Description
With commutator motors, especially those used to drive vacuum cleaners or others Small motors used for household machines are often omitted from using carbon brushes To be renewed in time, so that the commutator is damaged if the brushes are heavily worn burned by the occurring brush fire and the armature winding is damaged. To avoid this inconvenience is has already been proposed to train the brushes in such a way that the current at excessive wear of the brush is automatically interrupted. The well-known facilities however, show a cumbersome structure and low operational reliability, so that they have not yet been used on a large scale could be used.
Bürsten mit einer besonderen Zuleitung für die StromzuführungThe invention relates to a device to prevent the scorching of collectors or To prevent slip rings of electrical machines as a result of brush wear, the Operating current is interrupted depending on the brush feed. The invention is particularly suitable for small motors that do not have several brushes in parallel are switched, and where the power supply to the brush by a special Supply takes place. The invention consists in that the power supply line through a light melting solder is connected to the brush and is of such a length has that it is stretched when the brush is heavily worn and takes up the brush pressure, so that as a result of the brush fire caused by the loose seating of the brush the solder melts and the connection between the brush and its lead is interrupted will. The spring pressing the brush against the collector is here from the brush isolated and can therefore not be used as a power supply. The isolation is expedient by an insulating washer, which is placed between the compression spring and the brush is. The length of the power supply line of the brush is expediently dimensioned in such a way that with a certain amount of wear the brush the line is tensioned by the brush compression spring, so that no more pressure is exerted on the brush and this therefore begins to fire as a result of its loosely resting on the commutator. This heats the brush and softens the solder, so that the connecting lead becomes detached from the brush and the current is interrupted. Brushes with a special lead for power supply

Here you have to achieve a low contact resistance, the supply line is provided with a cable lug and this is firmly connected to the brush by a bolt. An automatic shutdown the brush with excessive wear is not possible with such a known device, since the Power supply line cannot detach itself from the brush.
In the figure, an embodiment of the invention is shown. In an in the brush bearing 11 of a small motor arranged, insulating sleeve 12 is the Carbon brush 13, which is pressed against commutator 15 by a spring 14. The carbon brush 13 has a dovetail-shaped transverse groove at its upper end 16, in which a copper braid 17 is soldered by means of a solder that has a small Has melting point. The copper braid 17, the cross section of which is dimensioned so that through the normal current consumption of the motor no heating of the solder joint can occur at its other end with a disk 18 made of highly conductive metal, e.g. B. brass, connected, which is in communication with a terminal 19. Between the compression spring 14 and the brush 13, an insulating washer 20 is arranged so that the power supply to the brush 13 can only be done through the copper braid 17. The upper one is useful The end of the insulating sleeve 12 is covered by an insulating closing flap 21.
The loosening of the copper braid 17 caused by the strong wear of the carbon Brush 13 can still be assisted in that one at the upper end of the The strand has a tightly tensioned tension spring or a compression spring at its lower end, which are expediently arranged within the brush compression spring 14.
The invention can be applied to various common types of brush holders from Small motors are used and can be retrofitted without difficulty, since this requires only relatively minor modifications to the known brushes are.
