the turntables 80 and 81. The cartridge 8 is housed in a housing 145 provided with a cover 146 hinged at 147 on this housing. Two reels of tape 148 and 149 are arranged in the case, above the openings 150 and 151 made in the bottom of the cases. The coils 148 and 149 are retained in position by retaining walls 152 and 153 or any other suitable means disposed around the outer periphery of the coils, so that when the assembly which constitutes the cartridge is mounted above the trays rotating, the central openings 154 and 155 of the coils engage on the axes 86 and 90 of the turntables 80 and 81.
The coils 148 and 149 bear against the plates 80 and 81 which protrude through the openings 150 and. 151 made in the bottom of the housing 145 when the housing has been placed on the cover 144. The locking pins 89, 94 of the turntables engage in one of the holes 15f> 'and 157 respectively distributed angularly around these coils.
A recording tape 160, originally wound around the reel 148, is passed around a pulley 165 mounted on a vertical axis 166 carried by the housing 145, in front of two uprights 167 and 168, provided with a gasket elastic and spaced apart from each other, then around a pressure pulley 169, the free end of the tape then being fixed to the spool 149. The post 167 is mounted directly on the housing 145 and it is placed in face of an eraser head 170, the tape passing between it and the head. The eraser head 170 is mounted on an arm 171 (fig. 4, 5, 13) in order to be able to oscillate about a horizontal axis 172 carried by the table 3.
The erasing head 170 has been shown tilted in a position away from the tape, in its rest position. A spring 173 anchored, on the one hand, to a plate 174 carried by the table 3 and, on the other hand, to the arm 171, returns the erasing head to its vertical position, shown in dotted lines in FIG. 13. In its vertical position, the eraser head bears against the tape 160, pressing it against the upright 167.
The eraser head is tilted against the antagonistic action of the spring 173 by a rod 175 freely connected by one end to the arm 171 and by the other to an arm of an elbow lever 176 swiveling on a vertical axis 171 </ B> that the table 3 carries: A listening inver seur 178 is connected to the lower end of the axis 177 and it is actuated by the rotation of the arm of the angled lever 176 when the eraser head is separated from the tape. The other arm of the bent lever 176 is connected to a second rod 179 in which a slot 180 is formed. A support rod 181 carried by the table 3 passes through the slot 180 to guide the rod 179 in its lateral translation movements.
A # 182 pin carried by the free end of the rod 179 can engage in a complementary opening 183 seen in the arm 22. The arrangement of the rods 175 and 179 and of the arm of the crank lever 176 is such that when the eraser head has been placed in its rest position, it retains this position despite the chi spring bias 173 which tends to return the head to its vertical working position.
As the rod 179 is moved to the right by the counterclockwise rotation of the lever arm 22, the lever arm 176 rotates and relieves the locking pressure that was exerted on the rod. end next to the; rod 175, so that the return spring 173 causes the eraser head 170 to tilt around its axis 172, placing it in its active Lion polish.
The resiliently lined upright 168 is mounted on an arm 1.85, at an intermediate point thereof. The arm 185 is articulated at one end on a vertical axis 186 carried at the base of the housing 145. A recording head 187 is mounted by suitable means on a support bracket 188 fixed to the table. 3. The recording head is located opposite the upright 168 with the magnetic tape * threaded between the head and the upright. A leaf spring 189, fixed by one end 190 to the housing 145, bears against the upright to apply the band against the recording head.
This carries a projection 191_ on the upper edge of the tape, to ensure that the sensitive surface of the tape is positioned directly opposite the recording head.
The pressure pulley 169 is mounted in front of the winch 53, the tape passing between the two, and it is journaled on a vertical axis 195 which a lever arm 196 carries at an intermediate point between one end and the articulation axis 197 of this lever, the axis being mounted on the base of the housing 145: The end of the lever arm 196 beyond the pulley 169 engages against the free end of the arm 185 carrying the upright, to rotate the arm 185 against the antagonistic action of the leaf spring 189, so as to separate, when the device is not recording, the amount 168 of the strip against which it was pressing.
