Electric power plant for driving a vehicle. The invention relates to an elec tric power plant for driving a vehicle. The same has a power source for a DC motor with secondary circuit field winding, a clutch that transmits the motor drive and which can slide when the vehicle is started, and a starter control switch which includes field strength regulating means.
Shunt motors have the advantage that3 their speed can easily be changed over a large range by controlling the field balance and that3 they have an upper speed limit, which is exceeded in the event of underload. In addition, if a bypass motor is fed by a storage battery, it is possible to use the motor as a dynamo for recharging the battery. If z. B. a shunt motor is used as a traction motor of a vehicle, the motor can be used as a brake when the vehicle is stopped or downhill, and it can be recharged the battery, which is otherwise used to power the motor.
The system according to the invention is characterized in that the start-up control switch is designed in such a way that when it is started it first moves into a position in which the motor is connected to the power source at maximum field strength, and secondly causes 3 the clutch is engaged and transmits the drive and, thirdly, that after the clutch has been engaged, the field strength regulating means can be operated.
Several exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in the accompanying drawing, in which FIG. 1 shows the circuit diagram of a simplified embodiment, FIG. 2 shows the schematic diagram of an embodiment with additional means for charging an accumulator battery, and FIG. 3 shows the circuit diagram of another Embodiment with relay operated reversing switches shows.
The circuit diagram shown in FIG. 1 has a vehicle drive motor 11 which is operated by two batteries 12, 13 which are connected in series with one another and with a fuse 14 between them with the motor via a negative line 15 and a positive line 16 are. The control apparatus. lying. in the positive lead between the battery and your engine.
A main contactor A is provided for closing the motor armature circuit, which contactor has a main actuation coil 17 and contacts 18, 19 which are closed when the actuation coil 17 is energized. The actuating coil 17 is connected to the negative pole of the battery via a line 20 and the positive pole via a switch 21 and line 22 actuated by a button. Thus, the main contactor cannot be closed unless the button-operated switch 21 is closed.
Even when the button-operated switch 21 is closed, the motor circuit is not immediately closed by the contactor, because a second pair of switching contacts 23 are arranged in series with the switch 21, which contacts 23 can be connected by means of a bridge connected to an arm 24 a speed control switch is connected. The first action of the speed control switch as it moves is to close contacts 23 and start the engine. The main contactor A also has a series winding 25, which strives to keep the con tacts 18, 19 closed when the motor 11 receives a strong current.
The purpose of the winding 25 is to prevent the contactor contacts 18, 19 from opening, except when the motor is underloaded, and thus to prevent these contacts from being unduly disconnected.
The motor 11 has a shunt field winding 26 which is connected via a reversing switch 27 on the one hand to a negative line 28 leading to the battery and on the other hand to a positive line 29 which was connected to a regulating resistor 30. The speed control arm 24 operates through the regulator resistor 30 and is used to determine how much resistance is in series with the shunt field winding 26. The arm 24 is connected to the positive lead by a line 31.
At a tap of the resistor 30 there is a connection 32 to a contact 33 of an electromagnetically actuated th switch B, which has an actuating winding 34 in series with the armature of the motor 11. The effect of the winding 34 be is to press the contact 33 against a con tact 35 which is connected to the positive line leading to the motor. Therefore, when the switch B is operated, the part of the control resistor 30 which lies between the line 32 and the point on the resistor to which the arm 24 was brought, short-circuited. As a result, the current in the secondary field winding 26 is increased and the current that is absorbed by the motor armature 11 is reduced.
Given the appropriate measurement of the series winding 34, this will have the effect that the contacts 33, 35 will be interrupted and that the shunt fault current through the field winding 26 will be reduced again. As a result, the motor current will increase again and the contacts 33, 35 who actuated the again .. This alternating closing and opening of the contacts 33, 35 strives to keep the motor current fluctuating at a value which between the Einah-. and waste streams of the electromagnetically operated Sehalters is.
