Description
Beleuchtungsanlage an Fahrzeugen.
Lighting system on vehicles. When using headlights on vehicles, traffic safety requires that they are dimmed if necessary. The dimming is done in a known manner by switching on a weaker light source. This shortens the range of vision considerably. Another disadvantage is that this weaker light source remains visible, which only reduces glare, but does not prevent it.
The invention is a Be lighting system on vehicles, characterized by at least one headlight fer with a funnel-like housing, the depth of which is at least two and a half times as large as the mean diameter of the front opening of the housing, which housing limits the light cone and directed obliquely downwards The whole thing is such that the light source is invisible to oncoming road users.
In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown in Fig. 1. On the front part of a vehicle four headlights are attached fer. 1 and 2 show headlights of a known design, while the headlights 3 and 4, the light source 5 is used at the rear end of a funnel-like housing 6 Ge. The housing 6 has a depth which is at least two and a half times as great as the mean diameter of the front opening of the housing.
The mean diameter is to be understood as the arithmetic mean of the largest and smallest diameter of the opening, if the opening is not circular, as in the case shown, but is, for example, oval or polygonal. For the drawn circular opening, the mean diameter is the same as the circle diameter. The housing 3 and 4 are, as Fig. 1 shows, so attached to the vehicle, class the light cone down obliquely tet and the light source oncoming road users, z. B. pedestrians or drivers of vehicles, is invisible. The funnel-like housing can be built into the fender.
To avoid the ingress of dirt, the opening of the housing can be seen ver with a protective pane made of glass or other transparent material. When driving on the open road, the fully visible headlights 1 and 2 can be switched on. If, however, other road users come towards the vehicle, the headlights 1 and 2 can be switched off and the headlights 3 and 4 activated, the cone of light of which is limited by the funnel-like housing in such a way that the cone of light illuminates the roadway without oncoming road users can see the source of light and be blinded by it.
A reduction in the light intensity of these headlights 3 and 4 to avoid dazzling is then no longer necessary, so that the range of the lighting is not reduced or is only insignificantly reduced for users when crossing other roads.
