Tool for inserting a threaded part into a threaded hole. The present invention relates to a tool for inserting a threaded part, e.g. B. a wire helix according to Patent No. 208041, into a threaded bore.
In the drawing, several example embodiments of the subject invention are shown. 1 shows a longitudinal section through a first embodiment of the tool, FIG. 2 shows an elevation of the same tool in a different position, the right part of the figure being shown in section; 2A is a longitudinal section through another embodiment of the tool;
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section through a third embodiment; Figure 4 is a section on line 4-4 of Figure 3; Figure 5 is an elevation of a detail of the tool of Figure 3; Fig. 6 is a longitudinal section through the drive end and the front end portions of a further embodiment; Fig. 7 is a longitudinal section through a white direct embodiment of the invention;
FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view taken along line 8-8 of FIG. 7.
In FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawing, a tool is shown which allows the introduction of a wire helix into a threaded hole + wherein the depth by which the helix is to be inserted can be adjusted. The tool as a whole is denoted by 1 and provided with a drive 2. This latter does not form part of the invention and is therefore only shown schematically in dash-dotted lines. It is of course immaterial whether there is a permanent or detachable connection between the tool and the drive.
Any suitable motor of conventional construction, for example an elec tric motor such as is used in electric drilling machines, can be used as the drive. With 3 a rotating shaft is designated. 4 is a stationary external thread arranged on the drive 2. In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the tool 1 has a shaft 5 with a rear end 6 which is shaped so that it can be connected to the rotating part 3, e.g.
B. by means of wedge 7 and a flange-like projection 8, which serves to hold the shaft in a certain axial position, as will be described later. Shaft 5 is provided with an axial bore 9 which extends from the end face 10 to close to the rear end 6. A rod 11 is axially displaceable with its rear part within the hollow shaft 5. Its front end is designed so that it can come into engagement with a helix for which the tool is to be used. In the illustrated embodiment, the rod 11 engages a helix 13 which has a tab 14.
The rod 11 is accordingly provided with a slot 15 in which the tab 14 can enter. About this, the rod has a cylindrical part 16 which corresponds to the inner diameter of the Wen 13 corresponds.
Means are provided to couple the shaft 5 and the rod 11 so that they rotate together in every position of the rod 11. In this embodiment, these coupling means consist of a projection and a groove, wherein shaft 5 is provided with a groove 17 which extends from the front end side 10 of the shaft over a certain distance to the rear. A pin 18 forming the projection is arranged on the rod 11 in such a way that it protrudes from the same in the radial direction and can enter the aforementioned groove 17 in the manner of a wedge. It is of course possible to provide a plurality of pins and grooves. The innermost position of the rod is determined in advance by the fact that the pin 18 meets the end 19 of the groove 1.7.
The fixing could also take place in that the rod end reaches the bottom of the bore 9 if the groove 17 is made longer than shown in FIG. 1. Rod 11 can only be brought into its inner end position when the pin is in engagement with groove 17. As long as the pin 18 is in engagement with the groove 17, shaft 5 and rod 11 are coupled so that they perform their Drehbewe conditions together. On the other hand, no torque can be transmitted from the shaft 5 to the rod if the latter is moved forward so far that the pin 8 exposes the end surface 10 of the shaft 5.
A stop, which forms part of a stationary tool part, is arranged near the front end so that the work tool can be brought into its correct position with respect to the threaded hole into which the helix is to be fed. In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, this stop is formed by the front face of the housing of the shaft and rod bil Denden sleeve 20. The sleeve 20 has three tubular parts of different diameters. The rear part 21 forms a sleeve provided with an internal thread 22 such that the sleeve 20 can be screwed onto the annular part 4 of the drive 2. The aforementioned flange 8 of the shaft 5 is held between an inner shoulder 23 and the part 4.
So there are stops 8, 23 on the shaft and sleeve, which prevent displacement of the latter in the axial direction Rich. However, the connection must be such that the flange 8 can rotate easily between the shoulder mentioned and the drive 2. A second part 24 of the sleeve 20, which is in front of the sleeve 21, be an inner surface 25 which serves as a bearing for the shaft 5 sits. This surface 25 extends over a certain distance in front of the shaft 5 .. The sleeve forms together with the shaft 5 and the rod 11 an annular chamber 26 in which pin 18 can be freely be because when the rod 11 moves forward sufficiently becomes. The front part 27 of the sleeve 20 has a smaller inner diameter than the surface 25.
