Process for the production of a peeh spreading mass. The present invention relates to a method for producing a pitch streichniasse which is suitable, for example, for cementing floors and also for producing entire floor coverings.
The use of asphalt coating compounds for the production of floors is known. Asphalt coating compounds, however, have the disadvantage that any fat or oil that is poured onto such a floor or used, for example, for polishing, has a dissolving effect on the asphalt.
The use of high-temperature pitch for the generation of pitch coatings is also known. Pitch spreading compounds, which are produced using pitch obtained by a distillation process at high temperature, are probably resistant to fat and oil, but have the disadvantage that, due to their high carbon content, they are not: pigmented enough However, black is a color that is not suitable for home and business premises.
It has become known from British Patent No. 565705 that the use of a coal tar pitch which has a low free carbon content makes it possible to pigment the pitch coating. and in this way for puttying. to make the floors of living and business premises usable. Such a floor is actually resistant to fats and oils which are poured on it or with which it is treated, for example for the purpose of polishing.
It is also customary in the production of known coating slips for cementing floors to add coarse-grained and fine-grained constituents to the coating mass and advantageously an absorbent filler material together with pigment. The method according to the invention provides for the use of such coarse-grained and fine-grained constituents. It is also expedient to use absorbent filler materials together with pigments.
Substances of this type can be added to the Peehstreich mass in per se known Men, for example in the British Standard Institution regarding regulations for colored pitch putty floors, No. 1375, 1945, he mentioned.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that a coarse-grained and a fine-grained material are mixed in a heated state with coal tar pitch to which a liquefying oily substance that does not develop any harmful, irritating or otherwise objectionable vapors when heated has been added .
The liquefying agent can, for example, be a coal tar derivative, for example anthracene, that is to say a material that is suitable for liquefaction and that makes it possible to give your material the right consistency for laying.
When producing and laying such pitch coating compounds, it is advisable to keep the temperature at a critical temperature at which the liquefying agent or other added substances produce harmful, irritating or otherwise objectionable vapors which are dangerous or hazardous to the worker laying the floor could be disruptive, develop, approach without reaching them. The known coating slips suffer from the disadvantage that when using certain coal tar oils which contain tar acids,
when heated above a certain critical temperature, which must be used when processing and using the pitch coating, irritating vapors are emitted. The development of such irritating fumes has been one of the major drawbacks of the pitch coatings currently known.
The present invention aims, inter alia, to avoid the development of harmful or otherwise objectionable vapors at any temperature, and in particular at the temperature at which the pitch coating is processed, both during its manufacture and when laying the floors so that it can be said that the pitch coating can be used properly at any temperature to which it has to be brought.
According to the invention, a liquefying agent for admixture with the pitch coating, which is intended for the production of floors and the like, is provided, which consists of an oily substance which does not develop any harmful or irritating vapors when heated.
Such a liquefying agent can consist, for example, of an oil which is obtained in such a way that a middle oil fraction is separated from a tar, which comes from a coking process carried out at low temperature, and the oil from the latter, which oil, for example, is separated in a known manner can be refined by washing to remove the acids and bases and subsequent distillation, or it can be a petroleum derivative, such as a mixture of aromatic constituents separated from a petroleum oil by a dissolution process,
which finite coal tar pitch can be mixed, act.
Such liquefying agents are very suitable to be mixed with pitch without the formation of a precipitate of solid constituents, and they are free of those substances which, when heated to the temperature required for processing, could be the reason for the formation of harmful or irritating vapors.
Furthermore, a filling material made of wood, preferably in the form of sawdust, sand or the like, can be added to the pitch coating material for the purpose of increasing the volume and also for the purpose of improving it while reducing production costs, which simultaneously serves to increase the thermal insulation capacity of the floor. The wood used must be of such a quality that no harmful or irritating vapors are formed when the pitch coating is heated for processing. Resin-free hardwood with a low moisture content is suitable. Such filling material can be added up to <B> 500 /, </B> of the weight of the pitch coating.
The physical properties of a pitch and liquefying oil obtained from the middle oil fraction of the tar resulting from coking or distillation of coal at low temperature and the binder formed by mixing the pitch and oily substance are shown in Table 1 below evident.

<SEP> <B> 2150 </B> <SEP> C The physical properties mentioned in column I of table 2 relate to a pitch which has been prepared by bubbling steam through soft pitch at a temperature of not more than 350.degree or by the fact that in the normal distillation of coal tar, the duration of the flow of water vapor was extended, since otherwise medium-soft pitch would result. The physical properties of a pitch, which was a residue from the distillation of tar, which is a by-product of the coking of coal at low temperature,
ge is obtained are listed in column II of Table 2.
