Apparatus for magnetic sound recording. The present invention relates to an apparatus for the magnetic recording of sound, characterized in that it comprises two trays intended to carry reels containing a magnetic tape and adapted to </ B> rotate around two distinct axes as well as a motor disc disposed between these plates and adapted to rotate around an axis parallel to the axes of the plates, said disc being capable of being moved in two opposite directions to enter into selective contact with one and the other of the two plates while maintaining the parallelism of the axes.
A by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus for magnetic sound recording has been described below and shown in the accompanying drawing, conforming to invention.
Fig. 1 is a front elevation.
Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof, part of the cover being cut away.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of a part (the mechanism of the device, provided with a backing plate and the magnetic tape, some of the parts supposedly removed.

Fig. 6 is a larger-scale section along line 6-6 of fig. 1.
Fig. 7 is a fragmentary plan view of the brake mechanism of the chainrings. In the drawing, 10 represents a box containing the electrical parts of an apparatus for magnetic recording. Given that the details of the electrical components of this device do not fall within the scope of the invention, they have not been shown in order not to overload the drawing.
The apparatus includes a switch 12 allowing it to be turned on and off, an opening 13 for a loudspeaker, a socket 14 for connecting a microphone, an inverter 15 to connect the listening to the loudspeaker- or to using headphones that Pon can possibly use, a 16 switch with a recording position and a listening position, finally a button for controlling the sound intensity, called the volume control 17. button
A magnetic tape or tape 20 passes from the reel 21 to the reel 22; when it is in place, this strip passes over a guide pulley 23, in front of a device suitable to erase the magnetic recording, for example the sharpening magnet 24, a member or magnetic head 25 arranged in a shielding 26, and a winch 27. The reverser 16 being placed in its recording position, the device. erase is placed in the working position.
If the device suitable for erasing the recording consists of an erasing magnet, this is applied against the tape, and when the inverter is put in listening position, the erasing device becomes inoperative where the magnet is far away. Of the band. The connection between the inverter and the erasing device can be made in any desired manner. A pad 30 removably rests the strip against the magnetic head 25 and a rotating drive pulley 31 removably applies the strip against the winch < B> 27.
The latter is mounted on the upper end-Read of an axis 35 driven by a motor 36 housed in the housing 10, via a steering wheel 37 mounted on the axle. This motor is energized when switch 12 is closed. The plates 38 and 39, provided with centering grooves 40 and 41, are mounted on disks 42 and 43 respectively. The plate 38 is fixed to the disc 42, while the upper surface of the disc 43 has a friction lining 44 on which the plate 39 rests. < / B> It will be noted that the disc 43 has a notably larger diameter than the disc 42.
The coils 21 and 22 can be correctly positioned on the 38 and 39 plates thanks to the centering pins of the latter.
A lever 45 in the form of a plate journals on an axis 46 (FIG. 4) carried by a support plate 47 and it extends beyond each side of the latter. One end of the lever plate 45 is located between the two plates.
The lever plate is pierced with a hole 48 (fig. 4) through which the shaft 35. A vertical axis 49 is carried by the plate 45, at a point located between the two turntables , and it carries an idle pulley 50 as well as a drive disc 51, this, disc being integral in rotation with the pulley and presenting to </ B> its periphery a friction surface 52. Another pulley 53 is wedged on the shaft 35, above the plate- 1 lever 45, and it is connected to the pulley 50 by a suitable belt 54.
Thus, when the winch turns, the drive disc 51 is also rotated by means of the pulleys 50 and 53 and belt 54.