The shoulder 28 formed in this way, which delimits the chamber at the front, prevents when it comes into contact with the pin 18 that the rod 11 can detach itself from the other parts when its axis is perpendicular. For a reason to be explained, it is expedient not to give the annular space 26 a greater extension in the axial direction than the pin 18. Near the shoulder 28, an inwardly protruding projection is provided, with which the pin 18 can engage when it leaves the groove 17. In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, this jump is formed before the pin 40 which is attached to the wall of the sleeve part 24. The upper part of the sleeve part 27 has an inner surface 29 which acts as a guide for the rod.
serves and leads the same coaxially to shaft 5. The inner surface 30 of the lower part of the part 27 is at a sufficient distance from the rod end 16 to receive the helix 13 in the annular space 31. The part 27 be seated an end face 32 which serves as a stop when the tool is placed on the surface 33 of a part 34 which is provided with a threaded hole 35 into which the coil is to be inserted by means of the tool.
The surface 32 ist.in such a distance from the rod 11 net when the latter is in its retracted position, that is, in the present case when the groove wall 19 rests against the pin 18, that the end 12 of the rod bes something enters the threaded hole 35 when the front end of the wire helix 13 just touches the top turn of this threaded hole.
In order to feed a wire helix into a threaded hole using the described tool, the helix 13 is pushed from the front over the rod part 16 so that the tab 14 enters the slot 15 and the helix takes place in the annular space 31. While the rod is in its rearmost position, in which the pin 18 rests against the wall 19 of the groove 17, the front end of the rod can be inserted into the threaded bore 35 of the part 34 and the surface 32 can be held against the surface 33. The surface 32 is at a right angle to the tool axis and facilitates the coaxial setting of the helix 13 with the bore 35.
The drive is now started, whereupon the rod rotates and the helix 13 enters the groove 17 as a result of the pin 18. As a result, the coil enters the thread of the bore 35, and the rod follows the axial movement component of the advancing coil due to its own weight, while rend pin 18 along the groove 17 moves. As soon as the pin 18 has reached the surface 10 of the shaft 5, the connection between the shaft and the rod is interrupted, so that the rod comes to a standstill while the shaft 5 can continue to rotate. This is the position which is shown in FIG.
The coupling formed by the pin and the groove is released automatically after the rod has moved a certain distance forward from its rear end position. The tool can now be pushed back, leaving the helix 13 in the desired position in the bore 35. The depth by which the helix is inserted into the bore 35 is determined in advance by the effective length of the groove 17.
In certain cases it is desirable to remove the flap 14 of the helix after the latter has been inserted into the threaded hole. For this purpose, the pin 40 has been provided, which can be used in the following way: the tool, with the exception of the rod, is only withdrawn from the workpiece 34 so far that the pin 18 rests on the shoulder 28, while the slot 15 of the rod end is always is still in engagement with the tab 14. The rod is in its front end position.
If the whole tool is now rotated in a direction opposite to the screwing-in movement of the helix in the borehole 35, projection 40, which prevents rotation of the rod with respect to the sleeve, takes the pin 18 and thus the rod with it. The ses acting on the flap 14 torque strives to expand the helix so that the same is clamped in the threads of the bore 15 without it being able to get out, and the edges of the Schlit 15 break or shear the flap in the in U.S. Patent No. 2210061.
It can be seen from the above that the tool is extremely simple in that it consists of only three parts, namely the shaft, the rod and the stationary part containing the bearings and guide elements for the shaft and the rod. Finally, stops are also provided which interact with the part containing the Ge threaded hole.
As mentioned above, the stick is moved forward due to its own weight during use. This is true as long as the tool acts from top to bottom on the work piece, since the drive axis is little least approximately vertical. It has been shown, however, that even with a horizontal drive axis, no additional means are necessary to move the rod in the axial direction. The friction between the tab 14 and the flanks of the slot 15 is sufficient in most cases to cause the rod to follow the wire helix when the latter enters the threaded hole 35 due to its rotation.
