Montre universelle.
Universal watch. The present invention relates to a universal watch comprising, in addition to ordinary time indicator members, a rotary dial driven by the movement and indicating, opposite a fixed dial, the time in different time zones around the globe.
This watch is characterized by a positive device making it possible to manually move said rotary dial independently of the aforementioned indicator members, all in such a way as to allow focusing. of the rotary dial.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, three embodiments of the object of the invention.
Figs. 1, 3 and> are. plan views, respectively of each of these three embodiments, some parts being cut away.
Fig. 2 is a section along II - II of FIG. 7.
Fig. 4 is a section along IV-IV of FIG. 3, and fig. 6 is a following cut. VI-VI of fig. 5.
In fig. let 2, the watch shown comprises hands 1, 2 and 3, respectively for hours, minutes and seconds. The dial comprises two concentric circular parts, one fixed and the other rotating, hereinafter referred to as a fixed dial and a rotating dial. The fixed dial, designated by 4, bearing a 12-hour circle of hours 5, is annular. A dial 6 is rotatably mounted inside the dial 4.
This rotary dial bears a series of names of the capitals 7 and is intended to indicate the legal time in these localities by cooperating with a twenty-four hour turn 8 inscribed on the fixed dial 4. We could have the turn. of twenty-four hours 8 on the rotating dial- 'and the names of the capitals 7 in place of the twenty-four hour turn. The driving of the dial 6 by the movement is effected by a wheel 9 meshing with the wheel at. barrel designated by 10 and driving, through the intermediary of a friction coupling, a ratchet wheel 11 integral with a wheel 12, which leads. a toothed ring 1.3, chased on a drop 6a of the dial 6. The friction between the wheels 9 and 11 is provided by a helical spring 14.
The gear ratio between the various mobiles of the train driving the dial 6 is. such that this dial makes one revolution in twenty-four hours.
This watch includes a reset device. at the manual point of the dial 6. This device comprises the pusher 15 articulated at 16 and having one end 15a acting on a rocker 1.7, one end of which in the form of a beak, designated by 17a ,, cooperates with the ratchet. II. Leaf springs 1.8 and 19 serve to return the pusher 1.5 and the rocker 17, respectively. The maneuver of the pusher 15 thus produces movements of the dial 6, movements which are not transmitted to the other indicator members, thanks to the friction between the wheels 19 and 17.
The time setting of this watch is carried out in two different ways: When you do not change the time zone, and when it is an update. the hour following an irregular stop or operation of the watch, the user activates it. crown designated by 20, which causes the displacement of hands 1 and 2 and of dial 6.
If, on the contrary, the time setting is necessary by a change of time zone, the user. operates the crown 20 to reset the hands 1 and 2 to the time of the new time zone in which it is located, but in doing so, it moves the dial 6 which should not have been touched. The user then operates the pusher 15, which enables him to return the dial 6 to the position which he occupied and which he should not have left.
In the second embodiment (fig. 3 and 4), the fixed dial designated by 21, bearing the turns of twelve and twenty-four hours, is located in the center of the rotary dial designated by 22, which is annular and bears the names of the capitals. The dial 22 is integral with a toothed crown 23 meshing. with a pinion 24 integral with a Breguet toothed wheel 25. The wheel 25 is itself driven by an identical wheel 26 integral with a pinion 27. Pinion 27 is dragged by the timing transmission designated by 28, through a reference 20. The dial 22 makes one revolution in twenty-four hours.
The two wheels 25 and 26 of the one-way dragging device, called Breguet, are brought to cooperate with each other by a leaf spring 30 visible in FIG. 3. The device for resetting the dial 22 com takes a commanding push-button 31; a pawl 32, which cooperates with the pinion 24. The position of the names of the capitals and of the twenty-four hour turn could also be inverted.
In the last embodiment (fig. And 6) the rotary dial is an annular dial, designated by 33 bearing. a twenty-four hour tour. This rotary dial is situated between a fixed inner dial designated by 34, bearing a twelve o'clock turn and a fixed annular outer dial 35 bearing the names of the capitals.
The dial 33 is integral with a crown 36 controlled by the wheel. barrel designated by 37, through the intermediary of iui gear train comprising a Breguet device. A refocusing device similar to the previous one allows the dial 33 to be moved independently of the other indicator members.
Manual movement of the rotating dial could be done by a crown replacing the push-button or even by a rotating bezel.