The drive disc 51 is provided in such a position on the lever plate 45, that when the latter tilts, the disc moves to engage with either of the discs 42, 43. The drive disc, when it is engaged with one or the other of the discs, drives them by friction, as well as their respective turntables. The 38 turntable is thus driven desmodromically, while the turntable 39 is driven thanks to the friction surface 44 of his disc. Due to the different diameters of the two disks 42 and 43, the 38 plate is driven at a significantly higher angular velocity than the 39 plate. </ B>
Fig. 7 represents a braking device provided for the discs 42 and 43 and their turntables. A stud 58 (fig. 3, 4 and 7) protrudes at the upper part of the plate- lever 45 near the drive disc 51. Bars 59 and 60, articulated in 61 and 62 near the discs ù and 43 overlap at their inner ends, and each bar has a notch 63, presenting, at its opposite ends , bevelled surfaces 64 and 65. These notches are superimposed and the stud 58 is located in the hollow part that they determine,
to approximately to halfway between the bevelled sides. Springs 66 and 67, anchored to the outer ends of the bars, remind them in contact with the stud 58.
Arms 68 and 69 are connected to bars 59 and 60, at the points of articulation of the latter , and these arms carry at their free ends brake shoes 70 and 71 resting normally against the discs 42 and 43. The springs 66 and 67 keep the shoes in their normal braking position.
When the lever plate 45 and its stud 58 are in their normal position, the brake shoes 70 and 71 are pressed against the discs 42 and 43, immobilizing them strongly. When the lever plate rotates in either direction, its pin cooperates with either bevels 64 or 65 to tilt the bars 59 </ B > and 60 against the tension of the springs 66 and 67. The arms 68 </ B > and 69 therefore switch and move the shoes 70 and 71 away from the corresponding disks.
A control lever 76 is articulated by one of its inner ends 77 on one side of the lever plate 45 to which it is substantially parallel . This control lever extends towards an opening 78 made in the front wall of the housing 10. A connecting rod 79 extends from a point set back from the end 76 ' of the control lever 76, until in the vicinity of an axis 80' carried by the lever 45, said link. 79 being connected to this axis by a spring 80. Lateral movement of the control lever causes the lever plate laterally.
The pulley 31 (see fig. 2) is mounted loose on the axis 31 ' carried by one of the ends of the Lin arm 82 </ B > rotated to 83 (fig. 3), this pulley being normally returned to the winch by a spring 84 acting on the other end of the arm 82. < / B> A finger 85 projects outwards from the control lever, at its point of articulation, and it bears against a stud 86 provided at the adjacent end of the arm 82. When moving the control lever to the left in fig. 3, the finger 85 allows the spring 84 to tilt the arm 82 and bring the pulley closer 31 </ B > the winch.
As the magnetic tape 20 is interposed between these two -elements, the pulley applies it against the winch. When the control lever returns to its normal position or is moved in the opposite direction, the pulley moves away from the winch under the action of the 85 finger bearing against, the stud 86. The pulley moves away from the winch a sufficient distance so that the magnetic tape can be released from the magnetic head.
The buffer 30 is mounted on the end of an arm 89 articulated in 90, this buffer being normally biased against the magnetic head < B> 25 by a spring 91. A spring 92 of relatively great length is connected to the arm 89 at its point of joint 90, its opposite end passing over plate 45 and bearing against one side of a stud 93. When the control lever and the outer end of the lever plate tilt to the right in fig. 3, the pin 93 presses against the spring 92, so that the arm 89 pushes aside the buffer 30 of the magnetic head.
When the lever and the lever plate are moved to their normal positions, the pad is returned to its normal position in which it rests against the magnetic head or clamps a magnetic tape against the head. When the control lever is moved to the left, the said buffer remains in place.
The apparatus comprises suitable means for locking the control lever in its left or right positions. The control lever is provided with a locking device at a certain distance from its outer end in the form of a notch 95 made in the lever. spring 96, 97 cleats are mounted on either side of the lever, at approximately to the right of the notch 95. When the lever approaches one of the cleats, the latter engages elastically in the notch.
A lock 98 is mounted on the outer end of the control lever by means of a joint 99, this lock extending beyond the end of the lever and exiting through the opening 78. The inner end of the lock ends above the notch 95 and has on its ## opposite sides bevels 100 </ B > and 101 being able to cooperate with the bevels 102 and 103 formed on the tabs 96 and 97 respectively.