The fact that the tool can also be used where the forward movement of the rod is caused by the aforementioned friction and not by the heavy weight makes it advisable to have an inner end position of the rod, e.g. B. tenwand 19 by striking the pin 18 against the Nu to determine. Where the heavy weight moves the rod forward, the correct inner end position is determined without additional means before starting the drive by the screw element 13, which rests on the uppermost turn of the thread 35 when the surface 32 lies on the surface 33.
In contrast, where no force moves the rod forward before the drive is started, the rod must be held by the stop described above in such a way that the front end of the screw element protrudes sufficiently far beyond the surface 32 that it comes into engagement with the thread of the bore 35 as soon as the rod starts rotating. If it is intended to use the tool in such positions where the rod does not follow the screw element 13 easily, since the latter is screwed into the threaded hole, it may be useful to assign a soft spring of sufficient strength to support the weight of the Equalize rod.
An embodiment of this type is shown in FIG. 2A, where the rod 11 ′ has a longitudinal bore 41 which receives a spring 42. The spring end emerging from the bore 41 rests on a ball 43, which in turn rests against the bottom of the bore 9 of the hollow shaft 5 and enables the shaft 5 to rotate with respect to the rod 11 'and the spring 42. In other respects, the parts are formed from similarly as described with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2. The tool shown in Fig. 1 and 2 can not be used for the introduction of many different shaped spirals who the.
In fact, this embodiment is particularly suitable for introducing a type of helix, namely helices which are provided with a protruding tab and which are between a certain maximum outside diameter and a certain maximum inside diameter. In each helix of this type, regardless of its length, the depth by which it is to be inserted with means of the tool is determined by the length of the groove 17 or in other words by the distance by which the rod is displaced in the axial direction out of position can be, in which the helix rests against the top turn of the Ge threaded hole in which it is to be inserted up to the position in which the rod is released from its connection with the hollow shaft.
In many cases it is now desirable that the tool can be used on a larger number of coils. For this purpose, parts of the tool can be adjustable and exchangeable bar to adapt the tool to certain requirements he needs. Such a tool is shown in FIG.
In this embodiment, a hollow shaft 105 is provided, which is similar in its construction to the shaft 5 in FIG. The hollow shaft 105 is provided with a keyed end 106, with which it can be connected to a drive, not shown. In addition, the shaft 105 has a flange 108, an axial bore 109, an end face 110 and a longitudinal groove 117. In the interior of the shaft, but protruding from the same, a rod 111 is arranged which has a pin 118 which can enter the groove 117.
The upper, so the rear end of the rod 111 is provided with an axial threaded bore 112 into which a bolt 113 is screwed so that the head 114 forms an axially adjustable stop of the rod against the Bo denfläche 115 of the bore 109. The lower end part of the two-part rod is designed as a separate section 116 which is detachably connected to the other rod part so that it can be exchanged, depending on the nature and shape of the helix being used. For this purpose, the lower end of the rod 111 is provided with an axial threaded hole 119.
The piece 116 has an upper, threaded ver provided extension 120 which fits into the bore 119. The piece 116 is further provided with a collar-like part 121 with a radial bore 122 for the use of the tool in rotating the piece 116 with respect to the rod 111. The lower end of the piece 116 is provided with a slot 123, which. fulfills the same purpose as the slotted end 12 of the rod according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
It is clear that the described arrangement not only allows the piece 116 to be replaced, but also allows an adjustment within certain limits, so that the slot 123 can be set at the desired distance from the head 114 and the pins 118. A gap between the collar 121 and the end face of the rod 111 can be filled by spacer rings or washer rings 124. The entire rod length of the two-part rod can be changed.
Shaft 105 with rod 111 is enclosed by a sleeve 125, the rear end of which is designed as a sleeve 126. The bluff 126 is similar to the sleeve 24 according to FIGS. 1 and 2 suitable for connection to a stationary drive. In contrast to the sleeve 24 according to the first embodiment, the sleeve 126 does not have. itself has an end face which rests on the workpiece when the tool is used. A separate foot piece 127 is provided for this purpose.
