Equipment on motorcycles to protect the driver against wind, rain and dirt. In motorcycles to this day essentially two forms of device have been used to protect the rider against wind, rain and dirt. The first embodiment consists of shields arranged on the side of the engine, which protect the rider's knees and legs, commonly known as knees On the other hand, scooters use shields located in front of the engine, which also protect the driver's legs up to the height of the handlebars.
All of these shields are rigidly connected to the frame of the motorcycle. When steering it, they remain calm in relation to the frame and the driver and do not move.
As a result, it is impossible to place these shields in front of the handlebars or to have them go over the handlebars to protect the rider higher up.
The upper parts of the body are often covered by additional shields, so-called windshields. These discs are mounted on the handlebar, so they move with the handlebar when you steer and protect the hands and upper part of the driver's body.
As a result, no combination of the known protective shields can completely protect the driver from the front, since a fairly large space must always remain between the shields rigidly connected to the frame and the windshield connected to the handlebar so that the driver can move the handlebar. Water, rain, excrement and dust penetrate through this gap and fall directly on the driver, so that he can never be completely protected from the front.
The present invention has the task of eliminating this disadvantage and of creating a device that allows the driver to be fully covered from the front. The device is characterized by a shield that extends downward from the handlebar in front of your steering head and moves with the handlebar.
On the upper edge of the shield, a windshield can be mounted that rests tightly over the entire width of the shield and of course moves with the handlebar. The driver is then fully protected from the front against rain, wind, dust and manure.
The police number can be displayed on the protective shield, as it is in front of the shield. no more parts are lying. The shield has openings in front of geous for the access of cooling air to the engine. These openings can be provided with a decorative grille like the radiator grille of a modern car, so that the aesthetic design of the machine is largely improved.
Some exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in the accompanying drawing. It shows: FIG. 1 a device with a shield on a motorcycle fork, seen from the side, FIG. 2 a device with a shield and windshield, seen from the front, and FIG. 3 the device according to FIG. 2 seen from the side.
The shield 1 is mounted on the fork 2 in front of the steering head so that it also protects the steering rod 3 from the front. At the same time, the shield switches off the headlight. On the shield, the police number 4 is fastened, and the opening 5 allows the access of cooling air to the engine. The trademark of the vehicle can be affixed at the point 6. The knee pads 7 protect the driver's legs from the front.
According to Fig. 2 and '3 there is also a windshield 8 which is mounted from the front with screws close to the upper edge of the shield.
In both versions, the opening 5 is seen for the cold book with a decorative grille ver. The knee pads 7, the shield 1 and the windshield $ give a complete protection of the driver, even if he moves the handlebar to steer the vehicle.