The motor 11 has a pair of slip rings 36, 37 which are connected to a winding 38 of an electromagnetically operated clutch, which is arranged on the motor shaft between the motor and its load. The slip rings 36, 37 receive current from two lines 39, 40, one of which is connected to the same point of the resistor 30 as the line 32 to which the contact. 33 is connected, while .die other line is connected to a point 41 at the end of the resistor 30.
It is. it should be noted that the point 41 is located slightly outside the point 42 to which the line 29 of the shunt field is connected. As a result of this, when the speed control arm 24 is first brought into contact with the resistor 30, a small amount of the resistor 30 between the point 41 and the point 42 is switched on. in which a corresponding voltage drop occurs: where point 41 is positive relative to point 42. It follows that line 39 connected to clutch winding 38 will be positive relative to line 40.
If, when starting the engine, the arm 24 is moved against the point 42 on the resistor, it will increase the potential of the line 40, while the potential of the line 39 is lowered. As a result, the clutch current is decreased and as the arm 24 is moved closer to the line 32, the line 40 becomes more positive relative to the line 39 and the current in the clutch winding 38 is reversed. The coupling is arranged in such a way that it closes with this reverse current.
The original current impressed on the coupling when line 39 is positive relative to line 40 is used as a weak demagnetizing current and serves to ensure that the coupling is securely open, i.e. H. is disengaged when the engine is started first.
The motor field is saturated when the arm 24 is at point 41 and this is the best condition for starting. The motor starts with no load and when its field is fully excited it will run at minimum speed. When the arm 24 is moved along the resistor 30 against the line 32, the clutch is closed with increasing force and the motor is loaded. Thus, the engine starts with no load, but is gradually loaded by the clutch, which allows controlled slip. If the arm 24 is now moved further past the line 32 along the resistor 30, it begins to bring sufficient resistance in series with the secondary circuit 26 in order to increase the speed of the motor.
If the motor 11 is connected to a tensile load via the coupling 38, the higher speed ranges are only reached with loads on a straight line or a slight incline and under such conditions the Sehalter B is not put into operation. If, however, the glass vehicle on which the control is installed has an increased incline, which increases the load on the motor above the level at which the switch R switches on, the effect is that the switch B as described, temporarily or even is permanently closed and that the motor speed is reduced, while its torque (same as a series-wound motor) is increased.
This means that the vehicle driver cannot overload the engine by setting the control to too high a speed, even though a bypass field control is available.
When the vehicle is going down an incline, since the motor is shunted, it will act as a regenerative brake and charge the battery, which will limit the maximum vehicle speed.
The reversing switch 27 is in series with a winding 45. The purpose of the winding 45 is to actuate a mechanical locking device for the reversing switch so that it cannot be switched when the field winding 26 is energized. The mechanical arrangement of such a locking device is known per se and need not be described further here. The engine 11 is with. Reversing poles 46 provided to support the commutation, but otherwise has no series winding.
Fig. 2 shows a circuit which is essentially the same as Fig. 1, except that additional provisions are made by which, when the motor 11 is properly driven, it is used for charging the batteries can. Most of the parts of FIG. 2 are the same as those shown in FIG. 1 and are denoted by the same numbers in the drawing.
It is therefore sufficient to refer the description to the parts of the figure. which see from Fi. 7. distinguish.
If the motor 11 is used as a regenerative brake or as a generator for charging the battery, it is undesirable that the electromagnetic operated switch B is operated, and this switch is therefore shown in FIG. shown in such a way that it is provided with an additional magnetic winding 47 on the same core as the winding 34, before it serves to polarize the switch 1 :.
The winding 47 is connected by a line 48 to the positive line of the motor circuit and by a line 49 to the negative line 15, so that as long as the contactor A keeps the contacts 18, 19 closed, the winding 47 is energized. This excitation is not sufficient in itself to close the contacts 33, 35; however, when the motor 11 is drawing power from the battery, winding 34 is assisted by winding 47 to operate the contacts. On the other hand, when the motor is charging the battery, the current in winding 34 is reversed, and it is counteracted by winding the current in winding 47 so that contacts 33, 35 are connected to any normal current that occurs during charging of the Mo gate 11 is supplied, cannot be operated.