For this reason, the sleeve 125, with the exception of its part forming this sleeve, has a straight through hole whose diameter corresponds to that of the shaft 105. The mentioned foot piece is a means to achieve the adjustability of the end face or the stop of the workpiece, and it also serves to accommodate the helix which is to be introduced by means of the tool. The foot piece is guided according to the helix for which it is to be used and is therefore exchangeable so that the tool can be used for numerous different helix shapes.
When using the tool according to FIGS. 1 and 2 to introduce a wire helix into a threaded hole, it has been found to be useful to pre-wind the helix, that is, to narrow it before it is inserted into the threaded hole. An effective device to achieve this end has been described in U.S. Patent No. 2316221.
You can be combined without wei teres with the tool described above if the lower end of the sleeve according to FIG. 1 only a special foot piece of the type just described is formed so that it is in the manner described in the patent with the axially displaceable ble Rod can work together.
Such an arrangement is shown in Fig. 3 represents. The parts 125, 127 form a fixed link. The foot piece 127 is essentially sleeve-shaped and pushed telescopically into the lower part of the sleeve 125. The foot piece 127 is provided with a longitudinal groove 128 into which a pin 129 enters, which is arranged on the wall of the sleeve 125 and protrudes inwardly therefrom. This pin prevents the foot piece from falling out of the sleeve 125.
On the other hand, the groove is long enough to be able to provide the foot piece over a certain distance in the axial direction relative to the part 225. The lower end of the groove 128 is arranged so that in the uppermost position of the foot piece a sufficiently long annular space 130 remains free between the surface 131 of the foot piece and the front side 110 of the shaft 105 so that the pin 118 can move freely therein when it is out of engagement with the groove 117 of the shaft 105.
The foot piece is also provided at its rear end with a recess 132 which is used to receive the pin 11 $ when the rod is pushed far enough in front. Since the pin 129, which enters the groove 128, prevents rotation of the foot piece with respect to the sleeve 125, it is clear that the flanks of the recess 132 for the pin 118 serve the same purpose as pin 40 with respect to the pins 18 in the embodiment according to FIG. 1. In other words: this recess is used to hitch the rod to the sleeve 125 when the flap of an inserted coil is broken off after the introduction of the latter.
A part of the foot piece 127, which protrudes from the sleeve 125, is provided with an external thread 133 which engages with a nut 134 which can rest against the front side 135 of the sleeve 125. An adjusting screw 136 can be provided to secure the nut 134 in the set position. The nut 134 is used to adjust the distance between the end surface 137 of the foot piece and the front surface 110 of the shaft 105, so that the surface 137 forms an adjustable stop which achieves the same purpose as the front surface of the tool according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
The part 125 forms a bearing for the hollow shaft 1.05, and the front end face 137 runs at right angles to the axis of this bearing and the foot piece and is adjustable in the direction of this axis with respect to the part 125. The lower part of the foot piece 127 is provided with a similar recess 138 which is dimensioned so that the helix can be housed with the help of the tool inside the foot piece so that it is against the wall part 139 (Fix. 4) and on the Top of the annular end portion 140 of the foot piece rests. In order to accommodate the helix 13 in the recess, it is of course first necessary to move the part 127 so far that the end 116 of the rod exposes the recess.
The annular part 140 located in front of the recess is provided with an internal thread 141, which corresponds in shape and pitch to the thread of the helix 13 which the helix has immediately before its introduction into the threaded bore into which it is to be inserted shows. This threaded ring-shaped part forms in conjunction with the rod the above-mentioned prewinder. The use of such a pre-winder is useful because in many cases the wire helix that is available is wound with a diameter that is slightly larger than that of the Ge threaded hole for which it is intended.
It has now been found that with such pre-winders it is very difficult to achieve that the first turn of the helix enters the thread 141 when the surface 142 of the annular part 140 is perpendicular to the tool axis. This difficulty can be avoided if the surface 142, on which the ZVendel comes to rest before it enters the thread 141, runs along the helical line of the first spiral turn.