A spring 198 attached; on the one hand, to the housing 145 and, on the other hand, at the end of the lever arm 196, beyond the pulley, urges said arm in the direction of clockwise around its axis 197, to move the pulley 169 away from the winch 53 and rotate the arm 185 against the bias of its return spring 189. A finger 199 projecting from one end of the lever 196 and the free end of which is bent upwards, pulls the tape away from the recording head as the lever arm 196 rotates under the action of the spring 198. A stopper 200 mounted on the housing 145 limits the rotation of the lever arm.
The other end of the lever arm 196 is provided with a flexible part 201 fixed at 202 and of which. the free end goes beyond the end of the lever arm. A stud 203 mounted on the lever arm 22 bears against the projecting end of the part 201 to drag the lever arm 196 therefrom clockwise around its axis 197 to bring the pressure pulley 169 in contact with the winch 53. This movement allows the post 168 to transmit its pressure. tape against the recording head.
The pin 203 is fixed (fig. 12) to the lever arm 22 in order to be able to move up and down through an opening made in the extension 141 of the lever arm and in a guide member 204 mounted on the extension 141, for ensure at all times the vertical position of the stud 203.
When the outer end of the lever arm 22 is in its mid or low position in the lumen 17 of the control panel 12, the stud 203 protrudes above the upper surface of the part 204, and the rotation of the Counterclockwise lever arm 22 causes the protruding end of the pin 203 to bear against the flexible protrusion 201 of the lever arm 196 to drive the latter in rotation.
When the lever arm 22 is lifted above its intermediate position on the control board 12, the stud 203 falls below the surface of the part 204 and is no longer in contact with the flexible projection 201 of the control panel. lever arm 196. A weak spring 205 disposed around the stud 203, between the lever arm 22 and its extension 141, normally retains the free end of the arm * 22 in a neutral position in the vertical light 17 opposite the horizontal slit on the right. The arm 22 must be raised in the slot 17 to enter the horizontal slot 19, or lowered against the spring 205 to enter the slot 21.
To operate the magnetic recorder, the switch is actuated by means of button 14 to energize motor 30 which drives winch 53 and friction wheel 82 for driving the turntables clockwise. a watch. When it is desired to produce a recording on the tape, the lever arm 22 is lowered in the lumen 17 below its neutral position, and an angular displacement is imparted to it in a counterclockwise direction for the 'bring to its position. recording, in the lower right slot 21.
The bar 720 is moved to the left to rotate the friction wheel lever mechanism counterclockwise, which brings the friction wheel 82 into elastic contact with the drum 91 of the turntable. thus causing it to feel contrary to that of the needles. The movement of the bar on the other hand releases the brake 133 of the plate 81 then the brake 130 of the plate 80. In this way, any slack that may exist between the coils 148 and 149 is absorbed.
At the same time, the stud 203 pressing against the flexible projection 201 rotates the lever arm 196 in a clockwise direction, bringing. the pressure pulley 169 to be carried against the rotating winch 53, the tape being. clamped between the pulley and the winch, and allowing the post 168 to press the tape against the magnetic head 187. When the arm 22 is lowered, the stud 182 of the rod. actuation 179 of the erasing head engages in a hole made for it in the arm.
Rotation of arm 22 to enter slot 21 causes rod 179 to rotate crank arm 'j76 counterclockwise, which in turn releases the locking pressure which s 'exerted on the rod 175 and allows the eraser head 170 to come and take its vertical operating position, resting against the tape. In the recording position, the erasing head and the recording head are both energized.
Although the friction wheel 82 normally tends to drive the drum 91 at a relatively high angular speed, the tape from the reel 148 advances between the winch 53 and the pressure pulley 169 under the effect of the rotation of the winch. at a constant and slow linear speed, adjusted according to the recording made on the tape. The light frictional contact between platen 81 and drum 91 allows for relative sliding, so that the tape only winds onto spool 149 as it advances through the winch and the web. pressure pulley.
