Tool to cut. The present invention relates to a have to cut, characterized in that it comprises, on the one hand, a fixed sleeve and, on the other hand, a movable part which can slide smooth in the fixed sleeve and consisting of a blade-holder rod extended by a cutting blade, the back of the said blade constantly resting on the sheath .par the intermediary of a .dispositif allowing the sliding friction to be reduced.
The latter device preferably consists of one or more rollers, integral with the sheath and provided or not with a groove.
The tool according to the invention can be produced in the form of a saw, but it is specified that the .lame of the tool is not necessarily provided with teeth, and that it can be a simple cutting blade. It can also have any special profile required for a particular use.
When said tool is constituted by a saw, its blade is of variable length, the lon gueur: free of the blade outside the oven reau being at all times the length strictly necessary for the work to be performed.
This saw has significant advantages over the two known models: bow saw and hand saw. In a bow saw, the blade is fixed at both ends and always remains taut, but the size of the bow prevents the use of the saw in the many cases where there is not enough room to insert the bow between the piece to be sawed and another piece which forms an obstacle. In a handsaw, this drawback is avoided, but the blade being fixed only to one of its ends, is entirely in cantilever and one is constrained by this fact, so that it presents a sufficient rigidity, to give it a reduced length and a strong thickness, which reduces the cutting speed and does not lend itself to delicate work.
The saw according to the invention combines the advantages of these two models, without presenting the drawbacks: in fact, the fulcrum of the blade in the sheath can be brought as close as one wishes to the workpiece. cut out, so that the blade hardly works overhanging; therefore, the blade being held during its reciprocating movement, can have a height and a thickness less than those of a handsaw, while allowing a greater amplitude of longitudinal displacement.
The figures of the accompanying drawing represent, by way of example, various embodiments of the tool according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an overview of the apparatus. In this figure, 1 designates the oven rake, 2 the blade holder, provided at one of its ends with a handle 3 and extended at the other end by the blade 4, resting on a roller 5 which can rotate around an axis 6 integral with the sheath 1. The blade is fixed by means of an axis 7 on the blade holder and can thus be folded along the latter when the tool is not in use.
Fig. 2 shows a cross-sectional view of the sleeve, at the height of the axis of the roller.
In order to ensure better sliding of the assembly in the sheath, the back of the blade 4 can be placed at the same level as the upper face of the blade holder 2; it is then possible to place in the sleeve several support rollers such as 5, 5 ', as shown in FIG. 3.
According to another arrangement shown in FIG. 4, it is possible to fix on one or the other face of the blade holder rollers such as 9, 9 'rolling on the internal walls of the sleeve. Any other arrangement, ensuring the longitudinal guidance of the blade and of the blade holder in the sheath and allowing the sliding friction to be reduced, can of course be used.
Likewise, the sheath can be advantageously provided with any device suitable for ensuring the lateral guidance of the blade, in order to avoid any play, and to allow a. perfectly straight line. This device can be constituted simply by a narrow groove 10 (FIG. 2) made in the longitudinal guide ga let ,. or by parts attached to the internal walls of the oven reau, or else by forming in the latter a narrowed groove 11, as shown in FIG. 5, or by placing on the internal faces of the sleeve, on either side of the blade, rollers 12, 12 ', on which the latter rolls (FIG. 6).
To use the saw, it is recommended to rest the end of the quill on the piece to be cut, which ensures a better seat of the saw and a more regular work; it is, on the other hand, useful to leave a certain space between the furnace and the part, in order to allow the attack and the work of the blade to be seen clearly. To reconcile these two conditions, the sheath can be extended at its end by a piece of any shape whatsoever forming a stop, which is pressed on the piece to be cut, and. which is arranged so as not to obscure the cutting edge. of the blade. One can also, for this purpose, strip part of the. side wall of the scabbard, so as to leave visible part of the blade.
The end of the sheath can also be provided with a flat part, of thickness less than that of the blade, and which engages in the kerf formed by the latter; this piece forms a guide and ensures a straight cut.
Finally, the tool according to the invention can be associated with a motor of any type ensuring the reciprocating movement of the assembly of the blade holder and of the blade.
