Hierbei kommen z. B. Diazoverbindungen fol gender Amine in Betracht :@minobelizolsulfonsäuren wie 7-Aininoben- zol-2-, -3- oder -4-sulfonsäure, 4-Nitro-1-amino- benzol-2-sulfonsäure, 1-Amino-2-methoxyben- zol-4-sulfonsäure, 2-Nitro-l-aminobenzol-4-sul- fonsäure, 4-Nitro-4'-aminodiphenyiamin-2-sul- fonsäure,
Aminonaphthalinsulfonsäuren wie 1-Aininonaphthalin-4- oder -5-sulfonsäure, 2- Aminonaphthaliii-6- oder -7-sulfonsäure, 1- Aminonaphthalin-3,6-, -4,6- oder -4,7-disulfon- säure, 2-Aminonaphthalin-3,6- oder -6,8-disul- fonsäure, 1-Amino-8-oxynaphthalin-3,6-disiil- fonsäure.
Wertvolle Ergebnisse erhält man z.

Process for producing dyeings on leather. It has been found that valuable dyeings can be produced on leather when it is dyed with such azo dyes of the stilbene series, which are obtained when 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid is used with aminomonoazo dyes of the general type Formula.
EMI0001.0007
condensed, where R., and R2 each represent an aromatic radical of the benzene or naphthalene series.
The mono azo dyes of the above formula which are used as starting materials in the preparation of the stilbena7o dyes can be obtained, for example, by adding a diazo compound of an amine of the formula HO33S-Ri-NII2, in which R 1 denotes an aromatic radical of the benzene or naphthalene series, combined with a couplable diamine of the formula H2N-R2-NH2, in which R2 is an aromatic radical of the benzene or naphthalene series.
Here come z. B. Diazo compounds following amines into consideration: @ minobelizolsulfonic acids such as 7-Aininobenzol-2-, -3- or -4-sulfonic acid, 4-nitro-1-aminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-2- methoxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid, 2-nitro-1-aminobenzene-4-sulfonic acid, 4-nitro-4'-aminodiphenyiamine-2-sulfonic acid,
Aminonaphthalene sulfonic acids such as 1-ainonaphthalene-4- or -5-sulfonic acid, 2- aminonaphthalene-6- or -7-sulfonic acid, 1- aminonaphthalene-3,6-, -4,6- or -4,7-disulfonic acid, 2-aminonaphthalene-3,6- or -6,8-disulfonic acid, 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid.
Valuable results are obtained e.g. B. if one proceeds from monoazo dyes from diano-oriented compounds of the specified type which contain a nitro group, such as. B. 4-Nitro-1-aminonaphthalene-5-sulfonic acid.
As coupling components which can be used for the preparation of the amino monoazo dyes of the above formula, see z. B. the following connec tions: 1,2- or 1,3-diaminobenzene, 4-chloro-l., 3-diaminobenzene, 4-methoxy-1,3-diaminobenzene, 1,5- or 1,8-diaminonaphthalene.
Valuable products can be obtained especially with 1,3-diaminobenzene. By the method given above, for example, 1 mole of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid can condense with one mole of an amino azofa dye of the formula given.
Furthermore, 1 mole of 4,4'-di-nitrostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid can be mixed with 2 moles of an aminoazo dye of the type mentioned or, if desired, with 1 mole each of two different, such aminoazo dyes,
or condense with 1 mole of an aminoazo dye of the type indicated and one mole of any primary aromatic amino compound. But you can also choose the quantities of the components to be condensed so that their ratios to one another are not integers.
For example, 1 mole of dinitrostilbene disulfonic acid can be condensed with 1 mole of an aminoazo dye and 0.65 llol of another aminoazo dye or any primary aromatic amine.
Examples of suitable aromatic amines to be mentioned in this context are: 3-nitro-1-aminobenzene, 4-aminocinnamic acid, dehydrothiotoluidinesulfonic acid, etc.
The condensations are expediently carried out in an aqueous medium and in the presence of alkali metal hydroxide. Good results are obtained, for example, if the starting materials to be reacted with one another are diluted in, for. B. 2 to 8 o / o alkali metal hydroxide solution for a long time, z. B. 5 to 20 hours, temperature at elevated Tempe, z. B. in an open vessel at Siedetem temperature of the reaction mixture and under reflux cooling or at even higher temperatures and under pressure can act on each other.