If it is desired to interrupt the recording without stopping the rest of the mechanism, it suffices to de-energize the electromagnet 67 by any suitable external means, such as a push-button, to cause the lever 65 to swing. This engages against the clutch plate 54 of the winch and disengages the clutch of the winch from the drive wheel 39 turn nant under the action of the motor, in the manner already described. When the electromagnet has been de-energized, the lever disengages from the clutch plate 54, allowing the clutch to be engaged with the mechanism put on by the motor to rotate integrally therewith, in the manner already described, and the The ribbon advance resumes.
To reverse or rewind the tape, the lever arm 22 is first placed in its ne-Liter position, which de-energizes the eraser head and the magnetic head, and the first is placed in its inactive position by rotating the arm. crank 176 counterclockwise. At the same time, the driving wheel 82 and the lever arm 196 turn to come to occupy their neutral position, and the brakes are applied, first on the plate 80 then on the plate 81, to absorb the slack of the wheel. tape between the spools.
We then push the lever arm 22 to the left in the slot 18. which moves the bar 120 to the right, causing the drive wheel lever mechanism to turn counterclockwise, and loosens the brakes, first on the plate 80 then on the plate 81. As there is a positive connection between the drum 85 and the turntable 80, the tape is rewound around the spool 148 at a high speed. It will be noted that during this operation, the finger 199 of the lever arm 196 retains the tape. a certain distance between the magnetic head and the winch 53.
When it is desired to reproduce the recording of the tape, the lever arm 22 is pushed in an anti-clockwise direction in the intermediate right-hand slot 20. The mechanism operates in the same way as for the. recording, except that the magnetic head is arranged to reproduce the recording and the erasing head is kept in its inactive position. Sometimes it is interesting to go from one part of the tape recording to another without having to play back the middle part.
This can be achieved by placing the lever arm 22 in its neutral position and then lifting it into the vertical lumen 17 until it does. is possible to im primer a rotation in the opposite direction of that of the needles, in the. upper right slot 19. In this way, the bar 120 performs the same functions as during recording, but the stud 203 ,, being now fallen below the level of the part 204, no longer actuates the lever arm 196, so that the tape is kept away from the magnetic head and the winch. Likewise, the eraser head is maintained in its non-operating position.
The lifting of the lever arm 22 lowers the arm 99 of the lever 97, raising the plate 95 through the arm 96. The studs 101 enter the openings 100 of the drum 91, and cooperate with the stud 102 of the turntable 81 to positively communicate to it a high rotational speed. When the desired point in the playback of the recording has been reached, the lever 22 is returned to neutral and then to the playback position. The advance of the tape from the reel 148 to the reel 149 is measured on a disc 210 disposed below the cover 146 of the housing 145, to rotate about an axis 211 which this cover carries.
One full turn of the disc 210 corresponds to the length of the ru ban, and graduations are marked on the upper surface of the disc so that they can be seen through an opening 212 in the cover 146 of the housing as well as through an opening. second opening 213 in the cover 6 of the general housing of the device. The advance of the tape is measured by means of a pressure wheel 215 mounted on an axis 216 carried by a support plate 217.
The pressure wheel 215, bearing against the tape as it passes around the pulley 165, is driven and itself drags by means of a reduction gear train 218, a second wheel pressure 219 mounted on a shaft 220 carried by the plate 217. The pressure wheel 219 bears against the peripheral edge of the disc 210 to drive the latter. The plate 217 is articulated on the free end of an arm 221 by a pin 222 which comprises a support element 223-moving in an elongated light 224 of the table 3. The other end of the arm 221 is rotatably mounted on the table 3 by means of a pin 225.
A pin 226 of the arm 221 crosses from bottom to top an elongated slot 227 formed in the plate 217 to allow the rotation of the latter relative to the arm 221. A spring 228, anchored to the table 3 by one of its ends and the arm 221 by the other, urges the arm 221 in rotation in a direction such that the two wheels 215 and 219 are constantly pressed with a certain pressure against the tape on the pulley 165 and the measuring disc 210 respectively.
