In, Fig. 3 bezw.
Electric machine with brush holders. In electrical machines in which the current is drawn by means of brushes, it is known that it is very important that the brush pressure should remain constant, and in order to achieve this, many measures have already been taken that are more or less successful.
When using DC machines with brushes for low voltages and very high currents, such as those used for electrolysis, difficulties almost always arise because of unequal current distribution that leads to excessive brush wear, strong grooves and also often leads to commutation difficulties.
A carbon brush quality for high-current machines that does not tend to uneven current distribution does not yet exist. The disadvantage of the coal, which decreases its resistance with increasing warming, can partly be reduced by adding copper, but there are limits to the addition of copper, so that in this way a sufficiently steep voltage characteristic for a self-regulating current distribution cannot be achieved.
The purpose of the present invention is now to achieve the aforementioned self-regulating current distribution in the brushes of electrical machines rule. According to the invention, the electrical machine with brush holders is such that at least two brushes are pressed onto the collector running surface by at least one contact spring with a bimetal element interposed, this arrangement being constructed in such a way that
that in the event of a current overload of one brush, the resulting bending of the associated bimetal element reduces the contact pressure of the overloaded brush and at the same time increases the contact pressure of the other brush.
On the basis of the drawing, some examples of execution of the invention are explained in more detail, namely the Fig.l and 2 show a brush holder in Seiten- BEzw. Front view, where the two brushes as Teilbür most of a pair of brushes in the circumferential direction of the machine are one behind the other, while in Fig. 3 and 4 also in Seiten- respectively. .Front view shown embodiment, the two brush parts of a pair of brushes in the axial direction are one behind the other.
In the fig. 1 and 2 means 1 the Bür stenhalter with the guide box 2 in which the two brush parts 3 of a pair of brushes are performed. The contact pressure is generated by means of a contact spring 4 and transmitted to the brushes 3 via the pressure lever 5 and the bimetal elements 6. The power to the brushes is carried out via the bi-metal elements 6, which are attached to the pressure lever 5 iso liert. and are expediently designed as springs.
In addition, the brushes 3 are electrically connected to the corresponding bimetal elements 6 via a flexible cable 7. With a uniform current distribution across the two brush sections 3, the contact pressure on these two remains approximately the same. However, as soon as the current load of one or the other brush part 3 is too great, the bimetal element 6 in question will also bend and the pressure will be partially or completely taken over by the second brush part.
As a result, the voltage drop on the more strongly adjusted part brush falls, and this is forced to consume more current. Now the game begins again in the opposite direction and repeats itself as long as the current load exceeds a value that is not permissible for the bimetal. In this way, a self-regulating power distribution is achieved, and the operation is exactly the same, as if the load will fluctuate continuously; That means the brushes are alternately relieved again and again, and this has a very beneficial effect on their behavior, since with constant load - as is well known, the brushes wear out quickly.
Furthermore, this arrangement has the advantage that the commutation process is influenced directly, since the effective brush width changes. The structure of the brush running surface changes constantly - and this avoids undesired zone formation.
In, Fig. 3 respectively. 4 is a further exemplary embodiment illustrated, which differs from the already described only by the axial arrangement of the brush sections. The individual parts of the arrangement are again identified by the same reference numerals. In this case, the bimetal element 6, which transmits the contact pressure from the pressure lever 5 to the two partial brushes 3, consists of two bimetallic strips each, which also serve to conduct electricity at the same time.
The operation of this arrangement is exactly the same as that of FIGS. 1 and 2.
Since the interaction between a pair of partial brushes that occurs in the event of a current overload could last too long or remain limited to this pair of brushes, which would lead to excessively rapid wear and tear, it is advisable to include neighboring brushes of the same brush pen in the pressure regulation. This is achieved in that the pressure levers of several brush holders of a brush pen are rigidly connected to one another by means of a tab 8, so that when the load changes, mutual pressure is influenced.
Through this mechanical connection of several pairs of brushes, an automatic pressure regulation is achieved at the same time when the partial brushes are unevenly used, because if for any reason the wear of one pair of brushes increases, the pressure on the same pair of brushes and the other coupled brushes increase. It is advantageous e.g. B. to connect three pairs of brushes of a brush pen with each other, with an off change of the brushes, where it is necessary, can be done without interrupting operations.
Of course, it is also easily possible to summarize all pairs of brushes of a Bür most pen. If several pairs of brushes are coupled to one another, the contact pressure for all the brushes in a group can be generated by means of a common contact spring.
In the described Ausführungsbei play the brushes are divided into two Teilbür most of the same cross-section. However, the invention can just as well be used with non-subdivided brushes, provided of course that the pressure levers of at least two brushes of a brush pen are rigidly coupled to one another. In this case, too, each brush can be seen with its own compression spring, or several brushes can be equipped with a common spring.
