Clamping device for split collets of a machine tool. Machine tools known hitherto and particularly lathes were equipped with clamping devices adapted to cooperate with a clamp of a well-defined type. On the same lathe, you could not use either an axially fixed clamp or. an axially movable clamp, called an American clamp. It was therefore necessary to have at your disposal two complete sets of pliers if you are working on milk with keys towers equipped with lice - Lin type of pliers and for the other.
The present invention seeks to remedy this drawback. It relates to a clamping device for a split collet of a machine tool, comprising a spindle, a clamping tube concentric with the turning axis and a sliding sleeve. The device according to the invention is characterized in that it further comprises two groups of parts which can be used as desired, one in cooperation with an axially fixed clamp, the other in cooperation with an axially movable clamp. , a ring of balls called to cooperate, on the one hand, with the interior wall, partly conical, of the sliding sleeve and, on the other hand,
with .conical surfaces of two rings located on either side of this ring of balls, one of these rings serving as a shoulder for the balls when they are subjected to the action of the sliding sleeve for the purpose of tightening, while the other trans puts on the tightening movement.
It should already be noted here that the term “axially movable clamp” also means the mechanisms intended for clamping parts for views of a borehole; one such mechanism includes. usually a clamp clamped against the walls of this borehole by means of a partly conical rod, screwed to a clamping tube in place of an American clamp.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of a positive clamping device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a section of the device following the axis of the spindle, showing the device equipped with an axially fixed clamp.
Fig. ? is a similar section, the lower half showing the device fitted with an American clamp, while the upper part shows the same arrangement fitted with a mechanism for clamping drilled parts.
The device shown comprises, as can be seen from the outset by comparing the two figures, immutable parts, a first group of parts used together with an axially fixed clamp and a second group of die parts used in conjunction with an axially movable clamp. interior or exterior.
Among the immutable parts are a pin 1 and a sliding sleeve 2, connected in a manner not shown and. Known per se to a lever for clamping or loosening a part, this lever being pivoted on a fixed part of the machine tool.
Among the immutable parts are also a ring of balls 3, two bab ies 4 and r located on either side of this ring of balls, a first clamping tube designated by 6, and finally a pair of springs 7 cons titués by Belleville washers.
Referring now to. fig. 1, it can be seen that a split clamp 8, axially fixed due to the fact that it rests against a nut 9 screwed at 10 on the spindle, cooperates with a bush 11 with an internal clamping cone, the rear end of which is stressed by the spells 7, a spring. coil 12 being disposed between this rear end of the sleeve 11. and the rear end of the clamp 8. There is also a shoulder sleeve 13 screwed into the rear end of the spindle 1. The sliding sleeve. 2 has an interior surface which is conical, at 14. Thus, when the sleeve is slid to the right, it forces the balls 3 to approach the turning axis.
As the shoulder ring 4 does not give way, since it rests on the shoulder sleeve 13, the balls 3 force the bagua 5, located between them and the clamping tube 6, to transmit their movement to this tube 6 and, via the springs 7, to the clamping sleeve 11; the split clamp 8 is thus forced to tighten on the part to be held.
Suppose that after having loosened the clamp by a movement of the sleeve 2 to the left, it is necessary to use an American split clamp 15: as shown in fi-. ?. The nut 9 is then unscrewed, then the clamp 8 and the sleeve 11 with the spring 12 which is housed therein are removed. We also unscrew. the shoulder sleeve 13 which is replaced by a second clamping tube 16, a rear part 17 of which, with an enlarged outside diameter, comes to rest against the ring -1 without however being screwed into the spindle 1 as was the. shoulder sleeve 13.
A. instead of the clamping sleeve 11, a sleeve with internal clamping cone 18 is introduced into the spindle, which a nut 19 will come to fix axially by tightening it on a shoulder 20 of the spindle 1. The clamp American split 15 is screwed into the front end. of the second clamping tube 16. This done, we can clamp a part in the clamp 15. For that, we do. slide the sleeve 21 to the right using the lever already mentioned.
The balls 3 separate the rings 4 and 5 from each other, and as the ring 5 is based on the nut 19, through the first clamping tube 6, the springs 7 and wrench socket 18, it is ring 4 which is moved by the balls. It is moved to the left and drags with it in this movement the clamp 15, via the second clamping tube 16. The elastic branches of the latter are. therefore tight on the part to be held.
The clamping device shown in the upper half of the. fig. 2 does not differ in itself from that shown in the lower half. We only replaced the American clamp 15, axially movable, by an internal clamping mechanism which comprises a sleeve 21 placed in the cone key the sleeve 18, a clamping rod 2 screws set in place of the clamp 15 in the the front end of the second clamping tube 16 and provided with a clamping cone 23, and finally a clamp:
internal clamping 24, sitting with its two internal cones on said cone 23 and on a cone of the sleeve 21. This assembly is known per se and should not be described in more detail.
To the left of each of the fi-. let. \ ?, there is shown a disspositit .key adjustment of the initial position of the clamp 8, respectively 15, with respect to its sleeve -de,; c-- rage 11., respectively 18.
To perform this Régia.ge, we screw more or less the sleeve 13 in the rear end of the spindle 1, and in the other case -on screws more or less the second clamping tube 16 on the. American clamp 15 or on the. clamping rod? ''. This done, the socket 13, respectively. tube 16, must be blocked against. at. pin 1.
To this end, each of the parts 13 and 1.6 is integral with a wheel: toothed 25, respectively 26, including; the. teeth constantly mesh with the. internal teeth 27 of an operating sleeve 28 capable of moving axially. The internal teeth? 7 is. long enough to engage with an external toothing of a stop ring 29, made integral with the spindle 1 by means of a key 30, when the operating sleeve 28 is pushed against a stop ring 31. by a coil spring 32 which thus maintains it in the stop position.
If we% -can make the adjustment mentioned above, we pull the maneuver sleeve 28 towards the. left against the spring 32, so that the internal teeth 27 of the actuating sleeve 28 come out of engagement with the teeth of the stop ring. 29. The operating sleeve 28 can then be rotated, which allows said adjustment by means of the toothed wheel 25, respectively 26.
We see. that only this toothed wheel 25, respectively 26, changes if one passes from one type of clamp to another, while all the parts 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 are immutable parts of the clamping device.
Certain parts of the device may be made in several parts for manufacturing reasons.
It is also understood that the present device can be used not only on lathes, but also on other machine tools.
