process for the preparation of a dye mixture. It has been found that a valuable mixture of dyes can be produced if crude diogydinitroanthraquinone is obtained by dinitrating anthraquinone, treating with methyl alcoholic potassium hydroxide, re-dinitrating and saponifying the a-methogy groups,
and still contains some Ogymethogydinitroanthraquinone, condensed with an insufficient amount of aniline for complete conversion and reduced the remaining nitro groups to amino groups.
The new dye mixture is a dark powder that dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a yellow-brown color, which turns blue-violet after gentle warming with boric acid, and dyes acetate artificial silk in navy blue tones.
The raw mixture of diogydinitroanthraquinones used as the starting material in the present process can preferably be made by in the course of the preparation, d. H. After both the first and the second nitration treatment, the separation of isomers or impurities is dispensed with and the entire batch is always processed further. The reaction with aniline can be carried out in any way, for example simply in an aqueous medium by heating with aniline.
During the implementation, care must be taken that only some of the nitro groups present in the anthraquinone molecule react with the aniline. Depending on the solvent used, it may be appropriate to add a relatively small amount of aniline to the reaction mixture, or to ensure that only some of the nitro groups react by choosing the reaction conditions, in particular the temperature and time .
The reduction of the remaining. Nitro groups to amino groups can be in a manner known per se and with the usual reducing agents, eg. B. by means of alkaline sulfur.
Example: 6.6 parts of crude diogydinitroanthraquinane, which still contains some ogymethogydinitroanthraquinane, are distributed as an aqueous paste in 30 parts of water. 5 parts of aniline are added and the mixture is refluxed for 1 to 11/2 hours. It is then cooled to about 50, 15 parts of 27% sodium sulfhydrate are added, the mixture is heated to boiling for 1/2 hour and the excess aniline is driven off with water vapor.
At about 70, 4 parts of sodium bicarbonate are added, mixed thoroughly and the precipitated dye is filtered off. It is washed neutral and, after drying, about 6 parts of a dye mixture are obtained.
