Dye preparation. The subject of the present invention forms. a new, permanent dye preparation. This is characterized by the content of a difficultly soluble complex metal compound of a substantive azo dye, as well as a solid, water-soluble aliphatic base free of acidic groups,
which contains at least one hydroxyl group and which brings about the solubility of the complex metal compound.
The metal complexes that are visually soluble in water can be metals with atomic numbers from 4 to 30, but in particular nickel. and mainly contain copper in a complex bond. Particularly valuable preparations are obtained finitely from those copper-containing azo dyes which, in the metal-free state, are still soluble in water and suitable for dyeing cellulose-containing materials, but which, as copper compounds, are sparingly soluble in water and, as a result of this egg, are poorly suited for dyeing.
are, at least if one disregards dyeing from suspension, which method usually gives unsatisfactory results. In the present case, those complex metal compounds which give colloidal solutions in water are also considered sparingly soluble. Experience has shown that these metal compounds are also unsuitable per se because of their very poor drawability.
The water-soluble dyes used in the preparations zti can, for. B. be metal complexes of dyes with o-oxyearboxylic acid groups, -as they are present, among other things, in saliei-oleic acid. Furthermore, in this connection there are also metal complexes of dyes with the atom group
EMI0001.0039
mention zti.
Among other things, metal compounds of o, o'-dioxyazo dyes, that is of dyes containing the atomic grouping, prove to be particularly advantageous
EMI0001.0046
contain. Even among the metal compounds of o, o'-dioxy azo dyes, the copper compounds alone are valuable. These contain at least once the atom grouping in a molecule, which is usually represented by the formula
EMI0001.0053
is shown.
You can use the atom group z. B. included twice and in the following form
EMI0002.0001
The copper compounds of this composition, which are sparingly soluble to insoluble in water, can be prepared from the corresponding metal-free azo dyes h, which contain the atomic grouping, according to customary methods, in particular known for the production of water-soluble copper compounds, by treatment with copper-releasing agents
EMI0002.0005
contain.
In the case of azo dyes with the last-mentioned grouping, the treatment with copper-releasing agents must be carried out in such a way that the copper complex is formed with splitting of the -0-alkyl group. In some cases, this is also possible with dyes which provide poorly soluble copper compounds by heating them with copper tetramine compounds of ammonia in an alkaline medium for a prolonged period. However, the application of the method of Swiss patent specification No. 261365 (Case 23951E) is particularly useful here.
In general, it is advisable to use the complex metal compounds for the dye preparations in such a state or to produce them in such a way that their ionogenic salt-forming groups, i.e. in particular sulfonic acid and carboxyl groups (if the latter do not form a complex are included), as metal salts, e.g. B. alkali metal salts, and not as free acid groups or ammonium salts.
In addition to the complex metal compound of a substantive azo dye, the perfume preparations of the present invention contain an aliphatic base. This base is solid, that is, its melting point is above the temperatures at which the preparations are usually stored; so he is z. B. higher than 40 C.
The base is also water-soluble and free from acidic groups such as sulfonic acid groups and carboxyl groups; against it contains. they have at least one hydroxyl group. Particularly suitable bases are those whose hydroxyl groups are separated from the basic stick material atoms by two carbon atoms, eg.
B. those of the composition

where R is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group with at most three carbon atoms or an oxymethyl group, R. is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and n is an integer of at most 4, but preferably 2.
The bases of the following composition may be mentioned as examples

EMI0003.0001
Particularly valuable preparations are made with your 1,2-di- (ss-oxyäthylamino) ethane of the formula