Assuming the control lever is locked in one of its positions by the stopper 96, if you want to bring it either to its normal position or to its opposite position, you de - set the lock 98 to the right. During the first part of this movement, the latch pivots and its bevel 100 bears against the bi-bucket 102, lifting the tab above the notch and releasing the lever. As the movement continues, the lever is pushed back to the desired position. Likewise, when the lever is locked in the other position by the tab 97, the latch automatically releases the lever when it is moved away from the tab.
When the operating lever is shifted to the left, it is in the anterior position- position, i.e. the magnetic tape 20 is unwinds by advancing from the reel 21 towards the reel 22. During this movement, one can proceed either to " the recording of the sounds on the tape, or to their By moving the lever to the right, it is placed in its rewinding position, that is to say in the position which corresponds to the movement of the tape (in the opposite direction) of the previous one.
With the control lever in its normal or neutral position, the lever plate 45 occupies its normal position and the brake shoes 70 and 71 are clamped against the discs 42 and 43, thus braking the coils 21 and 22. By moving the lever to the left to place it in its forward position, the link 79 rotates the lever plate to bring the disc, driver 51 engaged with disc 43. Spring 80 strongly presses these discs against each other.
Just before the discs have come into engagement, the 58 lever plate stud releases the bars 59 and 60 to release the brakes. -At the same time, the finger 85 releases the arm 82 and allows the spring 84 to return the drive pulley 31 towards the winch < B> 27 in rotation, to apply the magnetic tape against it. It will be noted that the disc 43 starts to move before the tape is tight against the winch. This ensures that the tension will be applied to the tape before it begins to be driven by the winch.
As the winch rotates at constant speed, the tape also moves at a uniform speed. A make sure the tape is wrapped around spool 22, its speed tends to increase, but the turntable 39 slides on the disc, so that the linear speed of the ribbon does not increase. The buffer 30 pressing the tape against the magnetic head at this moment the device records or reproduces the sounds, depending on the position of the inverter 16. </ B> The 96 catch locks the wedge lever in this position.
When you move the latch 98 to return the control lever to its neutral position, it begins by releasing the tab 96 to release the lever. This movement returns the lever plate to its normal position, and the finger 85 moves the pulley 31 away from the winch. The spring 80 acts to ensure that the pulley of the hoist is moved away from the winch before the drive of the disc 43 stops. The brakes are applied. the discs under the rotating plates as soon as the lever plate has started to move.
When you want to rewind the tape or part of it on the spool 21, you move the control lever from left to right, and it locks in this position by the action of the cleat 97. The pulley 31 moves further away from the winch, so that the tape moves away from the magnetic head, thus avoiding reproduction of sounds in the opposite direction. The switch 16 should be placed in the listening position, before moving the control lever, in order to separate the eraser 24 from the magnetic tape. The control lever moves the lever plate, and the first part of its movement causes the stud 93 to engage with the spring 92, to move the pad apart. 30 of the magnetic head.
At the same time, the brakes are released, and the continued movement brings the drive disc 51 into mesh with the disc 42. As the disc is smaller, the tape quickly winds around it. coil 21.
When the control lever is returned to its neutral position, the lock 98 begins to release the tab 97 from the lever. This movement separates the 51 and 52 discs, applies the brakes and returns the pad 30 to its normal position.
Appropriate means could possibly be provided to ensure the automatic movement of the reverser 16 to its listening position during the movement of the control lever towards the position ensuring the rewinding of the strip.
For example, to this effect, we can provide on the reverser a lever 107 inside the housing and projecting by its upper part through through -an elongated 108 slit in the. an arm 109 fixed to the rod 79 in 110 (fi, g. 3). < / B> The slot 108 has a length such that, with the control lever moved to the right, the lever 107 is driven in the same direction, passing the switch 16 to the listening position. When moving the control lever to the left, the 107 lever and the toggle switch remain stationary, so that the web unwinds in the direction that corresponds to the reproduction of sound recording. To record, simply place the inverter in the record position.
