Electrically controlled automatic washing machine. The present invention relates to an electrically controlled automatic washing machine, comprising a combiner with an electric motor intended to ensure the automatic succession of the washing operations: washing , multiple rinses, multiple spinings.
This machine is characterized by heating means capable of being controlled by thermostats, and by an electric control device cooperating with said ther mostats and the motor of the combiner, such that it cuts off the circuit of said motor during operation. reheating the water to a predetermined temperature for a given washing operation and that at this moment, by the entry into action of one of the thermostats, under the influence of said temperature, the positive control restores the circuit to the combiner motor, so washing will continue automatically.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, the simplified diagram of the con nexions of an automatic washing machine. electric control according to the invention.
In this diagram, reference 1 designates an electric heating body of the washing machine which is. connected to the supply network R by a contactor 2 controlled by a relay 3 (read the user energizes by operating the main switch 4 which also sends current to the drive motor 5 of the agitating drum of the machine to washing and in a motor 6 of a combiner which ensures the automatic succession of the washing operations: washing in very hot water, rinses in lukewarm water, spinning at high speed.
Relay 3 is connected to neutral N of the supply network by means of a two-position switch 7, one conducting. by a thermostat. 8 set to 38, temperature for delicate fabrics, the other passing through a thermostat 9 set to 90, washing temperature for laundry supporting cooking.
The motor 6 of the combiner actuates a camshaft, not shown, and the various cams of which actuate contacts 10, 11 at the desired moment, which control the control electromagnets of the following services: 13 for the water intake in the machine, 14 for draining the water which takes place automatically, 24 for rotating the drum at high speed in order to carry out the spinning. The circuits of the electromagnets 13, 14 and 24 are closed through a water inlet stop contact 25, slaved to a float, not shown.
The tree at. cams carried by the engine 6 comprises in particular a normal cam, not shown, which regulates the duration of the hot water washing and activates the contacts 10 and 11 to initiate the rinses at the end of this washing duration. This same shaft also carries a special cam 15 of the same angular development as the normal cam, and intended to act in synchronism with it. This special cam 15 is used to open a contact 16 connected in the feedback circuit of this motor 6, in bypass with a reset contact 1.7. The latter is mounted on the armature of an auxiliary relay 18 connected in parallel with the relay 3 for controlling the heating body 1. It can, as a variant, form part of the relay 3 controlling. the heating body.
The switch 7 is mechanically connected to an auxiliary switching lever 19 which can occupy either a position 19 'in which the return to neutral of the circuit of the motor 6 of the combiner is ensured independently of the contacts 16 and 17, thanks to the by- pass 20, i.e. a second position 19 "in which this return can be effected by contacts 16 and 17.
To prepare and ensure washing, the machine described above operates as follows After the roughing of the laundry, the completion of which is signaled by the complete stopping of the machine, drum and heating element, the operator places the switch 7 on one of the contacts 8 and 9 depending on whether it concerns delicate fabrics or fabrics which must be washed at high temperature. Then, he engages the main switch 4 to carry out the washing proper and introduces the necessary cleaning products into the tank.
The shape and arrangement of the cam 15 are such that when the machine is restarted for clean washing. Said, this cam maintains contact 16 open, thus preparing the switching off of the motor circuit of the combiner. On the other hand, if the switch 7 has been placed on the contact 9, the lever 19 is in the 19 "position and the auxiliary relay 18 being energized, the circuit of the motor 6 of the combiner is also cut at 17: the motor 6 of the combiner stops. As soon as the operator has operated the main switch -1, the entire washing process: washing, multiple rinses, multiple spins takes place automatically until the complete stop , also automatic.
Immediately after having operated the main switch q, the operator placed the switch 7 in the 9-19 "position shown in 19 in continuous lines; the water contained in the machine gradually heats up to reach 90. At this moment , the thermostat 9 leaves its contact and cuts the circuit of relay 3, as well as that of the auxiliary relay 18 which releases its armature, so that the reset contact 17 closes. The combination circuit is thus reestablished by 17. -19 ". The combiner motor automatically starts up again, so that the vage operation is carried out from then on at high temperature and for a period determined by the development of the normal cam.
If, during this washing, the temperature drops appreciably below 90, thermostat 9 would close its contact again, again causing relay 3 to be energized and contact 17 to switch off, thus stopping engine 6. As soon as the temperature reaches 90 again, the circuit of the motor 6 of the combiner will automatically be restored as before. Ultimately, the actual duration of the wash would be. therefore increased by the time necessary to bring the water back to 90, if it happens that this water cools appreciably below 90 after the first cut of the eircuit. relay 3 by the thermostat. 9.
At the end of the washing period at. high temperature, the special cam 15 drops the contact 16 which closes the circuit of the motor 6 of the combiner.
Although the. The machine described comprises an electric heating body, the invention also encompasses an embodiment comprising non-electric heating means, for example gas burners. The ignition and extinction of these burners would be controlled by relay 3.