By using liquefying oils of the type just mentioned, the smoothness of the pitch coating is increased and the likelihood of subsequent cracking and brittleness is reduced.
An example of a liquefying oil derived from petroleum has the following physical properties: Distillate at 345 ° C <B> 3.5 </B> Sample for volatility: Percentage loss at <B> 163 '</B> C. 0.601 / 0 According to an embodiment of the method according to the invention, the middle oil fraction can be refined in the production of a liquefaction oil which is an oil originating from a middle oil fraction of tar which was obtained by coking or distillation of coal at low temperature and first with NaOH of 30 Tw,
washed in a ratio of three parts oil to five parts NaOH to remove the tar acid. The sodium salts of tar acids, such as the sodium salts of cresols, are then separated from the washed oil, which can then be referred to as washed middle oil.
The well-clarified, washed oil can then be subjected to a chemical refining process according to the following treatments: I: washing with 3 vol., 40% H2604, II: washing with 11 g2 vol., Ö 80% H 'S04; III: washing with water to remove most of the free acid; IV: washing with 30% NaOH solution to neutralize free acid; V:
Wash with 4% by volume of <B> 60 '</B> Tw. NaOH. The oil resulting from this treatment can then be distilled in vacuo, the distillation being carried out under a vacuum of 28-29 mm Hg and at a temperature between 190 ° C. at the beginning and 225 ° C. at the end.
In this way approximately 8517 7 of the distillate are removed, and the remaining product, which has a boiling range above 300 C and an average boiling point of not below 345 C, is the liquefaction material which is added to the pitch coating.
One of the main results of the above refining treatment and distillation of the liquefying oil is the complete freedom of the liquefying oil from tar acids and bases.
Typical examples of liquefaction oils, which come from a middle oil fraction of a carbonization process at low temperatures, have the following physical properties: Distillate at 345 ° C 15-40% volatility sample:
Percentage loss at 163 C. 3,6: o The fine-grained and coarse-grained admixture as well as the absorbent filler material, which are used in the production of the wet pitch, can be of the type in War Emergency British Standard Specification <B> 1375 </ B >: 1947 and British Standard Specification 1410: 1947, and for example consist of sand and resinless wood with a low moisture content.
They can be used in the production of the pitch coating slip in the proportions and under the conditions that are assumed in the publications mentioned.
The composition of a typical pitch litter produced by the process is the following coal tar pitch, produced by distillation at low temperature. . 1. <B> 2.7 </B>% by weight liquefying oil 1.3 pigment. :>, 0 Coarse-grained material with a grain size of, for example, 3 mm, for example granite sand. . 15.0 Fine sand. 66.0 However, the pitch coating can also have a considerably different composition. For example, depending on the desired color and quality, the amount of pigment added can be 4-120 / of the finished pitch coating. Also the proportion.
the fillers can be changed significantly, both in terms of quantity and in terms of grain size, according to the requirements that the floor should meet. The amount of liquefying oil which is usually used is between 1-3 .ö of the finished pitch coating, the liquefying oil being added in a ratio corresponding to the intended use of the pitch coating.
During production, the binding agent, which is liquefied coal tar pitch, is thoroughly mixed with the other components of the product at a temperature that does not exceed 160 C until the correct consistency, the binding agent being 10-0.0 of the finished product . The mixture is poured into blocks, which are melted again on the spot after being crushed in mechanically operated mixers. Before laying, the mixture is brought to a temperature not exceeding 160 C and applied by hand to the floor to be covered, after the underlay has previously been cleaned and prepared in a known manner.
The floors to which the pitch coating was applied should not be used until the pitch coating has cooled to the ambient temperature.
Floors that have been produced by means of a material according to the invention can be treated with the customary flooring agents and polishes that are in the possession of the users and which contain petroleum derivatives, without the risk that the drill or polish will have a dissolving effect the pitch spread, and any oils or fats that were thrown on the ground. can be removed without any dissolving effect on the floor covering.
Furthermore, with regard to the nature of the liquefying oil, there is no danger of developing irritating or harmful vapors, even if the critical temperature of 160 ° C. is exceeded. This makes laying the floors, which previously required a working temperature that was as close as possible to the critical temperature, but which was not allowed to exceed the same, is made considerably easier.
