Process for the production of a new monoazo dye. The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a new monoazo dye, according to which diazotized p aminophenyl-y-oxypropyl ether, 2-oxydiphenylene oxy-d and a sulfating agent are reacted with one another in such a way
that the oxypropyl group is converted into the corresponding sulfuric acid ester group and the diazo radical occurs in the 1-position of the dipherivlene oxide nucleus.
The new dye is a brownish-gel powder which dissolves in water with an orange color and in sulfuric acid with a carmine-red color.
The conversion of the oxypropyl group into the corresponding sulfuric acid ester group with the aid of the sulfating agent, for example with the aid of sulfuric acid, can take place before or after the coupling.
The method of numbering the dimenylene oxide ring system in this specification is from The Ring Index of 3. 31. Patterson & LT Capell (Reinhold Publishing Corporation, New York) 1940, Sr.iie 234, No. 1 (19, das means the oxygen aioni is denoted by 5.
Example: 24.7 parts of p-aminophenyl-γ-oxypropyl-iitliei, -sulfuric acid ester are dissolved in 300 parts of water containing 25 parts of 36% hydrochloric acid by adding a solution of 6.9 Parts of sodium nitrite in 50 parts of water are azotized. The resulting Dia.zolösung is stirred with a cooled solution of 18.4 parts of 2-OxydiphenWlenoxyd, dissolved in 400 parts of water,
and containing 4 parts of sodium hydroxide and 40 parts of anhydrous sodium carbonate. After coupling has been completed, 40 parts of sodium chloride are added to the coupling mixture and the mixture is stirred for 3 hours. The dye is then filtered off, washed with water and dried.
The nine dye is a brownish-yellow powder which is soluble in hot water to form an orange solution and in concentrated sulfuric acid to form a crimson-red solution. It dyes cellulose acetate and polyamide fibers and fabrics in light yellow shades, provided that the dyeing is carried out from a neutral bath containing glacial salt or sodium chloride.
The dyeings obtained have good wet and light fastness and are light. ätzba.r. The new dyestuff is also well suited for printing cellulose synthetic silk and produces prints with high sublimation fastness or good fastness against so-called soiling, for example during steaming. The new dye is particularly suitable for use on cellulose acetate artificial silk made of thinned or so-called.
<; bath thin-bodied dye, such as that used when dyeing with the reel.