receive. These bases can e.g. B. analogous to that in the German patent. No. 635904 described manner by condensation of oxyalkylamines with dihaloalkylenes.
The mixing ratio between the complex metal compound and the organic base is advantageously chosen in the paraffin preparations so that there is a considerable excess of the base. In other words, several base molecules are present on an atom complexed metal, z. B. more than two or an even greater number.
The dye preparations are expediently produced by mixing the individual required components in a dry state. Other substances such as urea or water-soluble carbohydrates, e.g. sucrose, can also be added to the preparations. On the other hand, it is generally less advisable to add electrolytes such as sodium sulfate or sodium chloride in large quantities.
The new paraffin preparations are constantly and adequately stored. They are particularly suitable for dyeing materials containing cellulose, such as linen, cotton and rayon or rayon made from regenerated cellulose. These preparations make it possible to produce substantive azo dyes whose metal complexes are poorly soluble in water and which are therefore unsuitable for dyeing as complex metal compounds, which is why they are usually used in a metal-free state and only when they are at least largely fixed on the fiber into which metal compounds are transferred,
Dye directly in a one-bath and one-step process as complex metal compounds on cellulose-containing fibers without adding any other substances to the dye bath apart from the auxiliaries commonly used in direct dyeing processes such as sodium sulfate and / or sodium carbonate.
The liquor ratio, that is to say the ratio of the amount of material to be colored to the amount of coloring liquid, can be varied within wide limits and can largely be adapted to the requirements of practice. If desired, as is generally the case in practice, concentrated solutions, so-called stock solutions, can be produced with the preparations before the dye baths are prepared and these can then be diluted to the larger volume required for dyeing.
With the new paraffin preparations, dyeings are generally obtained in this way that are at least equivalent in terms of color strength, purity of the shade and fastness properties to those dyeings or, in some cases, even surpass them, which are obtained when one receives a corresponding amount of Colors free of metals and bases by the post-metallization process.
In certain cases, it may still be of advantage to sew the dyeings obtainable after the present process with agents that increase their wet fastness properties. This after-treatment can also take place in the presence of copper-releasing agents. The following can be mentioned as products that improve the wet fastness of dyeings: The products of formaldehyde on compounds such as cyanamide, dicyandiamide, dicyandiamidine, melamine, etc.
Post-treatment agents in which no formaldehyde is used in their production are also suitable. The use of post-treatment agents containing copper is particularly recommended if there are indications that more or less extensive copper removal has taken place during the dyeing process. In the following examples, parts mean parts by weight, percentages mean percentages by weight, and temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Wherever the production of dyebaths and stock solutions is described, so-called condensation water (distilled water obtained from operating steam) should always be used as water.
Example 1: 2 parts of 1,2-di- (ss-oxyäthylamino) -ethane are mixed with 1 part of the copper compound of the dye, which can be obtained by phosgenating 1 mole of 4-amino-4'- oxy-3'-carboxy-l-1'-azobenzene and 1 mol of the condensation product of 4-amino-2-methyl-5 methoxy-4'-oxy-3'-carboxy-1, reduced to the amine on the nitro group,
1'-azobenzene-5'-sulphonic acid with 4-nitrobenzoylehloride is obtained.
With this dye preparation, cotton z. B. be colored as follows: 3 parts of the dye preparation are poured with 200 parts of hot water and boiled. A dye bath is prepared from the sodium solution obtained by diluting it with water to 3000 parts by volume and adding 2 parts of anhydrous sodium carbonate, in which; at about 60 cotton pre-wetted with 100 parts. Within.
?% Hour increases. the temperature is brought to the boil and is kept at the boiling temperature for 1 hour, 20 parts of crystallized sodium sulfate being added after 5 minutes and after 20 minutes of boiling.
After rinsing and drying the cotton, the result is a yellow coloration of good lightfastness and very good washfastness. Example ;?: Mix equal parts 1,2-di- (ss-oxy- äthylamino) -ethane and copper compound of the dye,
which is obtained as follows 1 mol of the monoazo dye from diazo-tated 1-amino-4-oxy-5-carboxybenzene and 1-aminonaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid is diazotized and combined with 1 mol of 1-aminonaphthalene. The amino compound obtained is diazotized again and coupled to 1 mol of 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid in an alkaline medium.
With this dye preparation, cotton z. B. be colored as follows: 2 parts of the dye preparation are poured with 200 parts of water and boiled. A dye bath is prepared from this stock solution by diluting it to 3000 parts by volume and adding 2 parts of anhydrous sodium carbonate. 100 parts pre-wetted cotton. Increases within? 4 hours.
the temperature is brought to the boil and is kept at the boiling temperature for 1 hour, with 20 parts of crystallized sodium sulfate being added each time after 5 minutes and after boiling for 20 minutes. The dyeing is rinsed with cold water, advantageously adding 1 part of the condensation product to the last rinse bath, which is obtained when dicyandiamidine is heated to 1.00 for about 10 minutes with four times the amount of 30% technical formaldehyde,

The result is a blue coloration of excellent light and wash fastness. Example 3: Equal parts of 1,2-di- (ss-oxy-ethylamino) -ethane and the copper compound of the dye are mixed, which is obtained as follows:
1 mol of 1- (4 (-amino-1,1'-diphenyl-4) -3-methyl-pyrazolone- (5) is converted with phosgene into the symmetrical urea derivative and this with 1 mol of diazotized 1-amino-2 - carboxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid coupled With this paraffin preparation, cotton can be dyed as follows: 3 parts of the dye preparation are poured over 200 parts of hot water and boiled.
A dyebath is prepared from the stock solution obtained by diluting it with water to 3000 parts by volume and adding 2 parts of anhydrous sodium carbonate, which is entered at about 60 with 100 parts of pre-wetted cotton. The temperature is raised to boiling within 1% of 1 hour and kept at boiling temperature for one hour, 20 parts of crystallized sodium sulfate being added after 5 minutes and after 20 minutes.
After rinsing and drying the cotton, the result is a yellow color with good lightness and water resistance. Example 2 parts of 1,2-di- (ss-oxyethyl-amino) -ethane, 3 parts of saecharose and 1st part of the copper compound of the dye from 1st mole of tetrazotized 4,4'-diamino are mixed -3,3'-dioxy-1,1'-diphenyl and 2 moles of 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid.
With this dye preparation, cotton z. B. as follows. To be colored: 200 parts of water are poured over 2 parts of the dye preparation and boiled. The stock solution obtained is used to prepare a dyebath by diluting it with 2800 parts of water and adding 2 parts of anhydrous sodium carbonate, which is entered at about 60 with 100 parts of pre-wetted cotton. Inside? ' Hour increases. the temperature is brought to the boil and is kept at the boiling temperature for 1 hour, 20 parts of crystallized sodium sulfate being added after 5 minutes and after 20 minutes.
After the cotton has been rinsed and dried, it is blue in color, with excellent light and wash fastness.
The staining can be done before drying. in a liquor ratio of 1:30 for 1 hour at ordinary temperature with 4% of a preparation containing, per 100 g, about 32 parts of a condensation product of dicyandia.midine and formaldehyde, 11 parts of copper acetate, 31 parts of sodium carbonate and 18 parts Ammonium chloride. The dyeing treated in this way shows an even higher wash fastness.
Example 5: 2 parts of 1,2-di- (ss-oxyethyl-amino) -ethane are mixed with 1 part of the copper compound of a dye which can be obtained by careful reduction with glucose in an alkaline medium Disazo dye of the following constitution receives