The dyes of the stilbene series corresponding to the composition specified at the outset are particularly suitable for dyeing chrome-tanned leather, and the dyeings produced with these products on leather in a manner known per se are generally characterized by high uniformity.
Example: 100 parts of well-neutralized chrome leather (Boxealf, Rindbox, Chevreaux, etc.) are run in the dyeing barrel with three times the amount of water from 60 and by adding a dye solution that contains 1 part of one of the dyes described below dissolved in 50 parts of water , colored for 45 minutes and then greased in the same or fresh liquor. The leather dyed in this way shows very uniform brown shades.
a) 34.1 parts (0.1 mol) of the honoazo dye, which is obtained by coupling dianotated 1-aminoaphthalene-5-sulfonic acid with 1,3-diaminobenzene in an acetic acid medium, are 43.0 Parts (0.1 1o1) of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid dissolved in 500 parts of water with the addition of 50 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution and then heated to the boil for 15 hours with stirring and reverse flow cooling.
5 0 parts of sodium chloride are added to the cold reaction mixture and the excess sodium hydroxide is neutralized by adding sufficient hydrochloric acid until it is still pale orange in color to brilliant yellow paper. The condensation product is practically completely separated and can be filtered off and dried. When dry, it forms a dark powder that dissolves in water with a brown color and dyes chrome leather in deep red-brown tones.
b) 77.2 parts (0.2 31o1) of the mono-dye obtained by combining diazotized 1-amino-4-nitronaphthaline-5-sulfonic acid with.
1,3-Diaminobeiizol is obtained in acetic acid medium, with -16.4 parts (0.1 31o1) disodium salt of 4,4'-dinitrostilben-2,2'-disulfonic acid in 800 parts of water with the addition of sodium hydroxide solution- ge in such a way that the solution reacts in a brilliant yellow-alkaline manner.
60 parts of a 30% sodium hydroxide solution are then added to the solution, the mixture is heated to the boil with stirring and kept at the boil for 20 hours under reflux.
By adding 100 parts of sodium chloride to the reaction mixture cooled to 60 and neutralizing the excess alkali with hydrochloric acid, the new dye is deposited in a readily filterable form. When dried, it forms a dark powder that colors chrome leather in full, dark yellow-brown tones.
In addition to the dye described in the following two sections c and d, 1-amino-4-nitronaphthalene-5-sulphoic acid is expediently used as the purified product and not in the known production process ren anl'allenfflk #n. contaminated quality. The product prepared in a known manner can by dissolving with the addition of
Sodium carbonate and reprecipitation with sodium chloride cleaned from the solution in a satisfactory way. will.
c) 38.6 parts (0.1 1M1) of the mono-dye, ofres, which was also used in section b, are in the form of the sodium salt together with 46.4 parts (0.1 '11o1) of the dinatrium salt of the 4th , 4'-Dinitrostilben-2,2'-disulfon- siitu-e dissolved in 600 parts of hot water.
100 parts of a 30% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution are added to this solution and the mixture is heated to 110 to 115 for 5 hours in a stirrer autoclave. After cooling, the dye formed is separated out of the solution by using aluminum salts and neutralizing the excess alkali. When dry, it forms a dark powder that colors chrome leather in full, pure yellow-brown tones.
(1) 43.6 parts (0.1 11o1) of the monoazo dye, which is obtained by coupling diazotized 1-amino-4-nitr.-onzililithalin-5-sulfonic acid with 1,5-diaminonaphthalene in acetic acid solution, are obtained condensed with 43.0 parts (0.1. 11o1) of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid by the method of section a. The result is a dye that dyes chrome leather in deep brown-yellow tones.
If, in this section, 87.2 parts (0.2 mol) of the monoazo dye mentioned are used instead of 43.6 parts, and if the procedure is otherwise according to the instructions in paragraph b, the result is a dye which dyes chrome leather in tobacco-brown shades.
The table below describes a number of other valuable leather dyes which can be produced by the method of sections a to d. In the molar condensation ratio column, the first number refers to the amine a. a possible number on the amine b and the last number on the 4,4'-dinitrostilbene- \ ?, 2'-disulfonic acid.
