Device for threading thread through a needle. The present invention relates to a device for threading thread through a needle.
Various devices are already known, but they are all relatively difficult to operate. In general, it is necessary to hold the needle so that the needle hole is positioned in front of a hook, to operate a hook actuator by hand to pass it through the hole in the hook. needle, insert the thread into the hook and then remove the hook through the hole in the needle. Although springs are sometimes provided to make one or more automatic organs, the handling required is long.
Further, these semi-automatic devices are of complicated construction and subject to disturbances during operation.
The device according to the present invention is characterized by a member having a hole intended to receive a needle, and a passage intended to receive the thread and cutting the axis of said hole, by a movable member capable of moving across this hole. and said passage and hooking the wire disposed in the latter, by a head capable of performing a reciprocating movement while remaining in the extension of said hole and arranged so as to intercept, from a certain position, the trajectory of said movable member, and by means making it possible to temporarily bring the head into a position where it leaves the trajectory of said movable member free,
these means being further arranged so as to allow said movable member to move through said hole and said passage when actuated, the whole being arranged so that when a needle is disposed in said hole and that it rests on said head, it is brought into the path of said movable member when said means are actuated, furthermore so that if the eye is disposed in a suitable manner, said movable member penetrates therein and. in said passage without catching the thread which is disposed therein, and finally so that, when said means are released, said head lifts the needle to allow it to be seized and said movable member pulls a loop of thread through the eye of the needle.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a device constituting this embodiment. Fig. 2 is an elevation with the cover removed to show the interior and, in dotted lines, the operating position of the moving parts.
Fig. 3 is a sectional plan taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 2.
Fig. 4 is a section taken along line 4--4 of FIG. 2.
Fig. 5 is a rear view of part of the device shown in FIG. I.
The device shown in the drawing includes a housing 10, provided with a peripheral rim 11 to which. is intended to be fixed a cover 20. The cover 20 is fixed to the housing 10 by a device comprising a stud 21 (see Fig. 6) having a shoulder rait. 22 and a rod 23 inserted into a hole 24 of the cover 20. The actuator head 25 is attached to the rod 23, for example, by being sealed or forced. The cover can be quickly attached to the housing 10 by screwing the stud into a threaded hole 26 in the rear wall 12 of the housing, this by rotating the head 25.
The housing 10 has a part 13 (see FIG. 2) in which is made a hole 14 having a flared opening and intended to receive a needle. Two guides 17 and 18 are located in the extension of part 13 and come integrally with the wall 12 of the housing; they are intended to guide a slider 30 having a head 35. The slider 30 can perform a reciprocating movement between the guides 17 and 18, and in the head 35 is made a transverse passage 31.
The head 35 has a transverse groove 36 intended to guide a hook 45 and cut by a recess 37 which is substantially perpendicular to it. The upper end of the slider 30 has a hole 32 continuing the hole 14.
A member 40, generally L-shaped, is pivotally mounted next to the guide 18 and it comprises the hook 45 intended to enter the eye of the needle by engaging in the passage 31. The hook 45 is stamped. in a thin sheet of steel or other metal. An ear 42, located near the pivot 43 of the member 40, carries a spring 44 which is fixed to a pin 46 fixed in the wall 12. The spring 44 tends to cause the member 40 to pivot counterclockwise. a watch to engage the hook 45 across the axis of the hole 14.
The rear wall 12 of the housing and the cover 20 have grooves 51 and 52 which cooperate together to form a pitch 50 intended to receive the wire. The passage 50 extends obliquely towards the interior, so as to cut the axes of the hole 14 and of the slide 30, so that, when the head 35 is in the lowered position, a thread can be inserted in the passage 50 until in said axes. A device is provided for pinching the wire placed in the passage 50; it comprises a wire 53 fixed at its ends by rivets 54 and 56 to the outer surface of the cover 20, and it has a handle arranged around a rivet 57 fixed to the cover 20.
The two arms of the wire 53, included between the outer rivets 54 and 56 and the inner rivet 57, are substantially parallel and biased towards each other, so that when a wire is drawn through the passage 50, it slides between the said two arms and is held at the inner end of the passage.
A bar 60 is disposed transversely in the lower part of the housing 10, and one of its ends is pivoted on the wall 12 at 61. The bar is pivotally mounted at 62 on a perforated end 63 of the slide 30. A rod 65. is rotated by sound. lower end than. the free end of the bar 60, as shown at 64; this rod passes through a substantially horizontal part of the rim 11 and its outer end carries an operating button 67. A relatively strong spring 68 is stretched between the end of the bar 60 and a pin 71 fixed in the wall 12.
The spring 68 tends to place the bar in the position shown in FIG. ?, in which the slide 30 and the head 35 are in the rest position. A stopper, in this case the rod 7 2 which is arranged perpendicular to the. bar E0, exerts, in this position, a force on the member 40, so. to maintain this member and the hook 45 in the retracted position.
To use the device, a needle is introduced into the hole 14, the head thereof first, until the head of the needle comes into contact with the head 35, where it is received in the hole. recess 37. Then weigh sar the lever button to lower the slider 30 and the. head 35, the needle also descending by gravity. As stopper 72 moves downward, spring 44 rotates member 40 counterclockwise. The hook. 41 passes through the eye of the needle and engages in passage 50.
A wire is then introduced into the passage 50 and is held in the lower end of the passage 50 by the wire 53. When the button 67 is released, the spring 68 pulls the bar 60 upwards. The stop 72 comes into contact with the member 40 by causing it to pivot in the direction of clockwise. This has the effect of pulling hook 4 5 through the hole in the needle, pulling the thread with it. At the same time, the upward movement of the head 35 pushes the needle so that it can be withdrawn from hole 14 with a loop of thread threaded through its eye. It should be noted that the spring 68 is considerably stronger than the spring 44, so that the members are normally maintained in the position shown in solid lines in FIG. 2.
Means are provided for cutting the wire to the desired length. These means are constituted by scissors 80 comprising a fixed blade 81 mounted at the rear of the housing at the edge of the passage 50. An arm 82 is pivoted at 83 and its blade 84 is kept normally spaced from the blade 81. For this purpose , the blade 84 has a tongue 86 carrying a finger penetrating into the housing through a groove 88 in the wall 12. A spring 89 is fixed to the finger 87 and to a pin 91 to keep the scissors open. The scissors are activated by squeezing the part 92 of the arm 82.
It is also possible to provide, in the head 35, means arranged and arranged so that the eye of the needle is located opposite the hook 45, so that the latter can enter it.
