Abstract

Method and a vaporising unit for atmospheric diffusion of an active prod. e.g. a disinfectant, which has been dissolved in a combustible liq. The liq. is subjected to catalytic combustion. The improvement is that only part of the soln. is subjected to catalytic combustion. The heat from this combustion is used to evaporate at least part of the remainder of the soln. The vaporising unit comprises a mesh wick which extends upwards from a container of soln. to close proximity with the underside of a catalytic element. This wick is tubular and contains an inner core wick which extend through a hole in the catalytic element. The hole through the element is lined with a non-catalytic sleeve which prevents reaction between the inner core wick and the catalytic element. The vaporising unit is used to diffuse into the atmos. active prods. e.g. disinfectants, insecticides, perfumes, deodorants bactericides, smoke absorbants etc.
