Le bruit provoqué par l'échappement de la vapeur avertit qu'une pression donnée est atteinte dans 1a marmite, Si la quantité de chaleur fournie à la mar mite est très grande, la pression de la vapeur peut atteindre une valeur telle qu'elle peut provoquer la sortie de la rondelle 8 par l'ou verture 11;
Pressure cooker. The present invention relates to a pressure cooker comprising a container. and a cover.
It is characterized in that the upper edge of the container has a flange directed inwards, in that the edge of the cover also has a flange, said cover being dimensioned so that it can be introduced freely into the opening formed by the flange of the receptacle, and in that it comprises an elastic seal intended to be introduced between the flange of the receptacle and that of the cover, after the latter has been placed on a shoulder presented by the upper edge laughter of the container.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the pot which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view with partial section of the pot.
Fig. 2 shows a section through the elastic ring.
Fig. 3 shows, on a larger scale, a detail of the container and the cover.
The container 1, of circular cross section, has at its upper edge a flange 2 of annular shape and facing inward. Between said flange and a flange 3 of the cover 4 is housed a resilient ring-shaped seal 5 which may be of synthetic rubber or of another similar resilient material.
The internal diameter of the flange 2 is slightly greater than the external diameter of the flange 3, so that the cover can be introduced freely through the opening limited by the flange 2 and can be placed on a shoulder 6 present. the top edge of the container wall. After placing the cover on the container, the gasket 5 is housed between the flanges 2 and 3.
The seal is shown on its own in fig. 2. The ring is flat, of rectangular cross section and has a tongue 7 directed inwards, which serves to remove the seal from the pot. As shown in fig. 1 and 3, the seal, when mounted in the pot, does not have any shape. flat, because of the taper of the flange faces. The gasket, tending to regain its flat shape, ensures the tightness of the cover, even if its thickness is smaller than the distance between the flanges.
When the pressure increases in the pot, the ring is compressed as shown in fig. 3, and the sealing effect increases at the same time as the frictional forces exerted between the flanges and the ring. To limit the pressure during cooking, the lid is fitted with a safety valve. This valve comprises a rubber washer having an orifice 9, this washer being pressed against the edge of an orifice 11 which the cover has, using a caliper 10.
This caliper has a flange 16, by which it is fixed to the cover and, at its center, a boss 12 intended to close the hole 9 of the washer 8. The latter is thus compressed and curved to close the hole 11 of the cover. . As the pressure increases in the pot, the washer 8 curves more and more until the steam can escape through the orifice 9.
The noise caused by escaping steam warns that a certain pressure is reached in the pot. If the amount of heat supplied to the pot is very large, the pressure of the steam may reach a value such that it can cause the washer 8 to exit through the opening 11;
the latter is then completely free and damage to the pot is thus avoided.
According to fig. 1, the cover is provided with a handle 13 and the receptacle with two handles 14, made of heat-insulating material. The handles 14 are fixed to the container by means of a metal flange 15. To resist the deformation to which it is subjected when it is mounted between the flanges, the seal may be provided with a core formed of a relatively hard material, for example a metal.
This core may have any cross section provided that it is capable of absorbing most of the pressure produced, and that the seal retains its flexibility, so that it can be inserted and withdrawn between the flanges.