A charging current control relay c is seen in front of which a shunt winding 50, which like the winding 47 is constantly excited in operation, a series winding 51 in series with the windings 25 and 34 and normally closed contacts 52, 53, which are opened when the charging current to the battery exceeds a predetermined value. The contacts 52, 53 are used, when they are closed, to short the counter stand 30 by means of lines 54, 55; However, if they are open, they bring the resistor 30 in series with the shunt field winding 26 of the motor 11, whereby the current strength and the size of the charging current is reduced.
In operation, these contacts vibrate as the contacts 33, 35 vibrate, but only when the current is flowing in the charging direction, where the contacts 33, 35 only vibrate when the current is flowing in the discharging direction. The contacts 52, 53 can be short-circuited by bridging a pair of contacts 56 by means of a bridge piece 57.
The bridge piece 57 is arranged on a control rod 58, which also carries a bridge piece 59 for the connection of contacts 60 which lie in the line 40 which runs to the coupling winding 38. Furthermore, the control rod 58 carries a bridge piece 61 in order to close contacts 62 in a line 63, which can short-circuit the push button switch 21 and the switch 23 which normally actuates the main contactor winding 17. When the control rod 58 is moved to the right, as shown in the drawing, the contacts 62 are open, the contacts 52, 53 are short-circuited and the coupling circuit 40 is closed. This is the condition for normal running of the motor 11, which draws its power from the battery.
When the control rod 58 is moved to the left, the contacts 56 and 60 are open and the contacts 62 closed. This brings the contacts 52, 53 into operation, prevents the engagement of the clutch 38 and causes the contacts 18, 19 to remain closed regardless of the position of the push button switch 21 or the speed controller 24, which is connected to the contacts 23. This is the location of the parts for using the motor 11 as a dynamo to charge the battery.
A single phase squirrel cage motor 64 is. provided on the vehicle, the connec tions 65,166 has to a plug, which, if desired, by means of a bendable wire with. can be connected to a main feed line. Two bridging parts 67, 68 are provided on the control rod 58 and if so. these are pulled to the left into the battery charging position, they close the contacts 69 and 70, wel che switch on the motor 64 in the circuit.
Since the clutch circuit 38 is interrupted at 60, the motor 11 is disconnected from the vehicle wheels and is driven by the motor 64 as a dynamo in order to charge the battery. On the single-phase squirrel cage motor 64, no starting winding is required because it is started by the DC motor 11 as soon as the con tacts 18, 19 close, the motor 11 drawing power from the battery for this purpose.
Instead of connecting the line 39 of the coupling circuit to one end of the resistor 30, as in the example described in conjunction with Fig. 1, this line is via a variable counter-71 and line 72 to the negative device 15 Lei. The line 40 goes as before to an intermediate point of the counter stand 30 and the reversing switch 27, instead of being connected by the line to the point 42 in FIG. 1, is connected to the end point 73. The clutch winding 38 is connected to earth at 74, and a second clutch winding 75 is connected between the slip ring 37 and the frame of the vehicle.
The second winding 75 of the clutch acts as a demagnetizing winding; it is necessary because the field current of the motor 11 is variable when it is working as a generator, and branching off the demagnetizing voltage from the end of the resistor 30, as in FIG. 1, would be impractical. The winding 75 is wound in such a way that it counteracts the main coupling winding 38 and the value of the current is regulated by the variable resistor 71 so that it is sufficient to demagnetize the coupling when the winding 38 is out of order is set.
