Device for treating wounds and other lesions.
The present invention relates to a device for treating wounds and other lesions.
This device is characterized according to the invention by a body of inert and translucent material, comprising a central part in the form of a bowl intended to cover the wound or lesion and provided with folded edges of the tinted to be applied on the epidermal tissue. healthy a. neighboring this wound or lesion.
The drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the device according to the invention, as well as a variant of the second form.
Fig.] Is a plan view of the first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view along J-B of the. fig-. 1.
Fig. 3 is an elevational view of this embodiment.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of the second embodiment.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view along EE of FIG. 4.
Fig. 6 is a view similar to that of 1Et and FIG. an showing the variant of the embodiment of FIGS. 4 and 5.
The device illustrated by FIGS. 1 to 3 comprises a body obtained by cutting and stamping a blank of plastic or other material, inert and translucent, having a central part in the form of a bowl formed of a rounded bottom 1 and a substantially cylindrical side wall 2, and, at the base of this bowl, a folded rim forming a peripheral flange 3 intended to be applied to the healthy part of the epidermal tissue adjacent to the wound to be treated.
The dimensions of the bowl are such that it can completely cover the wound to be treated. The body is provided at regular intervals, over its entire circumference, with slots 5 made in the side wall 2 of the cup.
Clean and extended in the collar 3 so as to form a series of flexible tongues 6, the ends of which are rounded at 4.
These tabs 6, due to their flexibility, are easily movable and can easily follow the contour of the wound to be treated. The portions which apply to the healthy epidermal tissue of the tabs may be coated with adhesive which serves to hold the device in place.
Openings 7 are made in the rounded bottom 1 of the bowl to facilitate, together with the slits 5 between the tabs, aeration of the wound and, optionally, the introduction of gases, vapors or other agents liable to cause the disappearance of pathogenic germs or the introduction of any agents promoting the epidermal reconstitution process.
The device which has just been described, which is suitable for treating wounds which do not give rise to suppuration and which offers great resistance to crushing, has the drawback, however, if it is used for the care to be given to the patient. infected wounds, to allow the discharge liquid to enter out of the cuvette through the slits between the tabs and, from there, onto the healthy skin of the patient.
In order to remedy this drawback, one could ,. in a variant of the device of FIGS. 1 to 3, provide the body with slots 5 forming the series of flexible tabs 6 only on a part of its periphery, the part without slots of the bowl then forming a receptacle intended to receive an absorbent body serving to retain the fluid flowing from the wound.
This arrangement makes it possible to use this variant in the event of reduced suppuration of the wound covered by it. However, for the treatment of clearly septic wounds which still give rise to persistent suppuration or which may recur, it is preferable to use the embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.
This embodiment comprises a body formed like the previous one and having a bowl with a circular base and a collar 3 intended to come to rest on the healthy epidermal tissue adjacent to the wound, this body being provided, as previously, with slits 5 of so as to constitute a series of flexible tongues 6 with rounded ends in 4.
The bowl has a lateral bulge 8 forming a housing 9 intended to receive an absorbent body, cotton for example.
The latter, placed under the wound, collects the liquid which flows from it. Of course, the collar 3 continues around the bulge 8, so as to constitute the base in contact with the epidermis.
It will be understood that with such a device, the pus, whether or not conveyed by the antiseptic agents and collected by the housing 9 and its cotton wool 9a, can no longer flow onto the healthy skin of the patient.
The variant of the device of FIGS. 4 and 5 shown in FIG. 6 differs from this device only by the fact that the housing 9a formed by the lateral bulge 8 presented by the bowl has a slightly narrowed orifice so as to prevent the accidental displacement of the absorbent pad placed in this housing during handling of the device. or movement of the injured.
Da. ns the case of the application of the device described to the treatment of a wound requiring its frequent removal or in the case of a special affection, such as a varicose ulcer or in that of the impossibility of joining together with the aid with an adhesive an excessively painful epidermis with the collar, this device could be held in a suitable position, using fastening links such as elastic cords for example.
In order to allow the use of this method of fixing, the bottom of the bowl of each of the devices of FIGS. 4 to 6 has grooves 10 and 11 on the outside, arranged transversely with respect to one another and intended to receive and guide fixing links.
This arrangement will again appear particularly advantageous, whenever the conformation of the part of the body serving as the seat of the device does not allow the use of an adhesive (embodiment of the device having a body in the form of an eyecup. , for example).
Each of the devices described could include a removable filter sleeve fitted onto the bowl so as to close the slots 5. This sleeve is shown at 12 in FIG. 5. This sleeve will be put in place when there is a fear of dust or foreign particles entering the interior of the cuvette.
The devices described and shown could also have a body with an elliptical or polygonal base, for example.
