Anti-skid chain attached to a wheel. Experience shows that in certain soil conditions, especially on very loamy, soft subsoil, anti-skid agents for vehicles that have a strong grip due to large chain divisions, special links, cleats, etc., lose their effect.
It is becoming more and more evident that it is not so much the shape as the constant cleaning of the chains that is a prerequisite for their trouble-free function. One has. For this reason, it was especially important to ensure that the chain parts on the bike had a certain mobility in order to support their self-cleaning. However, this mobility must be limited, because otherwise the firm, proper fit of the chain will suffer. The disadvantages on the other hand, which are associated with the production and use of special elements for anti-skid chains, z. B. with heavy gripping plates, individual thorns, etc., are obvious. .
Surprisingly, it has now been found that the problem of effective anti-skid protection in particularly poor travel conditions can be solved in a simple manner by superimposing additional chain strands on at least part of the chain strands that overlap the running surface of a wheel and lie on this surface. Appropriately happens. this so that the additional chain strands are individually hooked into the chain part resting on the running surface so that they remain free from the tension of the latter and can not only shake themselves free of dirt, ice, etc., but also continuously knock off the chain part mentioned and clean.
Comparative tests have shown that such. Chain enables excellent gripping performance even on a substrate that has a very low shear force and has a strong tendency to form clumps. By superimposing the chain strands, you not only get a reliable cleaning of the same, but at the same time a high gripping profile despite the use of small chain pitches, a success that cannot be achieved with any known anti-skid chain.
At the same time, a great advantage is that the additional chain strands can be made from normal chains, so they do not require special production. Naturally, it is not necessary for the overlaid chain strands to be completely identical to the strands lying beneath them.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, namely the drawing figure shows a cross section through a wheel tire with an anti-skid chain.

of the overlying chain strands is formed. This chain part 3 is connected by intermediate links 4 and 5 to lateral tensioning chains, not shown in the drawing. Additional chain strands are now placed over at least some of the chain strands of part 3 resting on the wheel. In the drawing, the additional chain strand 6 'is located above the chain strand 3', the two outermost connecting links 7 and 8 of which are connected to the chain part 3 '. The connecting links are set relatively high.
This results in a large, independent mobility of the additional chains 6.
Depending on the circumstances, the additional chain strands are either, as in the drawing example, firmly attached to the chain parts resting on the tread of the tire, or they are fastened interchangeably. The extent to which the chain part lying on the running surface is covered by additional chains is left to the needs of the individual case. It is generally sufficient if, for example in the case of a zigzag chain or ladder chain, an additional chain strand is superimposed on each chain strand after that. In the case of so-called net chains, for example, each element of the chain net could be provided with an additional chain strand.
As is known, net chains are anti-skid chains in which a chain figure lying against the tread, for example a quadrant, is repeated several times on the circumference of the tire.
