Device for vaporizing liquids, in particular for hygienic or insecticidal purposes. The present invention relates to a device for vaporizing liquids, in particular for hygienic or insecticidal purposes. Liquids of this type are usually evaporated in an open container that is heated by an electric current or a flame, with thermostats or similar control devices being able to be arranged to maintain the necessary temperature.
In the device according to the invention, an absorbent body, e.g. B. a clay plate or a wick. made of wool, asbestos or the like, partly immersed in the liquid to be evaporated and the part protruding from the latter, together with the same. the so-called liquid is heated by radiant heat. Iierbei heating of the liquid container is avoided, and it is only a small amount of absorbed liquid is heated and evaporated. The suction body therefore only serves as a means of conveying the liquid that is to be evaporated.
The device can with. be provided with a liquid storage container, which makes refilling or other operation unnecessary during long operating times. A wire mesh can be installed between the absorbent body and the heat source at some distance from both to keep the rising vapors away from the heat source and to prevent it from overheating or even igniting.
The device according to the invention is shown, for example, in the accompanying drawing, Yender drawings.
Fig. 1 shows in vertical section a device with a round wick. and cylindrical 1 - 1 heating element ..
2 shows, in vertical section, a device with a plate made of fired clay as an absorbent body with a flat heating element.
Fig.3 shows a device with a petrol burner and zvlindrisehem wick.
According to FIG. 1, the liquid container 1 has a cover 2, in the center of which a short, vertical tube 3 is attached. A wick 4 protrudes through this tube, the lower part of which hangs in the liquid. The length of the protruding part can be adjusted by means of a hand-operated shaft 5 and a gear wheel C, which protrudes through a slot into the tube 3, in which, as is known in kerosene lamps,. The shaft 5 t <B> M </B> el is mounted in bearings 7 which are provided on the cover 2.
A ring 8 is also attached to the cover 2, onto which the lower end of a cylinder 9 is placed. This rests on the lid 2 of the container 1 and has a perforated bottom 10, while it carries a truncated cone 11 at the top. Between the bottom 10 and the truncated cone 11, sitting on the Bo, there is a standing heating element 12, the current through the device 13 can be fed. A cylindrically shaped wire mesh 14 is located between the heating element. 12 and wick 4 and serves to guide the rising vapors.
An asbestos ring 11 'is inserted between the heating element 12 and the cone 11 in order to prevent the cylinder 9 from overheating. When the current is switched on, the upper part of the wick with the absorbed liquid is heated by radiation and the liquid absorbed in it evaporates. The vapors mix with the air and rise to the top, and fresh air enters the apparatus through openings 9 'in cylinder 9 and 10' in floor 10. As soon as the power is switched off, the evaporation goes down.
Container 1 and its contents remain cold. The container is filled after removing the lid 2.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 1 can be placed on a table, while the device according to FIG. 2 is intended to be attached to the wall. A plate 15 can be fastened to the wall by means of an eyelet 16. A flat electrical heating element 17 is attached to the plate 15, to which current can be fed through a line 18. At the lower part of the plate is a laterally open compartment 15 'into which a vessel 19 with the liquid to be evaporated can be pushed.
A guide mounted in the lid of the container 19 also protrudes. the lower part a porous plate 21 made of calcined clay in the container; the upper part of this plate is parallel to the flat radiator 17. At the top of the compartment 15 'sits a laterally open wire mesh 22 in which the vapors rise. A perforated wall 15 ″ can be placed on the Faeh 15 in order to protect the individual parts of the apparatus against tampering. The plate <B> '</B> 1 sucks liquid up from the container 19 and exposes it to the radiation Radiator 17 off.
An embodiment with a round wick 26 and a petroleum burner 24 is shown in FIG. The liquid container 23 is ring-shaped. The burner 24 is in the middle of the ring. Two lower concentric rings 25, which are attached to the top of the container 23, represent the guide for the Runddoeht 26, which hangs below in the liquid. The wick can be screwed higher or lower in a known manner by means of the manually operated shaft 27 on which a toothed wheel is seated, which enters through a slot in the outer ring 25. A cylindri cal wire mesh 29 sits between the flame 28 and the wick 26 on the container.
The burner could be replaced by an electric light bulb 31, as indicated by dashed lines. is. All parts located above the container are enclosed by a protective cylinder 30. The vapors he generated rise while fresh air occurs between the inner wall of the annular container and burner 24.
If several rooms are to be protected against insects at once, a common central system can be created from which pipes lead into the various rooms through which the vapors get there.
