Process for the preparation of 4-amino-2-oxy-benzoic acid. It has been found that 4-amino-2-oxybenzoic acid can be prepared by heating m-aminophenol together with an alkali metal carbonate in the presence of CO. becomes. You can z. B. an intimate mixture of one part of m-aminophenol with an excess, preferably 3 parts, of alkali carbonate, z. B. Potash or soda, heat in the presence of C0_.
It is expedient to proceed in such a way that the mixture is first heated for some time in a vacuum and then CO. , is introduced into the mixture, advantageously under pressure. After completion of the CO line (detectable by observing the manometer after the CO = supply has been switched off), the reaction mixture can be dissolved in water and neutralized with sulfuric or hydrochloric acid to such an extent that it only reacts weakly.
After adding animal charcoal, the solution can be filtered and the 4-amino-2-oxy-benzoate can be precipitated from the filtrate by adding formic or acetic acid.
Instead of an excess of alkali metal carbonate, equimolar amounts of alkali metal carbonate and ni-aminophenol can also be used. In this case it is advisable to add an inert dissolving agent to the reaction mixture. As such, e.g. B. kiesel gur, talc, table salt, potassium chloride or sulfate used. will.
Example: 2000 parts of finely powdered, dry in-amino-phenol and 6000 parts of anhydrous potash are intimately mixed and heated to 7.50 to 200 in an autoclave for 3 hours under vacuum. Now C0 is pressed in and the mixture is heated to 170 to 200 for a further 4 to 5 hours under 15 Atü CO. Then it is allowed to cool to about 100, the carbon dioxide is released and the contents. of the autoclave dissolved in water.
Concentrated hydrochloric acid is then added to the dark brown solution while stirring until it only reacts with a weakly alkaline lacquer mixture, animal charcoal is added and, after some stirring, it is suctioned off. The 4-amino-2-oxybenzoic acid formed is precipitated from the filtrate by adding an excess of formic or acetic acid, filtered off with suction and washed with water. For cleaning, the acid is dissolved in just the required amount of ammonia, again with. Stirred animal charcoal, suctioned off and precipitated from the filtrate with formic acid.
The 4-amino-2-oxy-benzoic acid is obtained as an almost colorless, crystalline powder with a melting point of 1 -18 to 149 (decomp.).