If this is done, as shown in Fig. 5, the uppermost turn of the thread 141 will end with a more or less complete cross section 143 of a turn and not with a wedge-shaped surface that was formed when the surface of the helical linear end turn would meet at right angles to the thread axis. When the surface 142 is formed in the manner described, a rising helix is coaxial with the thread 141 aligned, and the front end of the helix will fall slightly behind the end of the winding 143 and the same with the first groove in a handle.
The tool described can be used as follows: The screws 113, 120 and the nut 134 are set according to the depth by which the helix 13 is to be inserted into the threaded hole. To adjust the tool, it is useful first of all to adjust the adjusting screw 113 so that the rod, when it moves from the position in which the screw head 114 rests against the bottom 115 of the shaft 105, into the position in which the pin 118 extends the groove 114 exits, is shifted, is shifted by a distance corresponding to the depth,
around which the helix is inserted into the threaded hole, taking into account the thickness of the part 140. The foot piece is then shifted backwards against the shaft 105 until the pin 129 is close to the front end of the groove 128. Now nut 134 is screwed on until it rests against surface 135.
If the tip of the rod end piece 116 lies behind the surface 142 in this position of the parts, the piece 116 must be screwed out and the opening between its collar 122 and the end of the rod filled with washers until the tip of the end 116 is slightly in the Bore of the pre-winding thread 141 protrudes. If, however, the tip of the piece 116 protrudes too far into the thread 141 while the foot piece 127 is in its rearward end position, nut 134, which rests against the surface 135, must be turned in order to move the piece 127 forward the desired mutual position of the tip of the piece 116 and the surface 142 is achieved.
After this has been done, the foot piece is moved forward to ensure that in its front end position, in which the pin 129 touches the rear end of the groove 128, the recess 138 from the end piece 116 is free. On the other hand, the total length of the rod must be shortened by screwing the end piece 116 backwards into the other rod part after sufficient washers 124 have been removed, and the inner end position of the foot piece 127 must be adjusted with the aid of the nut 134.
When the correct setting has been carried out, the foot piece 127 is brought into its front end position. Therefore, when the rod is in its rearward end position, no part of the rod lies in the recess 138, so that the helix can be guided into the latter with its front surface resting on the surface 142. Then the foot piece is moved backwards until the nut 134 rests against the surface 135, that is to say moved into the rear end position.
The end of the rod passes axially through the coil and with its slot 123 grips the tab 14 of the coil. The tool can now be brought into its position with respect to the threaded hole into which the wire helix is to be inserted. The drive can be switched on. The Dre hung of the drive requires that the shaft 105 takes the rod with it. As a result, the wire helix is twisted and wound through the pre-winder and finally into the bore of the workpiece. As described above, the rod follows the axial forward movement of the helix until pin 118 moves out of contact with surface 110 and comes to a standstill in annular space 130.
In order to remove the flap of the helix, the tool can be withdrawn from the workpiece, with the exception of the rod, so far that the part 118 can fall into the recess 132, whereupon the flap by rotating the tool in a direction that corresponds to the rotational movement Insertion of the helix is opposite, is canceled. When the tool is then removed from the work piece and the rod is withdrawn to its innermost position, the tool is ready to re-introduce another Wen dels.
It has been mentioned above that the tool can also be used to insert other threaded parts, not just wire coils. Such an embodiment is shown in Fig. 6 of the drawing. This FIG. 6 shows the lower part of the tool according to FIG. 3, which is modified so that it can be used to introduce a screw bolt 160. In this case, the end piece 116 'of the rod is provided with a screwdriver blade 161, which replaces the end piece 116 according to FIG.
The blade 161 is screwed with -Ihrem upper, threaded end 162 into the threaded bore 119 of the rod 111. Another tubular foot piece 127 ′ is provided in place of the foot piece 127 and is inserted into the sleeve 125. By shifting the pulp piece in the axial direction, its end surface 137 'can be adjusted in relation to the other parts of the tool, and a set screw 129' is used in place of the pin 129 to secure the foot piece 127 'in its set position .
The lower part 163 of the foot piece is internally shaped so that it serves to hold and guide the screw bolt 160 when the latter is to be inserted into a threaded hole at a predetermined depth. All other parts of the tool can be designed as shown in FIG. 3, so that no further explanations with regard to the working method of the variants according to FIG. 6 appear necessary.
