On voit en effet, en fig. 1, que la dent 15 de la grande branche de la bascule, en pas sant devant la barrette 10, fait légèrement reculer celle-ci dans le trou ovalisé, en com primant le ressort 13. L'inclinaison de l'arête intérieure de cette dent est telle que la bar rette, pressée par le ressort, tend à la retenir en s'opposant ainsi à une rotation de la. bas cule dans le sens de l'ouverture du fermoir;
Clasp for link. The present invention relates to a clasp for a link, intended in particular for a bracelet (the watch.
This clasp is characterized by a horn = ps. two traction elements intended to be hooked to this body and an L-shaped rocker articulated to said body of telh @ rtlani @ -r @ that in the closed position of the clasp, the end of one of said traction elements cooperates with the small branch of this rocker so as to. rotate the latter in the direction in which its large branch is applied against the body of the clasp to ensure the closure of the latter.
The attached drawing shows one embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example.
The fi-. 1 is a longitudinal section <<the closed state.
Fig. ? is a corresponding plan view, without toggle.
The fib. 3 is a longitudinal section in the partially open state.
Fig. 4 finally shows the clasp in the fully open state.
The clasp shown consists of a body 1, in which are milled and pierced d @ ivcrsea openings which will be described.
First of all, two slits oriented in the longitudinal direction, one 2 deep and the other 3 shallower, and each opening at one end of the body. Then an inclined transverse notch 4, made in the two wings formed by the slot 2.
Finally, three holes, one of which is axially open in slot 3 and: of which the other two 6 and 7 are transverse and pass through, the first, the two wings remaining on either side of slot 2, the second, the two wings remaining on either side of the slot 3. This hole 7 is oval, in the direction of the axis of the hole 5 that it crosses.
Each of these three holes serves as a housing for a member: the hole 6 to the pivot axis 8 of a. rocker 9, the ovalized hole 7 to a transverse bar 10, by which one of the traction elements is attached to the body 1, this bar 10 forming part of a terminal 11 to which is attached the free end 12 of a link; this traction element is thus permanently fixed to said body; the hole 5 contains a spring 13 bearing on the aforementioned bar rette 10.
The rocker 9 is L-shaped and consists of a hrauche brande, or cover, tines to cover the body 1 in the closing position, and a small branch 11. The end free from the, large branch carries a

tooth <SEP> 15.
<tb> The <SEP> small <SEP> branch <SEP> 14 <SEP> is <SEP> placed in # s- 'slot 2 and it is crossed by the axis-'de pi vote 8, while the ûentl5 is destiny.
in the closed position shown -in the fib. 1, to: engage in the slot 3, on the outside of the bar 10. * !, the other element of the tracdou which must be attached to the body 1 is composed, like the first, of a terminal 16, to which is fixed the other free end 17 of the link and which ends in a transverse bar 18.
This element is connected to the body of the clasp by hooking this bar 18 in the inclined notch 4.
Three factors tend to retain this bar 18 in the notch 4 and constitute both elements of security against inadvertent opening of the clasp.
The first of these factors is constituted by the inclination of the notch 4 which makes the body 1 a kind of hook.
The second factor is constituted by the large branch of the lever pressing against the body 1 in the closed position and thus covering the entrance to said notch, in which the bar is then born imprisonment.
The third factor, and by far the most important, is that, due to the inclination of the notch 4, the bar 18 is pushed against the arm 14 of the-. rocker, which it tends to rotate to bring and maintain the rocker in the closed position and, with a force increasing with the force of traction exerted on the traction elements by the link.
The rocker is, in fact, only a lever bent in L, on the small branch of which the traction of the strand 17 exerts a torque which tends to apply the large branch against the body 1 and to oppose any untimely opening of the clasp.
The clasp constructed as stated above, that is to say without the parts described below, would already be a perfectly secure clasp.
The spring 13, the oval hole 7 and the tooth 15 of the lever still constitute additional safety.
We see in fact, in fig. 1, that the tooth 15 of the large branch of the lever, while not in front of the bar 10, slightly pushes the latter back into the oval hole, compressing the spring 13. The inclination of the inner edge of this tooth is such that the bar rette, pressed by the spring, tends to retain it, thus opposing a rotation of the. toggle in the direction of the opening of the clasp;
this action being exerted on a large lever arm -is all the stronger; in addition, to the action of the spring 13 is added the traction exerted on the strand 12 which acts in the same direction.
In the plan view of FIG. 2, the rocker is supposed to be removed and the position of the. terminal 16 with its bar 18 indicated in phantom, since these parts do not always occupy this position.
Fig. 3 shows the clasp sufficiently open so that one can distinguish the different elements.
We realize that sri, with a closed rocker, the bar 18 contributes to maintaining the latter in this position, by lifting the lever, one on the contrary, to extract the said bar from the notch 4.
The open position drawn in fig. 3 shows that this bar then comes to be placed behind the large branch of the rocker and that by pulling on the strand 17, it will tend to fold the rocker completely backwards, in the position shown in FIG. 4, position in which it is still likely to remain hooked behind tooth 15.
So, even by opening the clasp intentionally, it still forms a hook, keeping the elements together. This is useful, for example in the case of a watch strap, of which an can then open the clasp without risking a sudden separation of the strands of the strap and the watch falling.
The clasp according to the invention therefore combines, in a small volume and in a very simple construction, the maximum security that can be required of an article of this type.
