<SEP> Pour <SEP> atteindre <SEP> ce <SEP> but,
<SEP> Or, <SEP> cette <SEP> solution <SEP> présente <SEP> à

<tb> <SEP> position <SEP> device <SEP> is <SEP> certainly <SEP> the one
<tb> who.
<SEP> presents <SEP> the <SEP> plus <SEP> major <SEP> advantages <SEP> for the user, because, on the one hand, the device fixed under the crankset lowers the center of gravity of the bicycle and , on the other hand, there is less risk of oil being sprayed on clothing.
The present invention relates to a drive device for a velocipede comprising a single-cylinder combustion engine, the piston of which actuates a crankshaft connected directly to a driving roller, in such a way that the latter rotates at the same speed as the crankshaft. , a suspension device allowing it to be suspended under the pedal board of the velocipede.
This device is characterized by the fact that it comprises a piston rod whose oscillation plane is offset with respect to the axis of the cylinder and parallel to this axis.
The appended drawing shows, schematically and by way of example, one embodiment of the training device which is the subject of the invention.
Figs. 1 and 2 are side and front views in position under the crankset of a bicycle.
Fig. 3 is a view in partial section along a plane passing through the cylinder and through the crankshaft along line 111-11I of FIG. \ ?.
Fig. 4 is a partial sectional view along the line IV-IV of FIG. ?.
Fig. 5 is a partial sectional view along the line V-V of FIG. 1.
In the embodiment shown in the appended drawing, the device has an air-cooled two-stroke engine, the cylinder block 1 of which is rigidly fixed to a casing 2. The latter contains a flywheel 3 rigidly fixed to one of the ends of a motor shaft 4 supported by bearings 5, 6, one of which is fixed to one of the walls of the housing, the other to a support 7 fixed to said wall of the housing.
This flywheel carries a crank pin 8 on which is pivoted the root of a connecting rod 9, the head of which is pivoted on the axis 10 of a piston 11 moving in the cylinder 12. As shown in the drawing, the connecting rod 9 is offset, that is to say that its plane of oscillation is offset by a distance a with respect to the axis b of the cylinder and is parallel to this axis.
The head of the connecting rod 9 is also offset from the axis b of the cylinder.
A drive roller 13 is rigidly fixed on the motor shaft 4 between the two bearings 5 and 6. This roller is intended to engage with the tire 15 of the rear wheel 16 to drive the latter in rotation.
A magneto (not shown) is housed in a space 18 delimited by one of the walls of the casing, the support 7 and a protective plate 21, so as to be fully protected against dust. The rotor of this magneto is integral with a pinion 19 meshing with a gear 20 rigidly fixed to the shaft 4. The end of the rotor shaft carries the rotating part of a breaker (not shown).
A fuel tank <B> 222), </B> fixed above the crankset, for example, is connected by a pipe 23 to a carburetor 24 whose nozzle (not shown) opens out inside a suction line <B> 225. </B> An exhaust line 26 provided with an exhaust pipe 27 is. attached to the cylinder block.
The support 7 is rigidly fixed to the housing \? by means of fasteners 2s. The housing has a sleeve 30 lined internally with an elastic material 31. and crossed by a hinge pin 32. Two rods 33 connect this pin to a second hinge pin 34 passing through a sleeve 35 lined internally with an elastic material. 36 and integral with an attachment support 37 forming part of a clamping member fixed to the tubes 38 of the rear fork of the bi-cyclette.
In addition, the head of the cylinder is suspended from the frame of the bicycle by means of a leaf spring 53, one end of which is rigidly fixed to the head of the cylinder by fixing members 54, while its other end is rigidly fixed to the head of the cylinder. east end. rigidly fixed to a frame tube using a clamp 55.
Two springs 39, each attached by one of their ends to the cylinder block and by their other end to a tab 40 of the attachment support 37, tend to apply the drive roller to the tire.
A bowden cable 41, one of the ends of which is attached at 42 to the housing, its sheath being fixed to the attachment support: 37, and the other end of which is fixed to a handle with locking notches (not shown ) placed on the handlebars of the bicycle, for example, makes it possible to bring the drive roller in or out of engagement with the tire and therefore to establish and interrupt at will the mechanical connection between the motor shaft and the rear wheel.
From the foregoing and from the examination of the appended drawing, it can be seen that the drive roller being rigidly fixed to the motor shaft, there is no intermediate transmission member that is delicate or that could be the cause of unpleasant noises in the connection. mechanism connecting the roller to the motor shaft.
Thanks to the fact that the connecting rod is offset from. the axis b of the cylinder it is. it is possible to provide sufficient displacement to obtain sufficient engine torque. to drive the bicycle to. using a roller rotating at the same speed as the motor shaft, while maintaining a width c of the entire device less than the normal spacing d. connecting rods 43 of the pedal.
The flywheel and all rotating parts, except the drive roller, are. fully closed and protected, so that no rotating parts do. protrudes outside and does not risk being struck by the driver. The chain case 56 passes above the support: 7, as shown in fig. 1 and?.
In addition, the drive device does not include any loose clutch device like most. known drive devices, the interruption and establishment of the mechanical connection between the drive shaft and the rear wheel of the bicycle being achieved by simple oscillation of the drive device on its articulation axes <B > 329 </B> and 34. This oscillation can be controlled by a lever placed on the handlebars, the user has every facility to cause the clutch movements and disengagement while remaining in position on the velocipede and during the walk of the latter.
The drive device being suspended under the crankset, it gives the bi-cycle excellent stability due to the fact that it lowers its center of gravity, and moreover leaves the luggage rack and the front fork completely free for the transport of packages and other items. The suspension of the device being effected by means of resilient blades and articulations provided with elastic material, the vibrations of the motor are practically not transmitted to the frame of the bicycle.
A constructive feature of the device shown in the drawing is constituted by the fact that the whole of the motor shaft is held in axial position by a single nut 44. In fact, the flywheel is. force-mounted on the end of the shaft 4 and has a stop face 45 bearing on an axial stop 46, while the shaft 4 has three surfaces 47, 48, 49 of decreasing diameters. The first 47 is housed in the landing 5; the second and third are keyed respectively the drive roller and the gear 20 actuating the magneto.
This gear has a hub 50 housed in the bearing 6 and supported by its. front face on the drive roller, which in turn bears on the shoulder 51 of the shaft 4, the whole being tightened by the nut 44. Finally, the inner face 5? of the gear 20 is supported on an axial stop 58.
Thanks to this constructive feature, assembly and disassembly of the motor are extremely easy since, after having removed the protection plate <B> - "'</B> 1, it suffices to unscrew the nut 44 and remove the components. fixing the support 7 to allow the removal of the gear 20, the bearing 6 and the drag roller.
In addition, the described driving device can easily be mounted on all existing velocipedes, since the width c can easily be made smaller than the smallest distance d of the connecting rods of a crankset, and, moreover , it is attached to parts of the frame that differ little in shape and arrangement from one type of velocipede to another.
