Fixing and driving device for dental burs.
The main patent relates to a fixing and driving device for dental burs, the shank of which is provided with a flat and a circular groove, such as they are generally employed in them. contra-angles, device in which the cutter is driven by its flat and rotates in a bearing, characterized in that the cutter is stopped longitudinally, on the one hand, by its heel, on the other hand, by its groove in which engages at least one spring member; this fixing device is preferably constructed in such a way as to make it possible to release the bur by pressure on the end of the head of the dental instrument.
The present invention is a device according to claim and sub-claim 1 of the main patent, characterized in that the spring member is constituted by a transversely movable cylinder, subjected to the action of a spring and provided an interior hooking edge.
Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing represent, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Following this drawing, the control shaft 1 comprises a tongue 2 which adapts to the flat of the shank of the cutter and provides the drive; the end of this tongue abuts against the heel 8 of the tail of the strawberry. The control shaft also carries a pin 3 intended to retain the cylinder 4 longitudinally. A spring 5 placed in a housing 6 of the control shaft tends to hold the cylinder 4, which can be clepla-cer radially, in position, it is eccentric with respect to the axis of the control shaft.
The cylinder 4 is provided with an internal rim 7 which engages in the circular groove or groove of the shank of the cutter, and with a conical external part 9.
A sleeve 10 sliding parallel to the axis in the body of the dental instrument 11 is pushed outwards by a spring 12; the bearing 14 in which the cutter rotates is integral with the sleeve 10 and carries a collar 13 limiting its stroke. This collar is provided with a circular rim 15 which, together with the conical part 9 of the cylinder 4, will allow the inner rim 7 to be released from the groove of the cutter.
The operation of the device is similar to that described in the main patent.
To fix the bur, it suffices to insert it into the head of the instrument, so that the flat of the bur corresponds to the tab 2, and until the inner edge 7 is engaged in the circular groove is the cutter.
To release the bur, it suffices to press on the sleeve 10 located at the end of the head of the instrument, thus compressing the spring 12; the circular rim 15, pressing on the conical part 9, tends to bring the cylinder 4 conoentrically to the control shaft; the inner rim 7 is then disengaged from the groove of the cutter, which is bound.
In the hooked position, the cylinder 4 being eccentric with respect to the axis of the control shaft, it causes an unbalance which can be the source of unpleasant vibrations; balance can be obtained with respect to the axis of rotation, for example by drilling relief holes 16 ', 16 ".
Compared to that of the main patent, the construction shown has the advantage of being easier to execute.