While in the above execution forms of the subject invention the location of the end face (10 in Fig. 1 and 110 in Fig. 3) of the hollow shaft determines the depth by which the threaded element is inserted into the threaded bore, it is the same possible to design an end face of the rod so that it fulfills this function.
An example of such an embodiment is shown in Fig. 7, in which a variant of the setting means and certain relaxation means are also provided. In Fig. 7, the sleeve 225 forms a bearing for the hollow shaft 205, in which the rod 211 with its rear end portion 260 is essentially as shown in Fig. 3 ge leads. In the present case, however, the part 260 is provided with a groove 217, while end shaft 205 is provided with an inwardly protruding, extending in its longitudinal direction Fenden projection 218, which engages the groove.
A part 261, which lies in front of the part 260 of the rod 211, is provided with an external thread. A nut 262, which is expediently self-locking, can be adjusted on this thread. Thus, when the nut rises against the front surface 210 of the shaft 205, it determines the innermost end position of the rod in a similar union manner as screw head 114, which is against the bottom 115 of the hollow shaft 105 (Fig. 3). On the other hand, the rod 211 can be moved forward, the nut 26 \ Z being moved into the annular space 236 until the rear surface 263 of the rod is in front of the projection 218, so that the shaft and the rod are separated from each other .
The forward movement of the rod 211 is supported by a spring 242 or caused. This spring is arranged in a cylindrical recess 241 of the shaft 205. One end of the spring rests against the nut 260, which sits on the rod 211. The other end of the spring rests on a running surface 244 for balls 243, which balls can roll on the floor of the recess 241. The spring 242 acts essentially in the same way as the spring 42 according to FIG. 2A. The lower and front parts of the sleeve 225 and the rod are designed similarly to the corresponding parts of the embodiment according to FIG. 3.
For example, a foot piece 127 with a nut 134 on its threaded part is used, and a rod end piece 116 works together with a downwind part 140 of the foot piece 127. The function of the tool according to FIG. 7 is thus the same as that of the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 3.
In certain cases it is not practical that the rod can move freely in the axial direction when the tool is not in use. For this purpose, releasable retaining means can be provided to hold the rod in the retracted position. An example of such an arrangement is shown in FIG. 7, where the sleeve 225 is provided with a nose 264. A bolt 265 protrudes through this into the space 236 in front of the nut 262 when the latter rests against the front surface 210 of the shaft 205. A pin 266 is attached to the outwardly projecting end of the bolt and connected to the forked end 267 of an arm 268 of a lever which is pivotably mounted at 269 on the outside of the sleeve 225.
A spring 270, which rests against the other arm 271, tends to press the end 267 against the surface of the nose 264, the latch being held in its operative position. Because the arm 271 is pressed against the sleeve 225, the latch is removed so that the rod can move in the axial direction. It is of course possible and may also be desirable to design the arrangement so that the retraction of the bolt at the same time or at a time interval with the BEZW. takes place from the start of the drive.
For this purpose, the levers 268-271 are combined with suitable tel. An example is shown schematically. There are two contacts 272 and 273 provided here, which are electrically isolated on the arm 271 respectively. arranged on the sleeve 225 and connected to the lines 274, 275. The latter are connected to the starter, not shown. If lever 271 is operated by hand, a circuit is closed via contacts 272 and 273 at the same time as the bolt 265 is withdrawn and the drive is switched on.
Where frequent changes in the setting of the tool are required, it may be desirable to adjust the distance by which the rod is axially movable while connected to the hollow shaft, without having to partially disassemble the tool. as is necessary for the tool according to FIG. With tel that avoid these disadvantages, are provided in the embodiment of FIG. These means consist of one or more grooves 276 on the periphery of the nut 262 in connection with an inwardly projecting projection, namely a pin 277 at the lower end of the space 236.
It will be appreciated that for adjustment it is only necessary to drop the rod and bring the pins 277 into engagement with the groove 276 after the latch 265 has been pushed back, whereupon the front end of the rod can be grasped and twisted, to change the location of the nut 262 on the same ver. When the rod is now moved back into its retracted position, the tool is ready to be used again.
