Fig. 2 ist ein Aufriss zu Fig. 1.
Internal combustion engine with compression ignition. The invention relates to internal combustion engines with compression ignition and aims to provide an arrangement to achieve rapid mixing of the air introduced into the cylinder of the engine with the fuel injected.
According to the invention, the machine has a combustion chamber with an inclined ceiling in which the inlet and outlet valves are arranged, the fuel injector axis being parallel to the ceiling mentioned, the fuel being injected parallel to the ceiling of the combustion chamber. and the arrangement is made in such a way that a first vortex is created around the cylinder axis during the intake process, which continues during the combustion process, while a further vortex is generated as a result of the squeezing effect towards the end of the compression in the combustion chamber,
whose axis is perpendicular to the axis of the first vortex and to the axis of the fuel injector.
According to a preferred embodiment, the inlet and outlet valves are arranged symmetrically to the fuel injector and symmetrically to the cylinder axis in the ceiling of the combustion chamber.
The accompanying drawing concerns. an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention: Fig. 1 is a plan view of a cylinder. Fig. 2 is an elevation of Fig. 1. In the cover of the cylinder a, a combustion chamber is formed with an inclined ceiling b and side wall d. The combustion chamber extends across the entire width of the cylinder. In the combustion chamber, the side wall d is perpendicular to the underside of the ceiling, which is flat. The inlet and outlet valves e, f are arranged symmetrically to the cylinder axis in the ceiling, with the valve stems being perpendicular to the underside of the ceiling.
The fuel injector g is arranged in the aforementioned side wall d such that the inlet and outlet valves are also symmetrical to it and that its axis runs parallel to the underside of the ceiling.
The piston is provided opposite the combustion chamber with a recess and a jump before that protrudes into the combustion chamber at the top dead center. The recess be intended to prevent wetting of the piston top by the fuel during injection. The lead causes. towards the end of the compression a deflection of the air displaced from the space b = towards the injector.
The mode of operation of this arrangement is as follows: During the suction stroke, the air sucked into the cylinder through the glass eccentrically provided air is forced to flow in a tangential direction into the cylinder due to the arrangement of the valve very close to the combustion chamber As indicated in Fig. I by the arrows, a vortex is generated around the cylinder axis,
as obtained with a shielded inlet valve. This vortex remains during the compression stroke and during the combustion, while a further vortex is generated in the combustion chamber by the displacement of the air from the cylinder chambers b 'and b = towards the end of the compression, as indicated by the arrows in FIG is.
The axis of this transverse vortex is at right angles to the axis of the first vortex and to the axis of the injector. The fuel is injected in four radially arranged jets, which are arranged in a plane running parallel to the inclined underside of the ceiling.
