Metal protective box for electrical equipment. The present invention relates to a protective metal cabinet for an electrical appliance intended to be connected to a power supply network and which it is desirable to isolate from the network before it is accessible, for example for its maintenance. . Thus, in the case of a voltage transformer connected to a high voltage power source, it is important, in order to protect the operator, to provide means allowing both to isolate the transformer before that. it cannot be made accessible to allow maintenance or the replacement of fuses.
This object is usually achieved either by providing a separate isolation switch or by allowing removal of the apparatus. These solutions require additional space, which can lead to increasing the dimensions of the assembly to house the switch or to reducing the space available to polish other parts.
The box according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a movable box made mainly of metal and in which is. mounted the apparatus, this mobile housing being of generally cylindrical shape and being mounted in said. fixed housing, so as to be able to rotate around its axis between a working position, in which the opening of the fixed housing is closed by the mobile housing, and a maintenance position, in which the device turns the entire device. by presenting, facing]. 'opening of the fixed housing, an opening coinciding at least approximately with said opening, fixed contact parts arranged inside the fixed housing and outside the movable housing, at a distance from this last box,
and movable contact parts carried by the movable casing out of which they protrude and cooperating with the fixed contact parts, so as to engage the device by connecting it to the fixed contact parts in the working position of the movable casing and to trigger the device by isolating it from these fixed contact parts when the mobile unit is brought into the maintenance position.
The appended drawing represents, by way of examples, two embodiments of the freight cost object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a frontal section in elevation, by la. line I-I of fig. 2, of a first embodiment of the box containing a voltage transformer.
Fig. 2 is a section taken along line II-II of FIG. 1, the mobile housing being shown in the working position.
Fig. 3 is a section similar to that of FIG. 2, the mobile housing being shown in the maintenance position.
Fig. 4 shows a box according to a second embodiment.
In the first embodiment, a voltage transformer A. is placed inside a rotary box B placed in turn in a fixed box C. This box C is parallelepiped. It has at its upper surface an elongated rectangular opening Ci giving access to the device placed inside. The housing B is of a generally cylindrical shape and it is pivoted at C2 in the fixed housing C, so as to be able to rotate about a horizontal axis.
On about half of its periphery, the box B is constituted by a cylindrical metal wall, while on a quarter of its periphery, it is formed by an insulating panel D, the last quarter being open to ensure access. inside. The housing B can be rotated by approximately ninety degrees from a service position, shown in FIG. 3, in which the opening of the housing B coincides with the opening C1 of the housing C, up to a working position shown in FIG. 2,
in which the opening C1 is closed by a part of the cylindrical wall of the housing <I> B. </I> The latter includes a handle <I> B '</I> allowing it to be moved from one position to the other, the device which it contains being arranged so that its weight tends to maintain the housing B in the maintenance position. A wheel lock E makes it possible to retain the box B in the working position.
The transformer is protected by -fubles F, also mounted in the box B near the opening of the latter, so that when this box is moved to its maintenance position, the fuses are easily accessible through the 'opening Cl of the fixed box C. The fuses are connected on the one hand to the primary high voltage windings of the transformer and, on the other hand, to contact parts or blades G carried by the insulating panel D on the outside from which they protrude. In the fixed box are mounted, in corresponding number, fixed contact parts or H blades which come into contact with the blades G when the mobile box is in the working position.
Earthing contact pieces or blades J are also provided, arranged in the fixed box, so as to come into contact with the blades G when the mobile box is in the maintenance position, so that the windings are not only isolated, but also earthed when they are accessible to the operator.
A number of contact parts or terminals K, housed in insulating sleeves K ', pass through holes made in the cylindrical wall of the housing B and come into contact, in the working position, with a corresponding number of blades. fixed L. In the working position shown in fig. 2, the panel D carrying the blades G is placed horizontally at the lower part of the box B, while the terminals K are opposite a front panel of the box -fixed. When the mobile box is in the service position (fig. 3), the K terminals are located at the bottom of the box, while the panel carrying the blades G is at the back in the box.
As shown in fig. 1, the terminals K are arranged at one end of the housing B, so as to be well spaced from the blades H, and the latter are placed at a sufficient radial distance from the housing B.
The housing C comprises an external cover 111 placed on the upper part of the opening C1, intended to prevent the ingress of dust. This cover can be removed in cases where it is not needed.
When the voltage transformer is to be immersed in a liquid, the box C appears as a tank filled with liquid.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 4, very similar to that shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, is reversed with respect to the latter, so that the opening of the fixed housing C is at the bottom. In place of the cover 11'l, there is provided a cover <I> N </I> hinged on the housing B and whose shape is such that it continues the cylindrical surface of this housing when it is closed. . A spring. P tension helical is mounted so as to urge the mobile housing towards its maintenance position.
Furthermore, the apparatus is similar to that shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 and the different parts have the same reference letters.
It is obvious that this box may contain another device than a voltage transformer, for example a rotary switch or any other device which it is desirable to isolate before making it accessible for its maintenance. The rotating housing can also be mounted to rotate about a vertical axis.