FIG. 3 shows a further embodiment which comprises the parts shown in FIG. 2, in which the reversing switch is actuated by relay coils 80, 81. Insofar as the parts shown in Fig. 3 are the lead like those shown in Fig. 2 and work the same, they are provided in Fig. 3 with the lead reference numerals and a white direct description of these parts is not not agile. It should be noted, however, that the contacts 18, 19 of the main contactor are connected to one pole of the battery and the series coil 25 to the opposite pole, instead of these two parts being connected in a line of the same polarity. This difference is insignificant from the point of view of the mode of action.
To switch on the relay coils 80, 81, a double selector switch 82 is provided, which is connected to the battery line 16 by a line 83 and the contacts 21 and 23. The selector switch 82 therefore applies battery voltage to one or the other of the two lines 84, 85, one of which is selected for operating the motor in one direction and the other for the reverse direction. If the circuit connected to the line 84 is considered first, it can be seen that the water leads to contacts 86 which are controlled by the relay winding 80, then to a contact 87 which is controlled by the relay winding 8l.
All of these contacts are normally closed and therefore actuation of selector switch 82 to energize line 84 will energize relay winding 80. The effect is to bring the movable contact at 86 into contact with contact 89, which receives power from the battery through contacts 18, 19, provided that the contactor <1 is closed. Contact 89 is arranged to close before contact 86 is broken and relay winding 80 will therefore hold itself. In order to prevent a momentary short circuit of the contacts 18, 19, a resistor 90 is provided in the circuit.
The Erre-tui; y of the relay winding 80 also brings a movable contact 91 into contact with a contact 92 and thereby connects the secondary fault circuit 26 by means of a line 93 with the line 16. The other end of the secondary fault circuit is by means of line 94 and contacts 95 with it the resistor 30 and then connected to the other pole of the battery.
The operator should now turn the selector holder 82 so that it takes place on the line 85. the line 8.1 is, the effect is to connect the battery power via line 85 to the contacts 96, which are controlled by the relay winding 81, but the relay winding 81 is not energized because its circuit at the contacts 97 is interrupted as a result is that the relay winding 80 is already energized.
The motor will therefore continue to run in the same direction, and even if the operator breaks the control circuit at contacts 23, relay 80 will not drop out until the back electromotive force of Mo sector 11 falls below the holding voltage of relay 80 is. The circuit across contact 97 is completed when relay 80 drops out, so that when the motor is restarted, coil 81 is energized, contacts 96, 99 through resistor 100 in the same way as contacts 86, 89 operated via resistor 90 and a circuit to the shunt winding from line 16 via lines 101, 102 to contact 103 and then via contact 95 and line 94 to shunt winding 26 is established.
The other end of the winding 26 is connected to the resistor 30 via line 93 and con tact 91, which is now closed at the bottom. Thus, the current will flow through the bypass winding in the opposite direction than it did before. The relays are also arranged in such a way that they actuate contacts 104, 105 which are connected in parallel to one another, but in series with the actuating coil 17 of the main contactor A via lines 106, 107. Whichever of the relay windings 80 or 81 it is excited, the actuating coil 17 is excited by the closure of any one of the contacts 104 or 105. This sequence of operations ensures that current cannot be forced onto the motor armature until the field circuit has been completed.
However, the actuation coil is switched off when the engine is stopped, so that no energy loss occurs.
A resistor 108 is provided in series with the coils 47, 50 of the holder 34 and 51. The purpose of this resistor is that a wire can be used for the resistor which cannot be significantly influenced by changes in temperature and therefore to ensure that the windings of the coils 47, 50 work at the same current values after the apparatus has been used and warmed up for some time, as they do when it is cold.
The advantages of using a magnetic coupling in the manner shown in the diagrams on a traction drive are 1. By decoupling the motor from the wheels, the motor can be used as a battery charging generator.
2. By decoupling the motor from the wheels. the motor can be used as an auxiliary drive.
3. It is guaranteed that no mechanical stress is exerted on the motor when the main contactor opens, so that no arcing is possible due to high load currents.
4. Gentle starting without steps is guaranteed.
5. Reliable overload / slip adjustment is provided.
